I enjoyed this children story. This is the second story in the series of the Adventures of Domino Corgi. Domino is having another adventure were he has to get rid of something very scary. This time it a ghost that lives next door to him.

There is also second story that tells you more about Alva and Kellytch. And the adventures and mystery they go through.

This was fun to read about the adventure of Domino again. It had more of the human point of view then the animals this time.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

This is the second book in the Domino series. This is another good story, but it is actually two stories. The first concerns Domino and his new mission to figure out what to do with the ghost. The second story is the story of Alva, the past President of Brewster College, who lived in the nearby president’s cottage. The Kellytch Hall belonged to a miserly, old man, Kellytch, whose ghost now lives in the hall. This man bought the home from Alva’s aunts who could not manage their money well and thus could not keep up the old house. After he died, his ghost took up residence. In this story, Mother Nature has tasked Domino to do something about the ghost. Once again, Domino has no idea what to do or how to do this. To make matters worse, his bestie, the parrot, has been sent off to training and is unable to help him out with this assignment. Domino ponders the task, while wondering and hoping his bestie parrot will come home to help him out. As the story continues, Domino works on his problem, and the parrot decides to leave the school and fly home—but manages to end up battling a fierce winter storm as she does. When returned, the parrot is sick from the journey, and Domino watches and waits, along with everyone else, for the parrot to recover so the two can work on this new problem. Domino is frantic, as he knows the parrot can provide him perhaps his only lifeline to solve his problem. Can things work out as well as they did during his last mission/adventure? The second story is that of Alva, who left a journal, which the author has included. Alva led a fascinating life, traveling to far-away places, encountering many interesting people, and seeing many interesting places. Her story is fascinating and compliments the story of Domino and his friends, filling in some of the missing or vague events and characters.

This story was just as good as that of Domino’s last adventure, The Hexe. However, this story is not as long. It is not totally necessary to have read the other book first, but it definitely helps to understand the characters and the setting as well as the plot. I recommend doing that, as the story will probably make more sense and be more enjoyable. The is not a lot of back-story to help someone who has not read the other book understand or fully appreciate the story. Though Alva’s story was interesting and did compliment the stories of Domino, I found it a little odd that the author included it in this book. I think it would have been better as a single, stand-alone book, though I realize that both stories were somewhat short, so that might not have worked. I found Domino’s story about the ghost to be a bit too short, and, I think, could have been longer and still enjoyable. Once again, like with the last book, I loved the way the author wove all the various parts of the tale together. There were not as many mentions or actions/events involving all the other farm animals, but the story was, nevertheless, just as good. Again, as with the other book, I think dog lovers will like this one. I also think anyone looking for a story that is bit different from the regular will enjoy it. Domino is a prize of a dog. His adventures make for great reading. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

This book recommended that you read the second section before the first, which I did. This method didn't work, there wasn't enough of a story to make it interesting enough to link the two sides together. The ghost was vanquished with very little effort. Really enjoyed the first book in the Domino series and this was awful.

I read this book and the first with my son who is eight. He really enjoyed the first book. This one didn't hold his interest quite so much. I think we were most disappointed in how the ghost was actually dealt with. There was so much build up, but then when something finally happened we both looked at each other asked "Was that it or will there be more?" There was quite a bit of the book left but turns out that was it.
The second part of this book was way above his head. I did read it because I was interested, but he was lost. The writing style/level of this section didn't seem to fit with the first book and even the beginning of this book. The others were definitely for a younger crowd, but this last section was for a more mature mind to follow.
I'm glad we read these though, he was thrilled with them and the dog and bird really held his interest as well as the dog continually questioning his abilities but being able to accomplish more than he expected. Definitely a great talking point with my son!

Domino is a Welsh Corgi that lives next to Kellytch Hall. Sadly it is haunted by a wicked ghost who was the previous owner. In the past, a woman named Alva lived there with her two “aunties” until Louis Kellytch bought it due to not enough money. Why didn’t the aunties not have enough money? Alva had a wonderful adventure with the captain on a ship to China. Alva wrote a journal about that adventure in a code that was difficult to decipher. Domino is given a project to do from Mother Nature. What is the project? Domino is not sure he can do it. He wishes his best friend Lovey, an African Grey parrot, wasn’t away at school. He needs to talk to him about this project. Will Lovey come home in time to help Domino? Will Domino be able to do the assigned project?

Though this is a fast read, the story is actually two stories. One is about Domino and the other is about Alva. In both stories, there is mystery, adventures and surprises. It has been so much fun to read that I could read it again! However, I want to read the next story of Domino if there is one. I love Domino’s thoughts and wishes that he had in this novel.

Yet another delightful book by this author. I must say I missed the animals in the second half of the book. This book was darker than the first with a creepier villain. Domino is such a delightful character I would prefer the book to include him and the other animals instead of the latter half which excluded them completely. The addition of new animals was great. I found the defeat of the villain lacked the excitement that the first book had. This book in general was not as great a read as the first novel. Perhaps the way it was divided up, leaving many unanswered questions. I feel the first part of the book could have been its own novel while the second part could have been a new novel. Things moved quickly on the book and the animal characters are sure to steal your heart. I like how they touched on animal rescue again.

This was an interesting premise but unfortunately it did not bind me enough to finish the book. I generally enjoy reading children's lit, but i felt this could have been more than it was.
