The author's story of what it takes to get back up after hardship is something that all of us can relate to. I enjoyed this story, as the characters and setting were easy to visualize and the story was relatable.

Written from the heart and rife with emotion, this book weaves an intimate tale of Spain in recent decades, but also a narrative about everything that reminds us we are vulnerable beings, about the need to get up and move on when it seems all but impossible, when almost all the ties that united us to others have vanished or been broken. Somehow, through all this, we survive. Masterfully translated by Andrea Rosenberg.
