If you are a dog lover like myself this is a author for you. ' # Will You Love Me?' by author # Barby Keel is "# A Foster Tails Story'. And what's really nice but also honestly gut-wrenching is that it's a true story. A story about a starved and neglected dog on the edge of dying, and his chance for a new like.
Thank you,

I give this book 5 stars. And would recommend to any animal lover! Very well written. I could feel myself, almost there caring for Bailey. In the beginning, I thought my heart was about to shatter at how it through Bailey's perspective. But as he healed, my heart grew lighter. Warning though. This book will make you cry and cheer Bailey's recovery on!

Wonderful Story of an Animal Rescue and No-Kill Shelter
This is the story of an older woman who runs an animal sanctuary and an abused Greyhound she rescues. She is in the midst of radiation treatments for cancer while he is struggling to overcome a life of abuse and starvation. In many ways, they are simpatico emotionally. Initially, the timeline bounced back and forth so much it was confusing. The chapter where the dog is being abused is not for the faint of heart. Neither is the one where the sanctuary is evaluating his condition. However, the book is generally upbeat. They take in any and all animals in need, take care of their health, socialize them for a happy life, and re-home them. They have been doing this successfully for decades. This is a love story between a woman and all animals. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

I’ve read a lot of books about rescue animals but I’ve never read one that touched me as deeply as Will You Love Me? It’s both heartbreaking and heartwarming. And I didn’t want to put it down.

People can be really rotten sometimes. The person who abused Bailey the greyhound, however, is a criminal. Barby Keel has run a sanctuary for animals for a long time but something about Bailey touches her in a way she can't quite explain. She's suffering from a recurrence of breast cancer and, as things get tough,. she find that Bailey is what keeps her going. This is a lovely story of a dog and a woman who, as the title says, save one another. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It will pull at your heartstrings.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I am passionate about rescue, own 3 rescue kitties myself and wouldn't consider owning any other type of pet, so I admire Barby Keel a great deal for what she has done over decades to help animals. She is quite a lady.

As a book though, this was a bit of an odd read. I was shocked (but not surprised, unfortunately) to the core when I read about the story of Bailey. What a gorgeous dog he was and the staff of Barby's animal sanctuary (and Barby herself, of course) did an incredible job of slowly nursing him back to good health and trying to heal him psychologically. I also enjoyed reading about the everyday challenges that occur in running a sanctuary such as this - the numbers are staggering!

However, this book seems to be a bit memoir heavy, if that makes sense. Barby mentions, many times, the dysfunctional relationship she had with her mother, and even though I am sure that this has shaped the person that she is, I am not sure that it was the right direction for this book per se. I really felt for Barby and her journey through cancer treatment, and she is very honest about how this affected her and I think this book would have been a better read if she had focussed on Bailey and how her animals have helped her through it all, which is kind of what I expected.

I felt like this book was written mostly as a way to exorcise her demons from the past and to perhaps also help with fundraising? Not that I blame her, but it wasn't the read I had expected, that's all.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 because Barby's heart is so clearly in the right place.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books.

A journey to recovery followed for Bailey, a neglected greyhound, and Barby Keel, the person in charge of the animal sanctuary. Bailey arrived to the sanctuary almost death, and they didn’t know if he would make it. Barby is fighting a second cancer and it’s a tough battle. This two broken souls will find the way to happiness and health again. A touching story.

Take one animal sanctuary, one dog mistreated and almost left to die and you’ve got yourself a tearjerker.
The beginning of this book is hard. Reading everything that happened to this dog is heart-breaking, even if you know he will be rescued. Eventually though, Bailey gets a second chance when at Barby Keel’s animal sanctuary and of all the animals she has rescued, he is probably one of the most special.
Bailey is one of those dogs who gives back so much, and even when he hardly has the strength to stand and is fighting for his life, he still shows love to humans and helps Barby Keel through one of the difficult moments of her life.
Animal lovers will understand this special bond, and they will cry tears of sadness as well as tears of joy at this story.

This is just what I was looking for to get out of a reading slump. I'm a sucker for a dog on a bookcover and this story was heartwarming. Ms. Keel is quite a woman and Bailey, the greyhound, will steal your heart. Dogs truly have hearts of gold.

I was a huge fan of Barby Keel's first book "Gabby: the dog with no bark," so when I saw she had another rescue dog book I jumped on it. It is just as moving and emotional and happy endings as Gabby was and I am addicted to Barby's spirit to rescue "unlucky" or "misfit" animals. I am definitely a fan and there need to be more people like her willing to sacrifice anything and everything to help those with no voice.

I can't wait to read more from Barby Keel and highly recommend this is you like stories about rescue animals. Thanks to Netgalley, Barby Keel and Kensington Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Barby Keel is the owner of the Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary in Sussex, England. In this book, Barby explains how she bought property in the countryside and began taking in abused, abandoned animals, or animals whose owners could no longer care for them. This had been her life’s dream since she was a child.

On one very cold evening, a greyhound was literally thrown over the fence onto the sanctuary grounds. The poor dog had been beaten, burned, and starved. It was the worst case of animal abuse Barby or any of her employees had ever seen. But no one would give up on the little dog. Immediately they called a veterinarian who also was shocked at what he saw. Together, they began to administer care to the greyhound whom Barby named Bailey. If he could make it through the night, they would never give up on him. No one left his side. They took turns sitting with him, talking to him, and giving him the love and compassion he deserved.

In this poignant and heart wrenching book, Barby Keel details Bailey’s story. She also describes the serious health issue she was simultaneously dealing with as she cared for Bailey. This is a story of love, kindness, never giving up, and ultimately hope and joy. It’s an inspiring and uplifting book for anyone who loves and cares for animals.

Thank you to Net Galley, Kensington Books, and author Barby Keel for giving me the opportunity to read this inspirational book! I would definitely recommend this outstanding book to all animal lovers!

Barby runs an animal shelter. One stormy night a dog is thrown through the gate and the vehicle takes off. When her and one of the shelter volunteers go to check it out, they find a shivering, starved greyhound with burn marks on his body. Barby is determined to save the dog provided he even makes it through the night. The next morning by some miracle he is still alive. Through love, determination and constant care the dog shows a fighting spirit and a strong will to live. Barby names the dog Bailey. While Barby teaches Bailey about love and compassion, Bailey is also teaching her about finding the will to go on even in the most difficult circumstances. This book is a true story and will touch your heart in a special way. I would highly recommend it.

The cover of this book is what got my attention. What a sweet dog Bailey is. I don't understand how people can be so cruel and neglectful to these innocent animals but thankfully there are good people like this author that care and have the patience and understanding to show these poor animals that there are people who will treat them right. Her animal sanctuary sounds amazing.

I requested this purely based off the cover. It was just too cute and I couldn't put this down till I finished!
I admire Barby Keel so much for the work she does. Her dedication, determination, and love for her animal sanctuary is lovely. I doubt it’s easy an easy task and if only I lived in The UK, I would definitely volunteer. As for the book itself I loved Bailey and kind of want a greyhound now. The first chapters are told through his eyes and then it changes to Barby’s point of view. I do liked that we saw his past through his eyes and thought it was all going to be in his perspective but it wasn't after that. I wasn't disappointed in that or anything since this is a non-fiction it's not like we could REALLY KNOW what Bailey was thinking. Reading about Bailey going through his recovery moved me. Barby was going through her own recovery with cancer and it was so touching that they had healed together. I cried and cried, especially at the end. If you love dogs you definitely need to read this one!

Thank you netgalley the publisher, and the author for the arc!

Love everything about this book. Was really hard for me at first as I lost my 14 year old Abby in February. It is a combination of anger at the abuse given to the dog but the devotion and determination of Barby and the sanctuary and the resilience of Bailey to survive that made this an amazing read! I will definitely any other books she has! It is a tearjerker but so heartwarming!

Thanks to a Barby Keel and Kensington Publishers for this book!

A horrifically abused greyhound is dumped off at an animal rescue. The owner of the rescue becomes very attached to him as she is going through cancer treatment. The dog and the woman heal each other, and simultaneously. Their healing takes a parallel journey, until the dog is finally healthy enough to be adopted and the woman has completed her treatment.

The beginning of the book has narration from the point of view of the dog. This ends abruptly and becomes the woman's story of rescue- her own rescue, and rescue of the dog. I would have liked to read more narrations from the dog's point of view.
