An odd rom-com, light on the rom and the com (at least to my sensibilities). The quality of writing isn't great but it's nice to see a Christian author capitalizing on the romantic comedy trend. Would recommend to conservative readers curious about romance.

Oh, My Goodness! This story was such a delight to read! It was funny, quirky, yet, heart touching, and sweet!
I loved hearing Bree’s story. She has a hard time knowing what her life purpose is all about. From the very first page of this story, we are taken on a ride into her crazy unpredictable life. Also, in the first pages, we are introduced to her nemesis. Chip is just trying to make a life for himself, but things seem to get in the way. The two butt heads in more ways than one and things get crazier and crazier. I never laughed so hard while reading a story. It was truly fun to see what each of them would do. Oh, and the tension between them was unbelievable. They seemed to feed off each other.
Melissa Ferguson has such a fantastic way of writing bizarre and crazy things. I wonder where she comes up with all the things these two main characters did to each other. So entertaining! I would love to see this as a movie, I know it would be a hit!
Woven throughout this book there are bits of sweet moments in these two characters’ lives. We see things in their lives that are very relatable to us as readers. The relationships with friends and families are so real. When we can put ourselves in the character’s lives and understand the pains and joys, that is what makes a book great! This author has done that!
I was given this book by the publisher and NetGalley which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was my second Melissa Ferguson book and it was fun to see a few familiar characters mentioned in the book.

What I liked:
This book was very clean- no racy content or language, but also not a cheesy Christian novel despite being a Christian publisher. I liked how the characters worked towards their goals but also reevaluated their goals as they developed as people.

What I didn't like:
I know from being introduced to this character in a previous novel that she had a complicated backstory. I was disappointed that was not included in her own stand alone novel. It was not even mentioned or alluded to but would have really helped understand her character and working through it would have developed her character even more. Also, there was a CS Lewis quote in the middle of the book that was not properly attributed to him.

Overall:
This was a great summer beach reach that I would recommend to just about any reader. It was a fun, feel good novel that was a perfect afternoon indulgence. 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. If you like Katherine Reay or Aspen Hadley novels, you'd probably enjoy this one.

Another fun romantic comedy from Ferguson, with enough serious bits to give it some depth. It was fun to run into a character from The Dating Charade, even though I wanted more details! My only criticism of this book is that I wish it were longer!

*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

Although THE CUL DE SAC WAR by MELISSA FERGUSON is hilariously funny, the story has an underlying seriousness as the author gives us background on the characters and shows how the past has affected their lives.
When Chip McBride moves into the house next door with his large slobbering dog, who takes a liking to Bree, she is determined to chase both Chip and his dog out of her neighbourhood. Chip is not to be outdone by her pranks and does all he can to get a rise out of his feisty neighbour. They each have a lot of tricks up their sleeve and things quickly get out of hand.
One cannot help loving the characters, especially Bree and Chip, who, in spite of their ongoing war, really have a lot in common, with their insecurity and longing to make something important of their lives and careers. They have also both lost someone they loved and both desperately want to keep their rather ramshackle houses.
I am not going to say any more excepting that it is a most enjoyable and entertaining read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
