“My sister holds the key to my sanity, even though I never gave it to her.” Rose and Fern share a bond that can not be broken. When the past comes back to haunt them, cracks begin to form in their seemingly close relationship. Manipulation, deception and betrayal come to light as truths are revealed and lives are changed forever. When does protecting someone become controlling them? Sally Hepworth expertly crafts this character driven original story that is compelling as well as suspenseful. This is an emotional book that brought me to tears and touched my heart while keeping me in suspense until the final page. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have read two books by Hepworth so far and they are quickly becoming a favorite! I love how they read and how I keep guessing what happened until the end. I loved Fern so much in this book. Thank you so much!

This book kept me on my toes!! In typical Sally Hepworth fashion I kept turning the pages until I was finished because I could not put this down!! I definitely switched between sides and my alliances were flexible throughout. At times I felt like I was reading Eleanor Olyphant, and then it switched to a thriller-style plot, and this back and forth was perfectly paced.

I received an advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
After liking The Mother-In-Law, I was eager to read The Good Sister, which had amazing reviews. I couldn’t agree more: I simply loved this book. Fern is reminiscent of Eleanor Oliphant, and all the characters are interesting without being overdone. The narrating is brilliant, as each sister tells her own story-- what is a truth, anyway, except one person’s version of a story?
I will say, however, that “thriller” or “domestic suspense” is a bit of a misnomer. Most of the book is drama, with some suspenseful parts.

I will happily read anything that Sally Hepworth writes. While this wasn't necessarily a thriller and easy to figure out, Hepworth's writing flows and engages all readers. I adored Fern. One of my favorite book characters and she was perfectly depicted.

A big fan of Sally Hepworth, this one did not disappoint. I was warned this wasn't her best work, but as a new mom, I loved it!

What a twisted tale this was! I would not categorize this as a thriller/suspense/mystery. I would say it’s more on the lines of a domestic drama with just a hint of a mystery. Fern and Rose are fraternal twins and have a lot of secrets between them. When Rose cannot get pregnant, Fern jumps at the chance to pay Rose back for all her help as a child so she volunteers to carry a baby for Rose. The book alternates POV with journal entries as well. The characters were fully fleshed out and stood on their own quite well. The pace moved a little slow for me in the middle but it paid off in the end. The ending gave you the closure and answers you needed for everything. It was twisty, crazy, entertaining and I would definitely recommend it.

This is my second Sally Hepworth book and she's becoming one of my favorite go-to authors!! I love the family dynamic of this book and how mental illness takes a role in the plot of the story. I devoured this in a day, because there was no stopping point! I needed to know what happened.

Absolutely love this book.! I felt it was very well written and had a great surprise ending that I never expected the characters were very well described to.

I hadn't read anything by Sally Hepworth before reading this. Oops! I'll be rectifying that oversight after reading The Good Sister. This story of twin sisters, who alternately narrate their story, is fascinating. The two couldn't be more different. But it becomes clear that each has her own version of their shared life experiences - the question becomes which version is the truer one? This is one of those books about which it's difficult to say much without giving too much away. But I will say that I very much enjoyed the read and watching the mysteries of their lives unfold.

This is a story about two twin sisters, Rose and Fern. The book starts with the journal of Rose who has been urged by her therapist to write her feelings as she struggles with fertility . Fern is a librarian and wrestles with relationships, bright lights, loud noises and a break in her routines .

Growing up was difficult as they had a mother who was an emotional hot mess.

Fern meets Rocco(Wally) and they start a relationship until she becomes pregnant and she decides to have Rose raise the baby because she feels she can’t do it herself and doesn’t tell Rocco she is pregnant . After Fern has the baby she starts to question whether of not she wants Rose to raise it. Fern thinks back about her sister’s actions throughout the years and wonders if Rose is the one not capable.

This book was a great domestic drama. So stressful and gave me so much anxiety. Loved the twists and loved the main characters.

Sally Hepworth is a fabulous author of suspense! In The Good Sister, twins Fern and Rose navigate their adult lives after growing up in an unstable childhood home with their mother. Each telling one half of a story, though the audience isn't always sure of who is telling the truth.

Being the suspicious reader I am (especially with Hepworth works) I was able to see the twist well in advance, but the plot was laid out well none the less. Overall, a great read and one I would recommend to many.

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one. I actually started it awhile ago and put it down. I had been seeing great reviews on it so I decided to pick it up again. I am so glad I did!

This story took me on a wild ride once I got into it. Fern, Rose and Wally were amazing characters. My mind was thinking one thing and the author would turn the story to complete opposite. Which I love when a book can do that!

It ended up being a quick fast paced read that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re looking for a twisty family drama definitely check out this book!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

4.1 - really enjoyed this one, especially Fern and Wally - it was a pageturner, and the characters were vibrant, both likeable and unlikeable

I had never read a book by Sally Hepworth and am excited to check out her other titles at my library as soon as possible! This book was such a great domestic thriller. The writing quickly pulled me in and I was drawn immediately to the character of Fern. The descriptions of Fern's need for order and the way she described the sensory issues Fern dealt with, was quite impressive. I also loved the relationship between Fern and Wally and between Fern and her coworkers (especially Carmel).

Fern and Rose are twins, but as different as you could be. The story in this book goes back and forth between Ferns POV in real-time and Rose's diary entries, giving us a glimpse into the girls' past and the difficult upbringing they had. But, not everything is as it seems with the sisters.

I read this book in a day and didn't want Fern's story to end! I am a huge Sally Hepworth fan! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ability to read the advanced copy of this book.

Perfect read to slip away from the 🌎 for a bit.

Loved all the characters, especially Fern. The pace was a bit slow throughout, but those last 50 pages were the 💣! The only thing missing for me was a final confrontation between the two at the end, but I think the author got it right.

Highly recommend!

I feel like the title gives this one away - but even knowing who was behind it, this was a fun read. MC was interesting, and there were a few good twists.
