After experiencing some issues with her boyfriend, Hendrick’s family moves to a new city for a fresh start. They unknowingly move into the rumored haunted house in their new town, which immediately makes her popular with the students at her school.

When she starts hearing and seeing things in her house, Hendricks meets new people and starts to rid of the ghosts in her house.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

This was such an interesting sneak peak! I have since purchased the full length book but I am saving it for around Halloween to read the full book.

A great horror story to include on your Halloween TBR list! Then again, this is a book from the Teen & YA section. So before you go off ranting about how the silliness of the MC, kindly think of yourself and your cringe-worthy decisions when you were their age. 😉

I loved the sneak peek of The Haunted. It sucked me right into the world of Hendricks. I bought the book as soon as it came out.

She’s new to town and thinks she can keep her head down. But something unexpectedly happens. The popular crowd befriends her and her life changes. Things start happening in her house. Things she can’t explain.

It seemed from the sampler that this would be scary and intriguing. Boy it was and so much more. I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. I know some didn’t like it. I say give it a try. While others didn’t like it I loved it and you may too.

Creepy story that has you on your toes, ready for more. This snippet of The Haunted made me nervous for the main character, but totally anticipating the ghost story to follow.

While this was only a sneak peek, it was just enough to completely hook me. I not only purchased this book, I ordered the author's backlist.

I honestly kept thinking, "Why have I never heard of this book or its author?" This is one of those authors you need to be pushing to the forefront, like Simone St. James.

Also, the covers are not very appealing. Even the colors are all wrong. It doesn't attract people to the book. I think if you were to change the covers on ALL of her books, more people would race to purchase her titles.

Looking forward to reading all of her books.

Not quite full blown horror, but much more than sci-fi. The Haunted mixes many of YA issues in with a very good story of a house haunted by hate and violence that must be defeated by a troubled teen and her supporting cast of misfits. Danielle Vega has again done an excellent job of pulling the reader into the story and keeping the eerie tension and unexpected events coming quickly to keep the pages flying.

I Love, love, love Danielle's books. I swear that each one gets better and better. I really enjoy the atmosphere her books create in your mind. I love the scares and unexpected scares too. I really hope that she continues writing.

I received this book as a sneak peak for the first few chapters. I thought it was a new book but found out that it has already been published in 2019.

I did enjoy what I read and wanted to read the rest but none of my libraries around me had a copy. I would have had to go and buy the book to read the rest. And I just can't go buy every book I want to read. Maybe I can keep checking for a copy. I think I will not get partial books again for this reason.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this sneak peak for an honest review.

Too short to really get into the meat of the book, but it definitely leaves me wanting more! I will definitely be adding this to my TBR list

A promising excerpt for a spooky season book. It's too short to really delve deep into the book but it looks good.

Wonderful sampler that leaves me wanting to read the rest! Just enough scary details to entertain and entice you to get the full book!

A lovely reminder that YA horror is not to be discounted. I was gifted a sampler of The Haunted by NetGalley, and I found the two chapters to be compelling and intensely readable. I wish I could provide a better review, but with what was I given I can only say that this seemed to be a promising read!

Perfectly spooky!
Thanks to Bookish First for choosing me as a winner of The Haunted by Danielle Vega!
Hendricks and her family moved to a small town and into a house with history after some undisclosed problems in Philadelphia. The house they moved into is known as the Steele House. This is where a girl was murdered years ago. Hendricks begins to have hallucinations that terrify her. She also discovers tragic things about her neighbor’s past and deals with PTSD ex-boyfriend issues. On the upside, Hendricks makes friends and begins to enjoy her new home but not necessarily the house. Her friends are fun and make her laugh and enjoy life again. But when she’s home, strange and terrifying things happen. A perfectly spooky young adult horror book that gave me chills! The mystery surrounding the house and also Hendricks’ past kept the story interesting and suspenseful, 5 stars for this creepy tale!

So good! That opening sent chills down my spine. I need to get a hold of this novel because I need to see how this story is going to play out.

As a huge of The Merciless, I was eager to check out the newest novel by Danielle Vega. I didn't expect to love this one as much as The Merciless, because I prefer exorcisms over haunted house. Yet, even with tempered expectations, I was still disappointed by this one.

This is a young adult horror novel that unfortunately suffered from all the tropes of the genre. Despite being classified as horror, the majority of this novel read like a contemporary story. The main character was more worried about making friends and fitting in than the strange occurrences happening in her own home. The romance , which included a dreaded love triangle, just felt unnecessary.

Otherwise, this was a decent novel with a couple of good gory scenes. I appreciate that Vega is willing to "go there" in her stories even though she writes for a younger audience.

So if you are looking to read something by this author, I would personally recommend reading her backlist title, The Merciless, because it actually broke out of the young adult box. However, if you normally enjoy most young adult horror novels with all cliches, you will likely enjoy this one more than I did.

I love a good haunted house book! And this was no exception. Listed as YA, I still really enjoyed it. Some good scares, a bit creepy and a great story!

I downloaded a sneak peek of The Haunted, not realizing it had already been published. What I read seemed to fit the typical horror tropes—creepy house, stock high-school kid stereotypes, clueless parents. It may be that the main character’s previous dysfunctional relationship is explored in an interesting way, but I couldn’t tell from the first few chapters. If you love horror, you might find enough to enjoy in this title, but I didn’t see an unusual hook or unique approach in what I read.
