The book is split between the two main characters and two different time periods. Each chapter tells you who it is about and when which I always find very helpful. I usually enjoy this kind of storytelling, but I found it a bit annoying this time as the stories are so different and you are kept hanging at the end of each chapter as it swaps between each woman. I did enjoy the stories, I just wish they weren’t so disjointed. One chapter is Gloria, the next is Beth then back to Gloria. The back and forth was just too much. Laura does tell a very good story and I didn’t see the ending coming. Overall I would recommend this book. Thank you #netgalley

A widower rents out an apartment above the garage to an artist man, and a space on her land to a younger widowed woman and her tiny house on wheels. A young woman has been stabbed to death in town, but there are no suspects. Another woman, one that used to rent the apartment above the garage, is killed. Strange things going on in this small town. What about the two new inhabitants? Who are they really, and are they involved with the murders?

It’s a nice read, with a good flow. It is a bit more slow going mystery book, with a moderate suspense factor, but you definitely want to know what’s going on, and who is behind this all. It’s told from the point of view of the two widowed women, partly set in the present, partly set in the past. I grew to like the small town, and how the two women grew as persons, and how they befriended each other.

This is a good read for people who like mysteries and suspense, but don’t want all the gory details, and for those who do not care about police procedural. This book has more of a compassionate and humane point of view. I prefer more action, suspense, and gory details, but this is still a good read. 3,5 stars.

This book tells the story of two widows from different backgrounds. Gloria is an older woman, estranged from her only son and living in her remote Michigan home. Beth is a young travel writer who rents some land from Gloria to park her tiny house while she is working in the area. The chapters alternate between the characters giving glimpses into their pasts and the ongoing police investigation into the unexplained murders of first one woman and then a second in the local town. The story is well-paced with some twists and a few red herrings that keep the reader guessing until the end. Overall an enjoyable read that I would highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting book about two widows one young and one elderly who find themselves developing a tenuous friendship. The story is told by both and easy to follow. Elizabeth, struggles with a painful past that changed her life forever the other, Gloria is trying to find her way after a long marriage and is now working hard to become the best version of herself and to find a way back into her estranged sons life. Gloria is desperate to have a good friend and thinks her new land renter could be it. Since a young woman is found murdered Gloria is glad to have someone close by on her remote property. Then another girls disappearance right after meeting Beth —and observing her leave late at night — scares Gloria wondering if she’s trusting the wrong person. Can she trust her gut that Beth is a good person?
The book was a little slow for me but it’s necessary to the story to know the why’s of each woman’s history and character. I enjoyed the book and it did grab my interest more toward the end. I liked the characters I disagreed with what the story said the character did or thought but that’s just my opinion.
Thank you NetGalley, Laura Wolfe and bookouture for this ARC if you like books with mild mystery, and the power to improve your life and outlook you’ll enjoy Two Widows.

I absolutely loved this book from the first page! Gloria is a widow who is feeling a financial pinch so she rents space in a field to Elizabeth (Beth) Ramsey for the summer for her "tiny home." Shortly after that, she rents her garage apartment to Joe Miles, an artist, who is a little rough around the edges. Gloria feels safer with her two renters because there was a recent murder in town and then another one. The story is told in a now and then format with Gloria and Elizabeth as the narrators. Lots of exciting things happen in this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. What I liked best about this book is the fact that it took place in Northern Michigan, my home state, so every town they mentioned brought back memories for me. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this fantastic read in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to future books from Author Laura Wolfe.

This was a great read! Sometimes I have to force myself a bit to continue reading but with this one: no way I had to do that! I flew through it like I was on a TGV.

It was a very fascinating book. The story is seen through the eyes of the two widows who each have a very different life and background. From the very start there was a suspenseful atmosphere and you don't really know who to trust or what the connection is with the beginning of the book.

Little by little everything is revealed and I closed the book with a very happy feeling. Not because of what happened of course but because of the way the story was structured and written.

This book is about what betrayal can lead to and so much more. 5 stars.

Thank you, Laura Wolfe and Bookouture

Two Widows is a thriller about....and stay with me, here....two widows. I really liked the creativity of the story: that two widows from different generations could become friends when one of them moved in next door with her tiny house. (If you don’t know what a tiny house is, Google it or read this book...you will be fascinated and amazed.) In addition to the two widows and the tiny house, there is a mysterious tenant, a cheating husband, and a possible serial killer running around. Lots of potential for drama! The writer does a very good job unfolding the story suspensefully and it was a fun setup.

I was very interested for the first 70 percent of the book or so. The mystery has a solid plot and a lot of good red herrings. For me though, the direction the book took in the last third or so was somewhat anti-climactic and disappointing. I thought a couple of the red herrings would have made better resolutions and was hoping for a final shocking twist. Nevertheless, still a solid thriller if you’re in the mood for an ably written page-turning mystery that is a quick read.

Thanks to Laura Wolfe, Bookouture and NetGalley for the advance copy! ⭐️3.5 stars⭐️

Gloria and Beth (Gloria is a generation older than 30 year old Beth) become fast friends. As both are widows, they have something in common... Beth rents space on Gloria's spacious unused land for her "tiny house". Beth travels as a resort journalist and hauls her house wherever she goes!

In the background story of this small town, a woman had been murdered at the beach, recently. Although a solid Michigander, Gloria is unsettled about this - being so far out in the country... It's good to have someone else there, now. Isn't it?

The two share a lot of their past - Gloria worries that maybe it is TOO MUCH?..
Is everything (and everyone) all that it seems to be?

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a great read!

Two Widows is the story of Gloria who lost her husband and is very lonely. Beth also a widow (with secrets ) is younger and she has rented Gloria's land to park her tiny house.

The two become friends of sorts but Gloria is having doubts as two murders have now occurred in this small town.

The book is nicely told from each of their perspectives.

I just love Gloria !

There are some nasty characters in this book which I love !

Twists and turns will keep the pages turning.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read The Two Widows.

Two Widows by Laura Wolfe is a thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. There are many twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. I enjoyed the differing point of views the story is told in. I also enjoyed the relationship between Gloria and her son and how she reclaimed that bond with the help of Beth. Great read!!!

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. A good read albeit sometimes slow based on 2 windows whose paths cross when one woman rents an land from the other. A friendship blossoms but is all it appears to be.

Two Widows by Laura Wolfe is a novel that almost slipped through my net, but I am so happy to say that it did not. This is a most impressive debut, and I am adding Ms Wolfe to my list of authors to watch.

Gloria is grieving the death of her husband and reading self help books as a way to strengthen her resolve to continue her life as an independent and capable woman when Beth enters her life. Beth pays Gloria to rent some space on her property and plans to park her tiny house on it for the forseeable future. Lonely Gloria is only too happy for the company, and the women quickly bond, with Beth revealing that she has also recently lost her husband to a tragic accident. Gloria is desperate for the companionship that will sustain her, but has she mislaid her trust in the mysterious new tenant?

This was a compelling mystery from the very start, and it kept me guessing until the very end. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives of the two women, and found myself emotionally invested in both of their stories in equal measure. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this exciting new author in the future.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
