Zone of Action by Cathy Skendrovich presents the story of Cam and Audrey. Audrey is a former soldier, and Cam is an army special. They got together while fighting Brett, Audrey's ex and Cam ex-bestfriend.
The story was pretty nice, but a bit too heavy for one book. I feel like it could have been cut in two, and more explained. I just found it hard to follow it and understand everything. It was happening too fast, but too slow at the same time.
The characters are pretty great. I loved Audrey. She's a strong women, but also knows when to let someone in her heart, even if she was hurt many times over the years.
The writing was pretty great too.
I liked this book and I'm giving it 4 stars!

Cam listens to his gut and that’s saved his ass more times than he can count, but bad things happen when he doesn’t listen, it’s what makes him such a great soldier.
Audrey is a no nonsense ex-military woman who is just trying to focus on moving forward.
The two of them have one thing in common and it’s not a good thing and neither of them can believe what’s happened.

This was loaded with plenty of action & yes some of that was steamy action 😉
This was a quick and enjoyable read.

This is one of the best romantic suspense thrillers I've read in a while. Probably since I picked up Juno Rushdan's Final Hour series. Zone of Action is filled with non-stop action, adventure and romance.
I'm not too familiar with military lingo, ranks, etc. but I was never confused while reading. Skendrovich does a good job familiarizing the reader with the world her characters live in. I also liked that the story was not overstuffed with characters, which tends to happen in romantic suspense. The plot was well constructed and believable. The characters face obstacles in trying to stop the terrorists and the reader is constantly left wondering how they'll save the day. There are some loose ends by the conclusion but that's mostly to set up the next installment in the series.
Characters were great. Audrey and Cam have inner demons that haunt them and they are brought up. I liked that the author included this aspect to their characters since many people who do serve in the military deal with struggles similar to theirs. It made the characters seem more realistic and genuine. I rooted for them. Their romance was also sweet. It was sort of forbidden romance mixed with slow burn. And man was it steamy when they finally got together!
I want to also shine a light on the writing itself. Skendrovich's writing, in my opinion, just flowed really well. This book is about 400 pages but it never felt long.
This story gripped me by page one and didn't let me go until the end! Can't wait to see what the next installment has in store.

This was a action packed military romance. I liked Cam and Audrey. They’re both strong and confident in most scenarios, but have those insecurities that were caused by what they felt were personal and professional failures.

Cam and Brett were soldiers together and Brett saved Cam’s life. Brett and Audrey were dating until she caught him giving troop information to terrorists and turned him in. Brett escaped custody and now Audrey and Cam have to work together to find him and the group he’s working for.

A lot of this book is unrealistic, but it’s enjoyable and kept me reading. Stopping break ins, terror plots and assassinations, getting shot and almost killed - this book was nonstop.

I was in the mood for a romance with action in it unfortunately this book didn’t give me what I was hoping for. The story had just enough action to keep me reading until the end but that was it. And unfortunately I also knew from the start what her ex was after and I figured out the partner he had helping him before he was revealed. This was a new author to me and I kinda liked the writing style but there were some times when I thought a phrase or thought that one of the MC’s had that it was out of character for them.

I have to be honest and state that I had a hard time reading this book. Topic of terrorism in a romance book was okay, but to read one now was hard. Audrey was a former terror cell expert and Special Agent Cam were teamed together to fight her ex and his former best friend who had betrayed the country by selling military secrets. The plot was predictable and the ending was okay. The book does describe the many dangers of being in the military. The character of Zack was great. I’m thinking he might get a book. Overall, I’m wasn’t a huge fan of the book but if you like military/war romance books you will like this one.

I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. Thank you for the copy.

The action in this book was non-stop. From beginning to end the story moved along at quite a rapid pace and before I knew it, it was over.

The prologue introduces us to the hero and antagonist who are serving in Kandahar at the time. Barely escaping an ambush Cam is rescued by Brent as they flee the area.

A few years later Brett is being taken away, yelling threats at his ex-girlfriend, ex-soldier Audrey Jenkins, who turned him in for selling information to an unknown entity. Cam asks to transfer his old friend, who escapes from his custody.

Audrey left the military after a failed mission, that left her questioning her ability to read people, the very thing she needed for her job. Not to mention how did she miss Brett and his odd behaviour before discovering his secret.

Now Cam turns to Audrey fearing her ex will make good on his threats and hoping she'll have some insights into what Brett has planned next.

A extremely well written romantic suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats A perfect mix of suspense drama and romance

Audrey Jenkins is certain her boyfriend Brett a soldier is cheating on her what she finds is so much worse he is a traitor betraying his country As ex military and a patriot she has no choice but to turn him in and act as witness against him at trial. Once he is convicted it will be up to ex soldier and now CID Special Agent Cameron “Cam” Harris. he and Brett served together in the sandbox in fact Brett saved Cams life he can't believe that his friend is a traitor so out of respect he offers to be the one to take him to prison That earns him a mild concussion when his friend escapes Cam is determined that he will bring him back in and he is sure the first place he will head is to get revenge on Audrey so that is where he will wait. The only problem is the huge attraction between Audrey and Cam Can they both survive will Brett be bought to justice and can they have a future together You will have to read to see

A fairly good story with lots of promise. Audrey is a kick ass female soldier who although no longer on active duty has not forgotten her oath. She turns in her ex and becomes embroiled in a terrorist plot. This brings CID agent Cam into her life. He is hot and hard to resist. It is a good mix of action and romance that shows the many dangers and choices of the military.

The plot was typical for a military/action romance which I generally love. The main characters were sympathetic and there was action but something was missing for me and I wasn't pulled into the story.

Those words constantly haunt her, and they were uttered by her ex!!

Audrey had noticed her boyfriend acting really weird, and put it down to maybe an affair, that she could have coped with, what she couldn’t accept was the fact Brett was a traitor, to sell out his country was reprehensible, he had to be punished! And facing him in court took guts, he stopped being the man she loved. It was time to move on.....

CID Special Agent Cameron “Cam” Harris wanted to give his friend the benefit of the doubt. He surely couldn't be a traitor?!
That benefit of the doubt turns out to be the biggest mistake of his career.....

Audrey is living the quiet life, serving her country as a terrorist expert has ended, she’s now a owner of a flower shop.

Having Brett escape him burned Cam, his friend was a traitor, he was going to prison, and Cam wanted to take him there. And now it’s his job to recapture him and put him back in handcuffs.
He’s almost certain Brett will go back and kill his girlfriend, but Cam thinks there is more to it than that, did she hear something she wasn’t suppose to? Or did she have something that Brett needed? Well he was going to find Audrey and ask her. She was either going to help him, or she’s bait!!

The attraction between Cam and Audrey is a slow burn romance, she isn’t ready for anyone yet, and certainly not the best friend of her traitorous ex!!
But as they work together to find Brett, they can’t help but become closer.
But is Cam using Audrey as bait? Will she be able to lure him out? And if Brett takes the bait, will they be able to stop him before he hurts anyone else?

A fast paced action story. A few twists along the way.
I don’t usually read mysteries, but I’m glad I did with this one.
Cam is ex army, a good career cut short after a good friend dies in the field. Taking his training in the army, he becomes an agent that investigates service men and women. He never once thought he’d have to take his best friend to prison.
Audrey is also ex military, so she doesn’t scare easily, which is a good job. Her being hunted by an ex would frighten most people.
They work well together, find clues, working out where Brett might be, and what his game plan is.
The style of writing was really good, very descriptive, flowed really well. Nothing seemed wasted, I didn't get that feeling of page filling.
Secondary characters Zack and Elena were great, Elena is best friend and coworker to Audrey, their friendship is lovely, very solid. Especially when Brett burns down the flower shop!
I liked Zack, very down to earth, liked his sense of humour (hoping he gets a book)

If you like your romance with a heavy dose of military and mystery, then this book is for you.

This is fast paced, action packed book full of intrigue, danger, and steamy scenes. We follow Audrey, a past soldier that tracked down and turned terrorists, after she turns in her ex boyfriend for selling military secrets. Cameron, once a good friend of Audrey’s ex, Zack, requests the duty to bring him to prison. After Zack escapes, Cameron goes to Audrey to protect her and try and figure out why his former friend would sell secrets when he was such a good soldier. Thrust together and battling mounting attacks they are in a race to uncover the truth. Along the way they come to respect and care for each other.
This book starts as a slow burn and then rapidly picks up pace. The military knowledge of the author is evident and makes things seem that much more real, which I really appreciated. I raced through this book and loved all the hot panty melting scenes as well as the strong heroine that could take care of herself and was able to use her past experience and expertise to solve the mystery. Very well done.

Hang onto your hat! This book starts with a bang and doesn't let up!

Audrey hunted terrorists for a living. Pity that same skillset didn't help her ferret out her weasel of a boyfriend was a traitor - selling secrets to the highest bidder until she overheard him one night.
Now she has no faith in her former Intelligence Skills. She has laid out a new life for herself, in an occupation far removed from her former military career. Shame that said former sleazebag boyfriend didn't get the memo!

Cam still struggles to reconcile that the same man who saved his life in the Sandbox is the same traitor that Audrey helped out away. But as a show of respect to his former friend he decides to escort him to prison. Then gets a clock to the noggin for his support! But now that Brett is on the run, will he really show up to get the revenge he declared in the middle of a courtroom? Or will he continue his traitorous ways?

Audrey and Cam have found the most inopportune time for the attraction between them to surface.
But with the able assistance of Zack (a former colleague of Cam and now Author), they are in a race against time to stop more atrocities committed in the name of Patriotism.

Great read! Really loved Cam and Audrey together. They both have hurdles to overcome in relation to their former relationship with Brett and the guilt they feel at not ferreting him out earlier. Zack is a very enigmatic character and I hope that he's going to get his own book in the future!

This was a tense drama with plenty of twists, turns and surprises. It also has a romance that develops at what could be considered the worst possible time. Of course if these things hadn't happened, the main characters might not have ever met.
I liked that Audrey was portrayed as a strong woman. I liked it even better that Cam not only wasn't intimidated but was attracted to strong women. Not that he'd had a lot of time for dating because he had such a heavy case load.
Audrey was good at what she did in the military but she walked away after a disaster that she felt responsible for. The memories assaulted her as did her doubts about her ability to read people. How good was she really if she couldn't prevent the disaster in the field and her disaster of a relationship with Brett?
The story was good when it came to describing the situations and locations around them. There felt like there were several times that certain things were rehashed a bit too much. Like how hot Cam's body was for one example. But maybe that is to be expect, because eventually there was some heated moments.Having said that though, it kept my interest all the way through.
Brett turned out to be a pretty well drawn turncoat. The betrayal that Cam and others felt when it came to what Brett had done was real. They could hardly believe this was from a man they had known but they had all seen the proof.
There is also some humor in the story which I enjoyed. The M.C.'s also get caught with their pants down at least once.
There is a good ending with a H.E.A. of sorts, filled with promise. But also with the opening for further stories because part of the threat from the terror cell is still out there.
"I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”

Audrey Jenkins has a new life outside or the Army. Since her devastating failure cost so many lives there was no way she would stay. Her bad choices followed her into her personal life, now she's giving evidence against her ex in a court martial.

Our heroine has suffered a blow to her self-confidence, but is still a strong and brave soldier at heart.

CID Special Agent Cam Harris wanted to give his friend the benefit of the doubt. That turns out to be the biggest mistake of his career.

Our hero is strong sexy and honourable, everything you could possibly want in a hero.

Although we know the villain from the start it doesn't help to foil the plot.

This is an action packed romantic suspense full of danger and intrigue. Our characters have to foil a terrorist plot and don't know who to trust.

A very exciting story that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through.

I loved it.

4.25⭐

Zone of Action was an engrossing story and an engaging romance. That was well paced and had moments of action, and a big twist as the story reached an exciting conclusion. And I liked the two main characters Audrey and Cam. Who are both betrayed by fellow soldier, best friend and in Audrey's case lover Brett. And they are both determined to stop him whatever the cost.

Would recommend.

**I received a copy of Zone of Action from Entangled Amara Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a honest and voluntary review. My opinions were not solicited in any way**

Zone of Action by Cathy Skendrovich is a non stop start to finish book that will make you grab on to your hat because if you don't you'll never find if you don't. She's a new author to me and I plan to catch up on her other books. It's totally worth all 5 stars and then some more.

Audrey Jenkins finds out that her boyfriend Brett is selling our military secrets to the wrong type of people who will kill anyone in their way. But she's no longer military and now owns a floral shop in Northern California when Cam Harris shows up at her door to let her know letting her know that Brett has escaped. They will be on the run trying to keep one step ahead of GUWP who will they attack next to make their plans known.

Cam Harris couldn't believe that his teammate has turned against the country he fought to defend. When he asks to escort him to prison and escapes he knows that he'll go after Audrey. With the help of his former Army buddy/Best selling author Zack they'll have to search the Dark Web for the group and find out who their next target is. When the attacks start against Audrey's business, Zack's hideaway they'll have to decide who would be the next target as a team. But can they fight the attraction between them?

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Entangled Amara for letting me read a copy of Zone of Action early! This book doesn’t come out until July 27th, so I read it about a month early and I really enjoyed it! I’ve been on a military romance novel kick lately (hopefully I’ll be writing a post about them soon because I really enjoyed some of them), so when I saw Zone of Action available for request on NetGalley and I read the summary on Goodreads, I requested it so fast!

Zone of Action 4/5 Stars

Summary from Goodreads: Former terror cell expert Audrey Jenkins has seen enough death and destruction to last a lifetime. When she uncovers her ex, Brett, a higher-ranking officer in her unit, selling military secrets, she turns him in and returns to the simpler life she has embraced since leaving the army.
CID Special Agent Cam Harris is a career military man with a strong sense of duty. When a military prisoner who once saved his life in Afghanistan escapes while in his custody, he requests the assignment to track him down.
Cam's manhunt leads him to Audrey's door. His prisoner—her ex—will resurface here, he’s sure of it. The feisty woman wants nothing to do with hunting down her ex, but when a terror cell she’s all-too-familiar with launches a deadly attack on army intelligence soldiers and officers, she knows it’s Brett.
Helping Cam is the right thing to do. But the attraction burning between them may be the mistake that gets her and Cam killed…

Oh the drama! Oh the action! Oh the intrigue! Oh the explosions! Everything you could want in an action/military romance! I really liked Audrey as a character and while I didn’t feel like I knew Cam as much as I could have, he was a great love interest. I also loved so many of the side characters (Zack and Elana sequel maybe? Just saying…)! Parts of the second half and the end seemed a little rushed and I would have loved to have more details on how they did what they did at the end, how the twist happened with the other terrorist besides Brett (I’m trying so hard not to give away any spoilers here since I didn’t see any of them coming), and more in the epilogue (but that’s because I love the happy endings), but none of these aspects really took away from the rest of the story/the book. Overall, this was a really fun read and I definitely recommend it if you like action packed romance novels!

Wow! Hold on tight - this is a fast moving book with lots of action and romance! I loved the characters and how their pasts influenced their current circumstances. Audrey left her high pressure Army job and became a florist, while Cam left his Army position to become a CID investigator. When they are thrown together, they are soon fighting for their lives as circumstances get crazy and a man from their past wrecks havoc on their lives.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. This is the beginning of a new series, so while this is a complete book with a satisfying ending, it does set up the next book. The author is on my must read authors' list.
