This edition of The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales is delightful.
Some are tales we grew up hearing and loving and others are incredibly new (at least to me) and I enjoy it very much.
A stunning edition with illustrations in black and white that make the whole experience new and magical.

I have loved Grimm's Fairy Tale since I was little and it was really awesome to revisit this universe.
I recommend it to anyone who never lost the feeling that the world is much better when we let our child side shine.

Thanks netgalley and the publisher for granting me a free copy of this ebook in exchange of an honest review.

A great collection of bed time stories for kids! There are plenty short stories to keep adults entertained as well. Most of the stories have morals, some good, some bad. Reminded me when people used to tell stories to teach a lesson and not just to entertain. It has illustrations too.
Thanks to the publishers for sending me this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Rock Point and Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This is a collection of all 201 Grimm's Fairy Tales including some of my favorites and many more that I had never heard of. This is a nice compilation with both black and white images as well as some color plates that would be nice to add to anyone's fairy tale collection.

I have always loved the Grimm Fairy Tales, ever since being a child and being fascinated by the sometimes harsh endings and the morals taught.

I was so pleased to get my hands on this digital copy as an arc from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for a review. This edition did not disappoint, the stories beautifully captured within, and told wonderfully faithfully just like I remember them as a child. They are also complemented with both color and black and white illustrations which only add to the nostalgia and being the story to life..

I love this copy so much I think I will buy myself a physical copy as an e book just isn’t the same.

Every knows the Grimm’s fairytales. They have been a part of my life since I was a child, and they have been influential in children’s lives. Now they’ve been packaged in a beautifully bound edition with gorgeous illustrations from the amazing artist Arthur Rackham. Many of the stories we already know, some waiting to be discovered, and many that aren’t afraid to go dark. There are over two hundred tales to sink your teeth into. There’s a reason the Grimm’s fairytales have survived for so long, and one tale can whisk you away to another magical world.

What can I tell you? This collection is just awesome, with all the beautiful illustrations in between the pages. I knew the stories already, so it was a much needed reread for me here, but the collection is a must buy for me. Especially since in real life it will for sure look absolutely stunning.

A beautiful edition of The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. I have in my possession another edition of this book, and it doesn't compare to the brilliance of this one which goes so extra. I am reviewing a digital copy so I can't see all of the physical details, however it has been described as such: "features a gorgeous deckled edge, ribbon marker, and foil and deboss details on a vibrantly colored case-a standout".

This collection features 201 fairy tales and 10 children's legends, some of which you are likely familiar with such as Rapunzel, Hansel and Grethel, Cinderella, Little Briar-Rose, Little Snow-White, and Rumpelstiltskin. There is a portraiture of Jacob and Wilhelm, along with their signatures which is a nice little touch. The table of contents is so organized, including page numbers for each fairy tale and legend, as well as a list of color illustrations and a list of black and white illustrations. The illustrations are vintage, many done in pen and ink.

Although there is an overview on the background and history of the Brothers Grimm in the beginning of the book, there's also a timeline provided in the back of the book that includes their personal timeline along with notable world events they lived through, which I personally found highly interesting. For instance, I wasn't aware that they were alive during the execution of Marie Antoinette, the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, the publishing of Jane Austen's works and her death, the premiers of Beethoven's symphonies, and the birth and publishing of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein—the time-frame giving me a little more insight and context on the historical placement and origin of their works. For some reason I had thought these works were much older than they are, but I digress. An alphabetical index is also provided, as is a suggested reading and sources list.

If you are an admirer of the Brothers Grimm this is an edition you'll want to have on your bookshelf of give as a gift, it's beautiful, organized, and filled with so many personal touches which makes this edition that much more unique and collectible.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.

What it's about:
The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales is a huge book with over 200 classic tales that have been collected. Tales such as 'The Golden Goose', 'The Fox and The Cat' and 'Snow White and Rose Red' are in this beautifully illustrated (Arthur Rackham) book. While the illustrations are not on every page, they are a welcome surprise whether the art is in black and white or full colour.

I would like to note that as it is such a large anthology, not all stories will be brilliant or even liked but overall, I liked this.
Pros:
Beautiful art
The stories seem to be direct translations
Good contents so pages for certain stories can easily be found
It is nice to be able to read parts of a book and not have to read it all or in any specific order- this is definitely something to look at if you are having a readers block
Cons:
The real shame about this is that I got a digital copy as it means that I can not display the beautiful hardcover in my bookcase
It could just be the digital file I received, but I found that the writing is a little small for my eyes

Rating
5⭐

Would I read it again:
Yes

Would I recommend it:
I would, especially to classic lovers or lovers of tales.

This beautiful and huge edition of the complete Grimm's Fairy Tales isn't lying when they say it is complete! With 201 Fairy Tales and 10 children's legends. Every little detail of this is very well thought from the font, space between the fairy tales to the beautiful colored and black and white illustrations. In all, this is a must to anyone that likes to collect beautiful editions, also great for gifts!

With 201 fairy tales and ten children’s legends, The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales really is complete! There are also 50 colorful illustrations and 64 in black and white to make the tales come to light.

First of all, these tales have an earlier sense of what is an appropriate story for children. I didn’t realize Cinderella was one of the original Grimm’s fairy tales. However, life is much grimmer for everyone involved than in the Disney version. The stepsisters perform surgery on their own feet to wear the slipper. Later, those seemingly nice and cheerful birdies that helped Cinderella, peck out both eyes of both the stepsisters. Payback was a witch in the early 1800s, I guess.

With so many choices and the original illustrations, you can’t go wrong in purchasing this book. While some of the tales are familiar, most are not. However, I think some of the stories might terrorize very young children. The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales would be a great gift for an adult or teen though. 4 stars!

Thanks to Rock Point, Quarto Publishing, and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Grimm's Fairy Tales were a huge part of my childhood and probably spawned my love for reading. I think these stories are the spark of imagination. Re-reading these as an adult was still such a joy. I'll definitely be buying the hardcover of this book when it comes out.

I've wanted to read some of the original Grimm's fairytales for a long time, and would love to have a beautiful edition and this one is definitely a strong contender!

What I love about this book is how, aside from having lovely illustrations, you can dip in and out of some of these dark fairytales. Many are familiar and it was interesting to see how they originally were read, many I'd never even heard of and, again, I enjoyed reading these!

Definitely a must for fans of fairytales.

The Grimm Brothers wrote some of our best loved fairy tales. Here 211 (can you believe so many ?) are placed together in one lavishly illustrated volume. Revisit stories that you may already know including Hansel and Gretel; Cinderella and/or Little Snow White and then go on to read fairy tales and legends that may be new discoveries for you.

This book looks like it would make a wonderful gift, either to one's self or a child in your life. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

Absolute classic! Loved the illustrations. Definitely one to buy in hardback to keep forever when it is published. A beautiful gift for lovers of literature, I'm sure.

This book was one of the great fairy tale readings that I have read throughout my life, I had never given myself the task of reading all the Grimms brothers' stories, and I must say that it takes me 3 and a half days In reading them, it is very difficult to review more than 200 fairy tales, but in a simple way to say that it is one of the best, that it has the entire collection and also a variety of stories that you may well like more than others depends on the reader, but it made me go back to the past and enjoy the stories that are original and dark that give us wisdom. Similarly, complementing the beads, they have their respective illustrations, which are wonderful, both in black and white and in color by Arthur Rackham. Without a doubt, it is a book that deserves to be added to the personal bookshelf, and that from time to time you can enjoy these endearing tales.

This is a gorgeous, complete collection of Grimm's Fairy Tales. It is pretty huge, at almost 650 pages, so not ideal for a public library, but a good present and great addition to a home library. I like the font, and about half of the photos, although the other half were pretty dark, and I would have liked them brighter or clearer.

The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales - all your favorites, plus many you may have never read before. The color and black and white illustrations add interest to the stories. This is a wonderful collection for fans of Grimm's fairy tales.

This is a gorgeous collection of Grimm's Fairy Tales with absolutely beautiful and period-specific drawings. The translation, too, is different than the one I have at home and I like it very much. ("Little Red Riding Hood" becomes "Little Red Cap.") Like the beautiful Poe book by the same publisher it has a great timeline of the Grimms' lives and times and a very complete index in the back.

In addition to some of the universally known tales like Snow White and Rose Red, Briar Rose, and Red Riding Hood, this book has lesser known but familiar gorgeous dark tales like the Juniper Tree (a favorite when I was a kid, though reading it again I was struck by how morbid it is!) and the Glass Coffin. I have a collection of the Selected Tales on my bookshelf, but I would love to purchase a physical copy of this one so I can have even the most obscure ones. (Side note, I had never before read The Willful Child -- there are some stories in here like that one that nowadays it might be criminal to read to your children. But your child will probably stop being willful?)

This is a great historic collection presented in the beauty it deserves!

Many thanks to Orion Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy. I am going to buy this and put it on my bookshelf next to my new Poe collection.
