This was my first experience reading this author's work and I really wanted to like this book based on the blurb, but for some reason I had a difficult time connecting with these characters. Maybe it was because I had just finished a 5+ star read and had a heck of a book hangover and just couldn't get those characters out of my mind. I didn't find the humor in much of the scenarios and maybe that's just me, so please don't let my review deter you from reading this book! Either way, I'm sorry that this just wasn't the read for me at this time. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

I loved this book! Definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy heart-warming tales with humour thrown in. Easy to read and I smiled, almost all the way through. There are some serious themes in the story but beautifully written. I left this book a while because I kept choosing other books over this one, to read first. I was drawn to the book by the cover first but put off by the blurb, hence why I kept putting off reading. I'm not sure why the blurb put me off, maybe the length of it and the mention of politics. I felt like the cover and the blurb didn't fit together. Anyway, I eventually decided to give it a go and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed it, the story was great, the characters were charming and likeable. I'd never heard of the author but she's now joined my list of authors that I like and I've already bought another book of hers from this series. Great read.

This book is a FIVE STAR winner all the way. There is a trigger for workplace harassment, so please be warned. This is my first book by this author, but I am definitely buying it, and finding Ms. Tate's whole back catalog.

The world building is wonderful, and you are truly brought into this world, which unknown to me at the time of reading,it is the third in the series. You don't need to read the other two to fall in love with the main characters of Kira and Barclay with some fun brother Henry added to the mix. I can't remember the last book that I have read in 2020 that had be laughing out loud so many times. If you are looking for a funny roller coaster romance with a strong female this is your book.

I started and stopped this book multiple times. For some reason, I just couldn't get into the characters. i do think part of the book were funny and clever, but I couldn't finish it.

Anything but Easy by Susie Tate was such an adorable book! Kira was a great protagonist! She was strong and brave but the book portrayed her insecurities really well too. Kira and Barclay had extremely different personalities but they balanced each other really well. It was an opposites attract story, but they came together in a really beautiful way! The story itself was fun and light-hearted. It made me laugh out loud a couple of times. While the book definitely touched on some more serious topics, overall it was still a very light-hearted pick me up! This was my first book by Susie Tate and it was really good! Definitely recommend this if you're looking for a fun romance!

While the synopsis was what drew me in, I quickly started rolling my eyes in exasperation as I read Anything but Easy. The opposites-attract trope is usually a winning one for me but the character of Kira was just too much and for me, totally unbelievable. I love a quirky character but I feel like the author went way too far. While I think the book did get better as it went along and the ending was a nice touch, it was too late for me to fall in love with the story. (Also, there are certain topics that aren't jokes and the author crosses the line a couple of times for me).

I laughed a lot while reading this book and also cringed a little reading this. The overall story was really fun and unique with it's character's jobs, situations in life and how they all connected - parts were quite touching and interesting. The romance was great too and I loved Barclay and Kira's connection and seeing the relationship develop!

However, I couldn't like Kira for about 70% of this book, on and off, as her reactions and exuberance made her seem SO attention-seeking and annoying - she was definitely the most over the top, unbelievable friend I could ever imagine which had me disconnecting from the story at points.

I am so glad I continued reading though, as I loved the romance between her and Barclay. I also came to understand her actions were for exactly that reason I disliked - she owned her confidence and carefree attitude, as well as her eccentricities and to hell with anyone who didn't like it - it came to be inspiring by the end. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, easy read and an enjoyable romance!

An entertaining and fun read. Kira Murphy is a doctor who, although she seems small, has a unique personality since she speaks what she thinks although perhaps not always in the best way, not only that but she has a crush with the Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth. On the other hand, Barclay Lucas managed to arrive at the cabinet with determination, very serious conservatism but above all to have control, which is what he likes the most. However, when he meets Kira he is stressed as she causes him to lose control on a daily basis. Barclay does everything to push her away especially when she needs him the most. Kira gets angry and now Barclay has to use all his skills to make up for his mistake. A book that made me laugh, Kira is a very nice girl, super-intelligent, and has that personality that makes you like her. I really like the way Kira conducts herself at work, although sometimes I feel like she's overdoing it a bit. Overall, I enjoyed the book, I think the story is ideal to have a good time. I really needed a novel like this to help take away the stress of last week. It was really nice to get away from something serious to something light and easy. I love Kira a lot, she free spirited, wild and untameable. She is also loyal and loving I just loved her. Though there were times in the book when a part of me wanted to hit her on the head for being too carefree, I just felt that her wildness should have been tamed a bit when she’s working, But that’s just a small part.
Barclay on the other hand is controlled and serious minded. I love a good opposite attract novel and this can be classified as a good one. It’s a good read but not a great read because I felt there were some things that were a bit too good to be true. I loved the humour throughout this book. I would surely recommend to anyone who enjoys romantic comedy.

3.5 stars. Kira Murphy is a force to be reckoned with. She is free spirited, flamboyant and untamable. But having watched her as Libby's best friend and now Millie's, Kira is incredibly loyal and loving, too. There is nothing she would do for the people she cares about the most. She also brings that passion to her job and any causes that are dear to her heart. She knows how to harness her charm towards positivity and self-confidence.

Barclay Lucas, on the other hand, thrives off of calm and control. Chaos is not in his vocabulary, but that is the very thing that Kira Murphy brings into his life. He needs to focus all of his energy on his job as a politician and the reform that he is trying to bring to his country. However, Barclay must interact with Kira because she is the key to his younger brother's recovery.

Based on what I observed of Kira in the past, she is always going to be unpredictable and fun. But there are times in the book where I wouldn't have minded if she honed in some more professionalism, given her job (i.e. saying "Yo" to people instead of hello and her wardrobe choices) and remembered that there is a time and a place for everything. Granted, it is part of who she is, but as for advocating for her as a heroine in a story, it needed to be taken down a notch. It also made it a bit more of a hard sell in believing that someone such as Barclay could want to have a relationship with her despite his reservations and reluctance. As far as opposites attract go, Kira was not whom anyone would envision Barclay gravitating towards. Even he himself struggled with this realization. I also found it difficult to believe that Kira's clinic supervisor could erode her confidence as badly as he did because that seemed very un-Kira like. Still, it was entertaining to see how Barclay would adapt and mature in order to win Kira over after so many botched moments of sticking his foot in his mouth.

I did enjoy the writing, the bantering dialogue and the internal monologues of the characters. Even if Kira was not my favorite heroine out of the crew, I did like Barclay quite a bit and will still continue to read more stories by Susie Tate.

After finishing two really long and heavy fantasy books I was looking for a bit of light relief and this book perfectly fit the bill. I found it to be a compelling read and could not put it down. It is so refreshing, easy to read, humorous and I really enjoyed the opposites attract trope.

Kira is an energetic quirky and flamboyant character who is not afraid to speak her mind. She works as a sexual health doctor and is completely dedicated to her profession and also committed to helping people in her community. Despite her extrovert personality she completely wins people over and she is extremely well liked. Barclay on the other hand is a serious, straight-laced politician. I enjoyed the banter between them and there are some really funny and sweet moments. Their paths cross when Barclay asks for Kira’s help following her positive clinic consultations with his brother, who as a consequence is now showing a marked improvement. There is a great cast of supporting characters, the author really had a way of making their personalities shine and they are all so likeable. There are some serious issues explored, such as HIV stigmatism and sexual harassment which are sensitively addressed by the author.

All in all a fabulous book with great characters, a good plot and some wonderful laugh out load moments. This is such a fun story and the epilogue is wonderful. A gave it 5 stars as it hit the nail on the head for me in terms of what I needed to read at the time. I haven’t read any of this author’s books before, but I will certainly be exploring her previous novels.

I loved this book. It made me laugh and made me cry at times. It was a fun escape. I’ve never read about a character like Kira before. Just loved her!

I can't say enough good things about this book. I love that Kira is an impulsive, free-spirited woman who isn't portrayed as a train wreck who is loved in spite of her personality. She is smart, talented, driven and successful. She and Barclay had an intense connection and she doesn't compromise who she is to fit into his life. Her friends were amazing and I want to go back and read their stories because I want more of these wonderful people.

I really enjoy this author’s books so I was so excited to see this on Netgalley. It didn’t disappoint me either. It reminded me a little of Pride and Prejudice. Kira is a “sex dr” works with HIV patients and has a crush on a certain minister of state. Kira is carefree and a little wild, while Barclay is uptight and a little set in his ways. I loved seeing how he reacted to some of her antics. Honestly she could come across as a little much but I think they balanced each other out rather well. Henry was a fave for me and it was great seeing Millie’s tough guy routine. I recommend all of this author’s books so def check this one out.

It took me a bit to get into this book but I really found myself enjoying it. I love how you can see Kira's character unfold over the book, realizing how much she devotes to others. The epilogue left things tied up nicely although I would always like to read a sequel and see how the Lucas families are doing!

This book was actually quite delightful. At first, I thought, "ok, Ki Ki is just WAAAAYYY too over the top," but while that is kind of the point, it's more about how she's her own person and has the confidence to do what she wants. That doesn't mean she doesn't care; on the contrary, she's very sensitive. I'll admit that in the first couple chapters, I wasn't the biggest fan because I found her a little annoying, but I kept reading and she is actually awesome and isn't trying to be anyone but herself. I recommend it as a fun, easy read.

This book had me crying I was laughing so hard at points! It also had some serious moments as well. Def recommend!

Dr Kira Murphy is a sexual health doctor and works with patients with sexual diseases often in very unconventional ways. Her free spirit and lovable personality makes her a popular doctor and friend. When she helps Henry who has been diagnosed with HIV turn his life and attitude around she has no idea how much it will turn her world upside down. After seeing the huge changes in Henry after his visit with Dr Murphy Henry’s brother serious and straight laced Barclay approaches Kira and asks her to work with Henry on an ongoing basis. Kira is speechless not because of the offer but because Barclays is her celebrity crush. He is a minister in the British parliament and she has been adoring him from afar. Even with her crush offering her money she refuses to do it for pay and insists she will do it as a friend to Henry.
After a drunken night at Barclays and Henry’s house resulting in Kira sleeping there overnight she walk out the front door the next morning to find the footpath covered with reporters. Never one to shy away from free publicity Kira launches in to speeches about vaccines for young people and then provides free tea and biscuits to the reporters. This interaction has a positive outcome for Barclay and increases his popularity so he propositions Kira again and asks her to be his date to a few events. This is to be strictly a business agreement but Barclay finds himself drawn to Kira and her carefree ways and cannot get her out of his head.
Meanwhile Kira is struggling with an educator at work who creeps her out and makes unwanted advances towards her. Although others ask her if she is okay when they see her upset after seeing him she is not willing to burden them with this or report the educator for fear of not being believed.
This book made me laugh right from the first page. Kira was such a beautiful character that was quirky and carefree but also passionate about helping others in not only her life but in the community. There were some very serious topics that were tackled that I thought they were written and addressed fantastically. Henry’s story about acceptance of his diagnosis was a long road for him but with Kira’s sometimes soft sometimes harsh support he was able to,overcome his demons and start living his life. Her relationship with Barclay was full of laughter and tear and his growth as a person was also a great storyline.
I could not put this book down and I read it in one sitting (it is currently 2.30am). Fantastic for anyone wanting to laugh, cry and read about some serious and not so serious topics all in one.
