Despite the books title, this was in fact an enjoyable, easy to read story.
I truly liked the leading character and her free-spirited personality. The relationship that blossoms between Kira and Barclay was intense and page turning, yet she never once compromised who she was in order to fit in - something which I adored about this book. I loved the characters interactions with one another, and the different layers each character added to this story.

I found this book absolutely hilarious.

A nutty sexual doctor who would do anything to advance the issues she cares about and a straight-laced politician are the oddest couple one could ever imagine. Love tends to grow in the oddest places however and this one is no exception.

This book dealt with some serious topics affecting our world in a very humorous and bold manner. I couldn't put it down.

I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

I actually like the girl because it was refreshing to read about new type of characters in her only to get disappointed. So the book started out good then at a certain point I just wanted to get it over with. So Kira has a really charming personality as she speaks whatever she thinks. So she's as she like to put it "a sex doctor " . Not to be offensive or anything she actually tells this to people. Anyway she gave Henry some hope as he has HIV even though she wasn't his doctor who was Barclay's brother. Barclay is the politician Kira's so obsessed about. So she helped Henry in his situation when Barclay himself asked her and things started between Kira and Barclay from there. But Kira was harassed constantly by her boss. And when Barclay 's dad didn't like her at first and her boss bad mouthing her to him, he actually lashed out on her and said so many mean stuff. Later his dad actually liked her as she saved his life and he saw her saving someone else. Kira got harassed again and Barclay saved her. He realized his mistakes and groveled which led Kira forgiving her but she toned down her craziness. They got married happily ever after.
Yep there is a but....
The things I didn't really like is Barclay's behavior towards their relationship. And even though he realized his mistakes we didn't really got to see how their relationship went. I didn't like how Barclay didn't even invest a little effort in their relationship.

Nice funny and easy to read
The opposite attract each other in well developed the threshold of stereotipe touched but not too much
She fall fore him only for envivirment is quite lousy
In my taste she says pussy to much many times
He is a little mono dimensional
Good chemistry between the 2 not exceptional
Nevertheless nice

This is a laugh-out-loud funny story featuring an irreverent heroine and uptight hero. They clash over just about everything, yet desperately need the balance the other can give them. The tone is never dark, even though the novel deals with serious subjects like sexual harassment and STDs. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

Kira is quirky and also a doctor, although you wouldn't guess that from the way she dresses and talks and behaves. Which makes her even more quirky than other quirky women. She has a crush on a reserved and stiff politician, who then ends up being the brother to one of Kira's troubled patients. The press sees her coming out of the politician's house one morning, the politician's advisers think it'd be a good idea to have the two of them pop up places together sometimes to improve the politician's image, and so Quirky and Stiff keep bumping into each other and emotions happen.

I thought Manic Pixie Dream Girls were a thing of the past, but apparently not. I also could've done without her throwing the word 'pussy' around every five seconds to insult someone. But the more offensive aspect of this whole story is the fact that Kira, a hippie-ish NHS doctor, is completely cuckoo over a Tory member of Cabinet just because he's into renewable energy and he looks hot. Either this story is set in a completely different universe where the Tories aren't trying to sell of the NHS bit by bit by defunding it and making it take the blame for every single thing that is done to it, which actually sounds quite like an abusive relationship come to think of it... Or, we are supposed to really believe that someone made it to Cabinet-level in a political party they don't actually support and they just joined that one because it was the easiest option to get elected and "change the world". Either way, that aspect of it really destroyed any chance I could've enjoyed reading this story.

Loved this... I love how amazing this heroine was. She was it for me! This is my first book from this author but it won’t be the last!
This heroine was different from the usual heroines that I read.

This book was hilarious. There were places where I laughed out loud. This is my first book but Susie tate and I liked it. The flow was good. 4 stars because it is 1 time read where you can enjoy a light hearted novel.

I devoured this book within one afternoon and, as always, Susie Tate delivers humour and angst in equal measure as Kira and Barclay’s relationship blossoms and then implodes. It is so well written and so full of heart and fun. If you need a book that will leave you smiling - choose this one. Happy reading everyone!

Freaking loved it! Kira being a Doctor Who doesn't care what they think of her... I can't say enough good things about this book... Would definitely read more from this author!

This was an escapism read for sure, but just one that I could never really get into.

The writing was good, I just never fully felt invested in the story or characters and honestly was just ready to pick up a new book and move on.

Anything but Easy by Susie Tate is a contemporary romance. Kira Murphy is a liability: always has been. She might be small but her personality and heart are not: a sexual health doctor with a foul mouth, pink streaks in her hair, a bizarre world view, a reputation for being ‘pathologically social’, and a huge crush on the current Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth . . . she’s weird and lovable in equal measure. The last thing Barclay Lucas needs is a liability. He’s made it into the cabinet with single-minded determination, sheer grit, and serious conservatism. But then a crazy, pink-haired, tiny dynamo turns his life upside-down and serious for Barclay is a thing of the past. But he’s never liked feeling out of control – something he experiences with Kira on a daily basis. So he pushes her away when she needs him the most, and unfortunately for him she retreats at head-spinning speed. It’s only then he realizes that although being with Kira is anything but easy, the grey, boring alternative is far worse. He’ll have to use all his hard-earned political negotiating and maneuvering skills to get her back. Because after being dragged from black and white into full Technicolor with Kira, Barclay knows that, however serious and worthy his life is, he can’t live it without her.

Anything but Easy is a romance with all the feels. There is drama, giggles, and fair warning- plenty of swearing and outrageous behavior. Kira is a wild card. For the most part she says exactly what she thinks, and does everything she can to help those around her. I will admit that her own lack of concern for her own safety irked me a time or two, it was consistent with her character. She generally has zero filter, which both helps and hurts her throughout the book. Barclay is struggling with control and emotions. He has a driving need to fix things, and it was fun reading the banter between Kira and Barclay. I found myself grinning through most of their encounters. There is a good deal of swearing, hysterical nicknames, and a good number of emotional moments. While my personality is much closer to Barclay's than Kira's, I could identify and sympathize with her on several levels. I also liked the secondary characters, and the deep friendships that play such an important role in the book, and know that a few of them have books featuring their own love stories (which I am now going to have to go find). I really enjoyed the read and look forward to reading more from Tate.

Anything but Easy is a book that had me grinning for most of the read. Every Tate fan will enjoy the read, and while she is not for everyone, I suspect she will gain new fans as well.

Hmm, this was.. okay?
I was mostly invested in Henry, a secondary character, which doesn't speak to the main characters really.

To be honest, I just didn't really connect with the couple. The hero was straightforward, and strict without much change, aside from stopping being an asshole at times. The heroine was fun and quirky, and sure, shake up the establishment, but at times it really did veer towards inappropriate and not showing any decorum or respect, then it was less fun and more "anyone who takes anything serious is a boring dick". Which was too strong for me.

Also, the blurb insinuates that the grovelling and such will be the main part of the book, which it really wasn't - it maybe came in after 85%.

2.5 stars

Kira Murphy (often refers to herself as a sex health doctor) and dedicated politician, Barclay Lucas have nothing in common but the two juxtaposed next to eaach other made me love their romance even more.

I have to say, in the begging of this novel the heroine irrated me but I kept going because of how much I liked the hero and the story itself. British humor is usually hit or miss for me because of how dry and sarcastic it is but Susie Tate did it really well, I was laughing throughout the entire first half of the novel. The second half devlved into a little more serious note but overall I really enjoyed the romance between these two. I also went into this book thinking that there would be lots of groveling becuase of the synopsis but all I got was his hard-earned political negotiating and maneuvering skills. I did appreciete the fact that Kira wasn't a pushover and stood up for herself and didn't acccept his half remorsfulness. I don't typically love books with main charater's who are into politics but I liked that this was done well enough where I didn't mind too much.

This was hilarious and oh so enjoyable. Anything but typical I loved the narrators fierce belief in herself well until Barclay and his narrow-mindedness. All is well though.

I had high hopes for this one because I thought the plot seemed intriguing and the cover is just too fun!!! But... there were parts of this that ticked me off so much that I had to stop and do something else to calm down. I’d say up to about 70%, give or take, it was a five star read for me!! I love quirky Kira, her nicknames are awesome, definitely stealing a couple of those!! But then that last 30% tanked for me and I was super irritated about what was going on.

*****Spoiler***** Kira and Barclay were super adorbs together at first and I just loved his serious badgerness against her quirky craziness. Don’t get me wrong, I think this chick is nuts. But I totally started to dig it and was just bursting out laughing constantly. Then Barclay started to cut Kira down, control her, and verbally and mentally abuse her.

There is unfortunately no other word for his behavior. He, and his old codger of a dad abused Kira and then said, oh sorry, guess we’re wrong about you, forgive us for what we would believe to be totally okay behavior had you turned out to be as flighty as we accused you of being... His dad at least only did it once. Barclay did it almost constantly. The most terrifying abusers are the ones who don’t even consider what they’ve done to be abuse. I don’t forgive him and I’m irritated that Kira does. After he’s already had to ask her to forgive him for doing the exact same thing.

I’m going to ignore the end even happened and imagine her perfectly lovely life with someone who really won’t judge her and when she tells him she’ll try to behave for the camera, he says, baby, you be you because that’s who I’m in love with. Not think, yeah right. *****Spoiler***** I know I should just get over it because everything seems fine in the end but,... that’s how situations like this usually look like from the outside. Just saying.

I’m probably in the minority, but I don’t recommend this one. I love the writing and this definitely had some great humor, but I can’t get past the chauvinistic behavior. I would, however, be interested in see what else Tate has written.

Such a fun, fun book. Totally LOL moments and dialogue. I love how other characters from earlier books in this series made cameo in this book especially. The heroine is great. The epilogue is especially sweet and ties everything up nicely. :)

Kira Murphy saves the day!

No, seriously. Her antics had me both snort laughing, and tearing up in the best ways. I mean, how could we not love a heroine with a penchant for shedding light on the wart problem plaguing people?
A little unconventional, but a lot just right is how I’d describe this book.
This may be my first read by this author, but nowhere near my last!
