This was a book that I was really excited to read but that did fall a little bit short for me. The neighborly battle that is the main plot of the story between Bree and Chip started out pretty funny and then just drug on for far too long. I was getting bored with the pranks they were pulling on each other. I also didn't quite feel like the lose ends had tied up very well at the end, although I did appreciate the epilogue. That being said, if you love an enemies to lovers story, this is the perfect book for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the eARC!

Great cover art. A sweet romantic novel. Interesting story line. Believable characters. Nicely written. Highly recommended. Five stars.

This book grabbed me from the start. But I confess, when I found out the hero was engaged otherwise, I became wary. Fear not! Melissa Ferguson is thoughtful even when she wants to write a "light" story and I can say I continue to thoroughly enjoy this story..

DNF - did not finish. I could not connect with the writing style/plot so I decided to not pick this one up. Thank you, NetGalley and publisher for the early copy!

Such a fun read! Clean, funny Christian romance - I recommended it to several friends. Looking forward to more titles by this author - her delight in her characters shines through.

I enjoyed this delightful romp by best-selling author Melissa Ferguson. Her writing style suited me well, and her character dialogue was spot-on.

Bree and Chip have to be two of the most stubborn characters with a penchant for winning at all costs. Although, this seems to just come out in their dealings with each other. The rest of the world gets their very best as easy-going, helpful friends and neighbors. The sparks fly from the very first moment they meet.

I have to mention Russell. I am a sucker for a great dog character, and wow, does Russell ever fill that role. He is absolutely adorable in his devotion to Bree... and Slim Jims.

The story itself was face-paced, hilarious, and touching. The cast played well off of each other and endeared themselves to me quite a bit. Even the mismatched early dates were incredibly likable.

Poor Bree can not settle into a career and somehow ended up as a local historical theater production bit player. All she is sure of is that she wants full possession of her late grandmother's home, not just a third. When her parents offer her their third if she can stick to the same job for one year, her competitive nature is set loose. Unfortunately, the theater is changing direction, and she may be out unless she can learn to sing and tap dance in a few short weeks. Hilarity ensues!

While all this is taking place, her conflict with her new next-door neighbor, Chip, is escalating into a full-fledged war. Their antics are over-the-top and so fun to watch play out.

If a story such as this one is not going to be made into a series, I very much love a good wrap-up epilogue. Melissa Ferguson includes a lovely one to tie the book up with a beautiful Happily-ever-after bow.

The Cul-de-Sac War makes a perfect read for the beach or snuggled up by a fire. I highly recommend it to all fans of Romantic Comedies and especially readers who enjoy a good enemies-to-lovers trope.

I received an advanced reader copy of the book via NetGalley. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

The Cul-de-Sac War was definitely high-up on my TBR and was one of my most anticipated reads. I’m not sure if was my high expectations, but this novel fell a little flat for me.

I am a romance-fanatic, especially with friends-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers. This premise had sooooo much potential, but the romance and slow burn fell behind the other things going on in this story. Due to the competitive nature of these characters, they both play a ton of pranks on each other. In the synopsis, it says “the line between love and hate start to blur – and their heated rivalry threatens to take a romantic new turn”. Reading that, it sounds great. However, the pranks took the front seat to this book for me and the romance was in the trunk.

I did find this book heartwarming. It was a very cute concept and I couldn’t even imagine if that were me in Bree’s place. There were a lot of parts where I did laugh out loud. Melissa Ferguson did hit the nail on the head with the comedy of it all.

Overall, this is a book I would definitely recommend to someone who loves clean, slow-burn romances. I would definitely try Melissa Ferguson again, I’m hoping the next time that I can really enjoy it!

The Cul-de-Sac War by Melissa Ferguson is a romantic comedy. It attempts to be fun with its enemies to lovers trope. I think it was largely successful at this and I really loved the ending especially. I found the beginning of the story (where the characters were established) a bit confusing and found it took a while to figure out what was going on. Overall, it’s a good summer read. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Argh! I was late getting this title, and then missed the window to download. I found it through the library instead and am enjoying the fun. Ms. Ferguson knows how to craft a funny, heartfelt story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. Unfortunately it was a did-not-finish for me. I tried to get into but kept rereading the first few chapters! I will still try this author again in the future!

This one set off some boundary red flags for me. I know it's a common thing in rom coms of all formats to have kind of arbitrary conditions placed on a heroine, which she then has to overcome, but in this case it just seemed like the parents of a 30-something adult were infantilizing her for no real reason. (The house inheritance and subsequent roommate situation just didn't ring true in general. In real life, people hire lawyers.) And the hero's father similarly treated him like a child, which he ended up being grateful for. Not to mention that the pranks and the roommate's personality transformation, which were supposed to be humorous, just seemed juvenile and farfetched, like a Disney channel tween show.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

Light and funny romantic comedy, it was a very easy read with good characters. Definitely recommend for someone looking for a light read.

Not quite what I was looking for. I usually expect my adult romance to be a little more heavy - not that there's anything wrong with a lighthearted story! I just didn't fully read into the synopsis and that's my fault. I'm sure this book will still be well received with patrons at work.

I felt like this book took too long to really get to the point. The romance was pretty thin and didn't really show up until the last 1/4th of the book. The synopsis for the book didn't really match what was going on in the story itself because Bree had a job but seemed a little all over the place. While the pranks were definitely entertaining and unique, it got old and some of them a bit mean-spirited. Chip really should have controlled his dog more because I did not like whenever the dog attacked Bree. While it was supposed to sound lighthearted, Bree was clearly terrified of the dog and Chip just stands there laughing instead of doing anything about it.
The romance itself was just okay. They seemed better as friends once their little war ended. I wasn't really rooting for them and I didn't feel any spark coming from the book either.

This book was cute and a very easy read! Great rom-com that was incredibly funny. Definitely a good book to break up a lot of heavier books.

I wanted to love this book. I did. But in the end the characters just didn't cut it for me. Their was little actual chemistry or spark, and the pranks were childish and vapid. The whole plot just fell short for me.

I will admit that I struggled with this one. It felt a little slow and I would have liked more of the romance part and less of the characters on their own. I did like the characters and the setting. It does have a cozy feel.
