Deliciously creepy. The first sentence Of this sneak peek sucks you in, and now I can’t wait for the entire book. But I think I’ll read it with the lights on!

***i just found out this book was published in 2019 and is not new. I wish that was mentioned up front. Now I’m wondering why just a preview, why not the whole book as it’s not newly published?

Short preview and I’m already hooked! I will definitely be getting g this book to finish the rest. I liked the creepy, uneasy feeling the book was giving so early on. And the writing is far is good too.

This book drew me in right away. The tension and spookiness from the prologue to chapter 2 and the mystery of Hendricks and this big secret of why her and her family moved so quickly, got me hook, line and sinker.

The only bad thing was it was only 3 chapters. I found myself trying to swipe to the next page, when in actuality it was the last page of the preview.

Definitely going to be getting my hands on this book!

This sneak peak of the Haunted had a very creepy and ominous atmosphere. While short, it set the scene for what is sure to be a delightful YA horror book. Hendricks views her new house and school as a fresh start. But with dark secrets in her past and strange rumors about her sinister new house, it’s only a matter of time before things escalate. If you like books about haunted houses, ghosts, and mysterious happenings- check this out! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this spine-tingling book. The Haunted is available now. Thank you to Danielle Vega, Razorbill, and Netgalley for a free chapter sampler in exchange for honest feedback.

I loved what I read: gripping, creepy and fascinating. I want to read the rest as it seems to be very exciting.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I love ghost stories. Creepier the better in my opinion. The Haunted sounds like it is going to be one amazing book, start to finish.

The book begins with a story about a little girl looking for a kitten in the cellar of the house next door. Like any horror movie, you want to tell her "don't go in there." Of course it's a trap. But that's all we know at the start. The next chapter picks up three years later. Hendricks parents have purchased Steele House and are moving the whole family there. We're not 100% sure why, but apparently it has something to do with Hendricks. Drearford, NY is the home of Steele House. And now it's going to be Hendricks home too.

The problem with reading previews is the wait to read the entire novel. I can't wait for this one. Just one short chapter was not enough. I am intrigued.

SNEAK PEEK: The Haunted
by Danielle Vega
Very short sneak peek, but very frightening, giving the best of teases about the story to come. The Haunted house seems to be very dangerous, and i wonder if the main character was a teen mom.
I will have to see how the book goes

I have read some of Danielle Vega's other books but didn't know she had published more. After reading this preview, I plan on picking up the whole book. Yeah a new girl moving into a haunted house has been done before, but I'm excited to see where this goes.

Hendricks moves to a new town with her parents for unknown reasons and finds out their house, which gives her the creeps, was the scene of two murders threeyears ago. Along with another student, they try to stop the hauntings. There were creepy scenes and I liked the mystery of why Hendricks moved to town.

I only read a few chapter preview, but what I've read so far seems pretty stereotypical of a teen-haunted-house-etc book. I can't say I'm super drawn in enough to seek out the full book. New girl moves to town, has a "tragic" secret, gets involved with school popular kids because she's "effortlessly pretty" since she's thin, blond, and tan . Sounds like a formula book that I've read a million times, unfortunately.

Good quick read! Danielle Vega doesn’t disappoint with this creepy read. Hendricks is looking for a fresh start but little does she’s moving into the towns haunted house, she quickly learns something is wrong with the house and it’s dark history

This story feels like a traditional ghost/haunted house story with a twist: Hendricks and her family have moved to Drearfield. New York, to start over after she suffered earlier traumatic events. A clean slate in a new town, a new school, a new home ... which, if local legends are true, has a chilling past. I only read the sample but this book starts out strong with spine tingling past and present events involving the mysterious and abandoned house Hendricks and her family have purchased. There's more than horror here, what mysteries abound in Hendricks' past and what dark secrets lay await for her to discover?

I was hooked from the start. Even in the first couple of pages, you are drawn into the story.
Certainly can't wait to read the book in its entirety.

This book has been on my TBR list for awhile now. Danielle Vega is an excellent horror writer, and after reading Survive the Night, I am eager to finally start The Haunted. I love reading teen horror in the summer, and with this new cover reveal and the sequel The Unleashed coming out on July 7th, this seems like the perfect opportunity to dive in!
