I ended up enjoying the book towards the end. At the beginning the foreshadowing felt too heavy-handed and the dialogue was clunky. Once the action started though, the book really moved along. I also liked the romance in it: not too much, but enough to be fun.

This is the first book I've read by Victoria Gilbert and I'm looking forward to reading more.

This was a great book. Things heat up while Amy and Richard are planning their upcoming marriage. When a rival art dealer ends up dead in Kurt's shed the police automatically put him as prime suspect. But as things go along Amy discovers more than one person wanted the man dead. Non stop action. Will the wedding take place? This could be a stand alone but I recommend the others in this series.

Amy and Richard are finally getting married! At their announcement party, they find the dead body of an uninvited guest that had been vying with Kurt Kendrick, the host of the party, for a rare book. The suspect list keeps getting longer, and the surprises keep coming. It looks like Amy might not make her own wedding. There are always twists in this series, and this one is no exception.

I have read all the books in this series and feel like Amy, Richard, Aunt Lydia and the Kurt are old friends. When NetGally and the publisher offered this as an ARC, I couldn't hit "request" fast enough. Fans of this series will especially enjoy this book.

Such a lovely cozy mystery! When a book starts with "Sometimes chocolate is the only thing standing between me and murder", I am most definitely hooked! Even better when the sleuth is a librarian. A cozy mystery is all about lovable (and quirky) characters, at least one person you can't stand, a picturesque village or town, and last but not least, a good story. This one has it all!

At a pre-wedding party Amy and her husband-to-be, Richard, discovers a dead body. The murdered man is an art dealer and a mortal enemy of their host. In the midst of all her wedding craziness Amy starts investigating the case with the help of her aunt and the new mayor in town. Who killed the art dealer and why?

My only problem is that this is the fifth book in the series, and I have not read the first four, which means I don't have all the background knowledge, and this bothered me a bit. I will most definitely try to get hold of the first four books, because I am sure I'll enjoy reading them as well!

A Mystery Before the Wedding
Library director Amy Webber, and her awesome fiancé Richard believe their sleuthing days are over. When an unexpected visitor is found murdered during their wedding announcement party. With so many circumstantial guests in attendance, where can Amy even start? There is a lot for Amy to agonize about on top of her wedding plans, when her investigation starts unearthing some shady family history. Victoria Gilbert knows her cozy mystery, and her art history. The William Morris Kelmscott Chaucer is a fantastic book, and it is easy to see why someone would kill for it! It takes a while for Amy to gain momentum in finding her suspect due to her wedding planning, job, dancing lessons, family gatherings, and the large amount of people mysteriously involved. This book is an enjoyable read for the cozy mystery enthusiast, with a sweet romantic ending.

Normally I love this series. Since I have read all of the books so far, I have high expectations. This one left me a bit disappointed. I felt like the author attempted to be elaborate in the plot but to the end that it ended up with some connections that did not connect. The timing of the old crime and the ages of people did not quite mesh and created some confusion in my mind. The one character that was revealed at the end was so obvious from the beginning that I kept say why haven't they figured it out yet! I felt like the author tried to do a lot but did not quite pull it off. I will look for the the next one as I have enjoyed this series so far.

I love this series! All the twists and turns keep me from not wanting to miss a thing. The character development keeps me wanting to read this series. Throw in a wedding, which I was sure was not going to happen and it makes for a wonderful who done it!

I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

What a whirlwind of murder, mystery, deception and of course, marriage.
As Amy and Richard prepare for their special day, things go awry when a mysterious visitor winds up dead.
The suspect list is a long one, and it seems no one can figure out who did the deed.

I loved this book, all the characters are so realistic, that I actually felt I was there.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this fabulous couple.

I absolutely loved every word of thus adorable mystery. I've got to tell you I'm a sucker for a mystery solving librarian. One of my favorite things was the inslusivity with characters like Scott and Jessica. I am going right now to find books 1-4 to catch up on all the Blue Ridge Library Mysteries crew!

Amy Webber is set to marry her beloved Richard Muir. During a party thrown by their friend, Kurt Kendrick, another art dealer is fund dead in an outside shed. When it turns out that the man was murdered, Amy can’t help but try to figure out who did the deed.

Between wedding plans, her secret agent brother being in town for what seems like more than a visit, a murder to solve, and her job at the library, Amy is a busy girl. But will she be walking down the aisle with Richard, or will she get too close for the murderer’s comfort and become the next victim?

This has always been a fun series to read and I am happy to see that Amy and Richard are finally getting their happily ever after. The whodunit in each and every book in this series has always been solid. While we may figure out who the murderer is, the why is usually a surprise. If you enjoy this book, I highly recommend checking out the author’s newest Book Lovers B&B Mystery series as well.
