The Player's Game, is a very erotic novel. Nice because they didn't have to do the getting to know you phase since they were divorced. I enjoyed this spin on getting back together. The A ha moment that Katy has when she realized that she is someone on her own without help from Grant, was perfect.

Nope.
I could not get into this one at all. I gave up around 10% and didn’t even try to skip around. This one did absolutely nothing for me.

so we have Grant who is at his friends wedding and while he happy for them that they found their happiness, it reminds him about the woman he loves his ex-wife and wished they would have made it. Coincidentally he ends up seeing her in the elevator and he thinking this was fate since he was just thinking of her but she happens to be with some guy and he intervenes..Katy is pissed he messed with her on her birthday and since she lost her chance she feels that Grant has to give her the sex he missed. These two have chemistry and different views, he wants his wife back, and eventually kids. She is on the way up and not wanting children and not wanting anything serious, who will win..

This book has an audience, but it's not me. I hate when a romance starts with a predefined relationship and doesn't give the audience a chance to get used to it. Grant and Katy are interesting, but they come and their issues are right upfront. It made it hard for me to get through the beginning. Their relationship was exciting and interesting, but a lot of the premise fell short for me.

The Player's Game just wasn't the book for me. The story sounded interesting and I see a lot of good reviews for this one, but I just wasn't able to get into the story.

Grant, a NFL player, and Katy, an important attorney, used to be married, but haven't stayed in contact. It's merely coincidence that they run into each other in a hotel elevator, both with dates on their ways to their rooms. Overcome by sudden emotions, a jealous Grant ruins the night for everyone. Katy doesn't want to spend the night alone, and shows up at Grant's room asking for one more night together.

I do like second chance romances, but I struggled with how the book started. I didn't feel the connection between the two MC, who supposedly were married. There is a lot of sex, but I was missing an emotional connection at the beginning. To me it seemed like Katy was so obsessed with sleeping with Grant that everything else became secondary. I will say that it obviously grew stronger as they found the way back to each other, but I just didn't care about their relationship or personalities. Unfortunately I was just bored by this one.

I received a free advanced copy from the author/ publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Players Game by Alice Gaines a fancy four-star read. This is number two in the Players Pact series, but they can be read as stand-alone, as they each deal with a different player. This wasn’t a bad story, that was good and really picked some great topics, Grant and Katy have great chemistry and you can see they really care about each other but as we all know that’s not always enough and these two end up getting divorced, but at the star of this story, we are post-divorce and meeting in an elevator and the chemistry is off the charts again. Que the start of a great story its kismet, and kicks off a good story, but the sexy parts let the story down, the chemistry off the charts the wording, not my cup of tea, some people may prefer it its just not for me. I likely will be picking up the next story when I come across it, as I do enjoy the story.

A second chance romance between an NFL star and his ex wife. Story was a little unbelievable for me Ex's happen to be in the same place at the same time on her 30th birthday? In the same elevator?

. I also didn't love the main character.Katy.
Like I said, 3 stars, at best for me.

I enjoyed this second chance romance book. Lots of hot scenes although it made me chuckle that the author used the words “arriving” in relation to sex. Anyway an overall solid 3 stars. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.

***The Player’s Game is a second chance romance with lots of steam about Grant, a football player and his ex-wife, lawyer, Katy. Alice Gaines has written a fairly entertaining story with lots of sexy scenes as these two find their way back together into a relationship, albeit fake, because of the hotel security video. This wasn’t a “have to keep reading” book for me, but at the end I did not feel like I had completely wasted my time. I just found the characters somewhat flat. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.

I received a copy of The Player’s Game through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in the below review are my own.

The Player’s Game follows a divorced couple, Grant and Katy, who accidentally run into each other again and reconnect. Grant is a quarterback in the NFL and at his friend’s wedding when he sees Katy again. Katy is a lawyer, determined to climb her way up the ladder, and celebrating her 30th birthday when she sees Grant again. The divorced couple reconnect and go on to explore what is still between them.

I honestly loved the premise and plot of this book. I liked seeing how Katy and Grant were able to reconnect even after divorce and find each other again. The Player’s Game is very well-written, fast paced and easy to read. I have to say that I loved both Katy and Grant, very unusual for me because I usually dislike at least one of the characters or find them annoying, not the case here. I was able to fly through this book in an afternoon and am very glad I took the time to read it. The Player’s Game is a great, fast read of a romance. Definitely worth the time!

While I liked the premise of an NFL star quarterback wishing he could get back together with his ex-wife, I found this book rather meh. The hero, Grant, was a real sweetie who just wanted to protect and provide the people he loved. His ex-wife, Katy, is a lawyer in a pressure-packed NY law firm who doesn’t want to be protected and didn’t want to have the children that Grant so wanted. But she does want to have sex and a whole lot of it. While Grant is on board with that idea, he also clearly wants to respect her and not use her for sex. He would like something deeper. She’s the one who seems to just use him for sex, over and over.

I’m not a prude, but I would prefer a better plot-to-sex ratio in a romance novel.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This is a must read for anyone in a relationship (heck even if you aren’t seriously Grant is amazing)!

I love a good second chance romance but I haven’t read many that dealt with divorced couples! Grant and Katy were seriously amazing and you could tell that the love was still there they just had to find their way and come to a middle ground but both needed a nudge to see if that’s what they wanted!

I loved seeing them work through their lives now and also their reflections on then! They both grew so much and though it wasn’t together I still loved seeing how the feelings never left!
