Wow! Is there nothing Colleen Hoover can write? Thank you Netgalley for this early copy. I didn't know too much going into the book which I liked. This book just shows that Hoover can write characters and a love story across all genres. This is a paranormal romance which is something new to me. I fell in love with the two main characters from the beginning of the story. If I could critique one thing it would be the ending. I thought it was a little abrupt.

OH.MY.GOSH. Intense, gripping and emotional.
Want the definition of a roller coaster? Read this book.
When I heard that Colleen Hoover was writing a paranormal book I was super excited. Let’s be real, any time I get a new book from her I get excited, but I love paranormal books! So when I had this in my hands I buckled in and held on tight.

Layla by Colleen Hoover follows Leeds, who after an unexpected attack leaves his girlfriend,. Layla, fighting for her life, takes Layla back the bed-and-breakfast they first met at to help her heal. When they arrive at the bed-and-breakfast, Leeds meets a mysterious figure who leaves him questioning his relationship with Layla.
I am a huge Colleen Hoover fan and have read almost all of her books. This book is a departure from her previous contemporary settings and Hoover adds a paranormal aspect to this book. While I liked the mystery aspect to this novel, I just could not get attached to any of the characters. It also took me a while to get into this book, but once I was about 25% through, I became a lot more invested.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

In “Layla” by Colleen Hoover we are brought into a very different kind of love story. Leeds falls for Layla, the worst dancer he has even seen and while Layla thinks he looks like he is dying inside she falls just as hard. But tragedy strikes and what they have is shattered and Leeds cannot figure out how to get back to where they were before. To try and fix their relationship Leeds brings Layla back to where they met but when unexplainable things start to happen and Willow shows up all that he has believed is put in question and the choices he makes could end in disaster.
A very different read for me but I could not wait to see what happened next. I received and ARC of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Not a new adult this time, but a paranormal novel, it’s new and it’s great.
It’s about Leeds and Layla, madly in love, till fate strikes. After that, Layla is changed and forget lot of things. Leeds decide to take her to the bed & breakfast where they met. It’s for sale, so they are the only two persons. Well are they? Strange inexplicable things happen. Leeds is searching for help on the internet and finds a guy who wants to help. The outcome is more strange than expect.
The novel starts at the end, when things are very wrong. Then Leeds tells what happen before to the interviewer. Slowly we get all the information we need, but is very unusual and still a believable story. It’s about love, and jealousy and betrayal, but the outcome is that true loves finds it way. Always.
It’s a great novel, totally different of everything before, and still it’s the same because it’s about true love. It’s very well written, first love person Leeds and Layla, later hate Leeds for his choices, and in the end it appears he was always loyal. Well done to let me feel like the way I felt while reading this extraordinary novel. This novel is a real recommendation for all the readers who love a great lovestory.

This creeped me out. And then it proceeded to blow my mind.
This is nothing like Colleen Hoover's previous works. And in such a good way, because it just shows how gifted this author is (trust me, I've read 19 of her books).
Layla is just this girl at her sister's wedding, where Leeds's band is playing. They meet and instantly fall in love. We know that from "The Interview" chapters, where Leeds is describing everything that happened between him and Layla to a mysterious man.
I went into this book blind, I only knew that it was paranormal. It really surprised me, especially since this book had a few horror elements that got me on the edge of my seat.
My only complaint is that this had a very limited scenario and cast of characters, so sometimes in the middle I lost a bit of the interest. But, guess what? The reveal is totally worth the wait.
Be sure to pick this one up in December: Colleen Hoover really knows what she's doing!

.......And Colleen Hoover just proved she can write ANYTHING she sets her mind to! I fell in love with her early romances, but I've been along for the ride with each style she's ventured into since. I was over the moon excited when I heard she was writing a paranormal. Let me just say, I wasn't disappointed. This book wasn't like anything I've ever read and I loved it.
Layla was one of the more unique books I've had the privilege of reading recently. In true CoHo fashion, she finds a way to attach you to the characters to the point that you feel emotionally spent. She also has a knack of throwing twists into the storyline that you never see coming. Basically Layla was an experience that shouldn't be missed. With the purpose of preserving the surprises in this story, I'm choosing to share very little of the storyline in this review. Be careful how many reviews you read in advance, trust me when I say that you don't want this story ruined for you. The book is narrated by Leeds Gabriel, Layla's boyfriend. You get the history of how he and Layla met and gradually throughout the book, you find out the things they've been through since meeting. I will confess that through a good portion of this book, I absolutely did not like Leeds at all. Trust me, you'll understand why when you read it. Also, when you sit down to read it, carve out some time because you won't want to stop. I literally inhaled this book in one day. I simply had to see what happened next. Isn't that the mark of a well-written book? If it's one you can't put down? Layla definitely fits the bill and then some. Colleen Hoover has definitely demonstrated that she can write a paranormal romance like no other. This book was beautiful, twisted, creepy and romantic. It was a paranormal love story. So, go ahead and get ready for one heck of a ride....buckle up and enjoy!
Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and Colleen Hoover for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
(Note: Layla is scheduled to publish 12/8/20)

Layla was just...wow! This was the perfect book to pop my paranormal romance cherry with. It was like nothing I've ever read, yet had that familiar feel of "home" in a way only Colleen Hoover can write. This book featured very layered lead characters and Hoover did an excellent job exploring the complexity of their feelings. I was able to really feel the highs and lows, the sorrows and the joys, the anger, and most importantly, the love. The plot was full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I had some ideas, but then it was like we kept getting new revelation after new revelation that made it so much more exciting. Even though this was unconventional and out of my normal comfort zone, the love story was beautiful and inspiring.

I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review. I have got to say, I definitely was not expecting this from Colleen Hoover, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was able to finish this book quite quickly, and I didn’t want it to end!

An interesting and different book, it was certainly not what I expected.
And despite the fact that I don’t really like this genre and I really didn’t like the main character, it was very well written that I couldn’t stop reading it.
It did make me stay up at night reading it while noticing every little sound and looking around.
I couldn’t rate it higher because it was a bit all over the place at times and irritating.
And the ending was quite abrupt.

Layla is that fun, wild girl who we all wish we could be.
Leeds is the hot musician we all wish we could land.
Together, Layla and Leeds are the perfect couple — fun, hot, and always jumping into bed!
But then the unthinkable happens and life as they know it changes. But is it forever? Will they find the answers they need in time to save Layla?
From the start, Hoover’s characters and setting had me convinced that I was back in college at a concert. I could feel the music and taste the beer. I loved that there was enough romance and suspense to hook me in without going overboard. When I got about halfway through, I started counting down the minutes to my lunch hour everyday just so I could continue the story.
Thank you to Net Galley and Montlake Publishing for the opportunity to read and review an Advanced Readers Copy of Layla.

Wow, this was not what I was expecting, but very pleasantly surprised!
"When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences." Leeds begins to take comfort in Willow where things are not exactly as they seem.
This book completely held my attention. If I would have known exactly what it was about before I started reading, I probably would have passed on the book. I'm so glad I didn't. This is a fantastic read. Highly recommend it!
Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and Colleen Hoover for an advanced copy for my honest review.

What an emotional roller coaster this book was. I was not expecting this at all, I have read many collen Hoover novels, and they are all amazing romantic stories. This was definitly Something else… Everyone is going to be amazed by this story. Of course there is romance, there is mystery, there is also a bit of paranormal elements to it and you just have to read it to understand. It's a five stars to me.

3.5 stars
Let me preface this by saying I would read Colleen Hoover's grocery list, even she could make a phone book riveting. With that being said, paranormal anything is generally NOT my genre, so I was on the fence about a paranormal romance, but again - this is CoHo!!!!!! So, the day this was in my hands, I dropped everything and I flew through it. Let me clarify something, this is a full on paranormal romance - not some elements or dropped references - full blown. Some of this worked for me - more than I would expect to from a paranormal story, but that's the magic of Queen CoHo!
Consider yourself informed now!

I absolutely love Colleen Hoover! This one takes a very different spin than you would expect. At first I didn’t know if I could believe where the plot was going but then I needed to know how it finished. An easy read and one that keeps you flipping through the pages. Whether this is your first Colleen Hoover book or second to many, you will like this book!

Well...I wasn't expecting that. I could see this going a whole different direction at the end, so I'm glad it wrapped up the way it did. I think I liked this?

Wow! This was a really engrossing story and the reader, at least in my case, is taken on a wild ride and I did not anticipate those last chapters. Really enjoyed this book.

This is the first book by Colleen Hoover to delve into the paranormal, and it was fantastic. I simply could not put it down. I absolutely loved the character development, and just like all of her books, there was a twist that made me gasp. I fell in love with Layla and her pain, and found myself rooting for her throughout the book. Leeds lived in another pain, watching the love of his life spiral. I would definitely recommend this book!

Once again, Colleen Hoover managed to grab me right from the beginning. I just discovered her a few months ago. I’ve only read 4 of her books so far but have not been disappointed yet. Layla was no exception. It definitely took an unexpected turn, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Colleen Hoover has done it once again! Her latest book ventures into paranormal territory and the story will undoubtedly leave any reader feeling haunted. As usual, her way with words is enrapturing. I was completely immersed in the world of Leeds and Layla from the very first page. The intensity of their new love left me breathless and the events that followed wrenched my heart. I found myself experiencing many conflicting emotions towards the characters and their complexities. Anger, shock, disbelief, and sadness predominated. As with most CoHo books, this is an incredibly fast but also a difficult read. Prepare yourself for the roller coaster and ask yourself: How far would I be willing to go for love?
Thank you a million times to Montlake and NetGalley for my digital ARC in exchange for an honest review!
