First of all...I love that we now have audiobook options! As a mom and business owner, this makes reading much easier with what little time I do have to do so. Audiobooks rely on a great narrator and I have to say that this one was amazing! I truly loved listening to this. This book was wonderful...of course, because it had a dragon. It reminds me a bit of the Hobbit and other RPG based books or movies. With a great plot and in-depth characters, I was entranced as I listened.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator for this book; he did a fantastic job with keeping enough change with the voices of characters that you always knew who was speaking. However, the story itself left me a bit unsatisfied. The premise is intriguing- a dragon awakes from a 50 year nap to find a thief attempting to steal a sword from his horde. The thief tells the dragon about "levels" and "perks" and the dragon doesn't kill the 'manling' but instead makes him a minion. There are amusing spots where the dragon is being subtly maneuvered by the manling, but all in all I felt the story did not live up to the possibilities.

This review is based on an audiobook. For me this is a combination of the movie dragonheart, the hobbit, and an rpg. The story was was quite unique, funny, and the audio performance is superb! I only wish I had more time to review this book, because when I saw this book the next day it was archived already. Its a good thing thing that I got the chance to give it a quick review and downloaded it.

Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the ARC.

With a name like Vainqueur Knightsbane and knowing that it belongs to a dragon, how could one possibly sit down and read a story about it? If you have been wondering what to do with all the newly found, extra time on your hands, give this book a look and you’ll soon discover that this book about a dragon couldn’t be more hilarious. In the genre of LitRPG, you don’t have to be familiar with gaming to enjoy the wit and humor surrounding Vainqueur and his adventures. Follow this narcissistic dragon, attempting to achieve levels and classes, all the while, guffawing your way through the book.
