In Case You Missed It was such a fun read! It was a really cute romance and the perfect vacation read. I loved the author's writing and her use of humor throughout the book. I was actually laughing out loud at some points!
I loved Ros' interactions with her family as she finds herself living in their shed after returning home to London from a three-year stint in the US.
The romance wasn't always the focal point but I didn't mind that! This was a quick and entertaining book that was both emotional and hilarious.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, HarperCollins and the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Sadly this one was not for me. I was initially hooked by the premise but as the chapters went on, one glaring issue became apparent, I did not like our protagonist Ros at all. I just found myself irritated with her and frustrated with her. The romance is barely there and I didn’t feel her connection to any of the love interests. I did however really like her friend group, and I even liked John. However by the time the story ended I was just glad it was over, the plot wasn’t really that interesting and the drama was not fun, there was barely any chemistry between her and the love interests. Overall this book did not work for me but thank you anyways netgalley for sending me a arc!

“In Case You Missed It,” is my second Lindsey Kelk book. My reading experience of this novel proved mixed with a bumpy start and a smooth, stellar finish.

I am rather weary of “twat-faced wank chops” characters and the women smitten by them. For the first third of the book, I wasn’t feeling charmed. Rosalind was on my last nerve as was her family, and definitely Patrick. Even the similes were hitting me wrong. I can almost pinpoint when the story started to change for me. It was around the page where Lucy is described as being charmed by all things Meghan Markle. And then Sumi and Ros have this to say soon thereafter:

“Sumi considered the request.
‘I can hunt him for sport?’
‘Yes.’
‘Like in Hunger Games?’
‘You can go full District 12, with my permission.”

The laughs starting picking up speed and strength thereafter and I relaxed into enjoyment. This also hit my funny bone:

“What was the correct protocol for meeting internet-famous children? I felt like Mary Poppins without the magic bag. Or the chimney sweep. Or the songs. I didn’t feel that much like Mary Poppins.”

I was distracted a few times by editing errors such as: “He was a shortish human in blinding white jogging bottoms, matching oversized track jacket and enough gold chains to weigh him down to the bottom of the Thames tottered in behind the adults.”

The strongest scenes were the ones where the friends were altogether or two people were having heart to hearts such as the candied almond scene between Ros and her mum or the fo yo convo between Sumi and Ros.

Although much of this novel ventured into unrealistic farcicality (sometimes like a Jerry Lewis movie,) by the ending, I perceived Kelk had bestowed enough wisdom and humor that I had a warm glow in my heartlight.

I love Lindsey Kelk's books, especially One in a Million. They grab me immediately and I can't put them down. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with In Case You Missed It. The plot didn't do much to hold my attention for the first third of the book, and overall it just fell flat. I'm bummed because I was really looking forward to escaping in this one, but it just wasn't for me. Hopefully it'll spark more for another reader.

Entertaining with lovable characters. Gotta love it when the awkward girl gets the best guy! I loved how close she was with her group of friends and the self-actualization at the end.

Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella! In Case You Missed It was a really funny and light romance that would be a perfect beach read. This was my first book by Lindsey Kelk and I really enjoyed her writing and her sarcastic sense of humor. I am always a fan of British rom coms and am surprised I am just discovering her. After a three year hiatus, Ros returns from London ready to get back to her old life. However, it seems like her old life has moved on without her in it. She finds herself living in her parents shed wondering what went wrong in her life. I could totally relate to the main protagonist being in her early thirties and feeling like everything is changing. Sometimes it was frustrating to read how Ros kept getting in her own way but overall a very enjoyable and quick read. The romance in this book took a backseat at times but was very sweet and believable. It was fun to watch Ros grow as the story went on and take control of her life. I also enjoyed the pop culture references and supporting characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and Edelweiss for the ARC!

In case you missed the news, Lindsey Kelk is back with a new novel. I heart Kelk's books as her sarcastic wit, compelling characters and quirky protagonists, always deliver a fun and fast-paced read. Sprinkling the magic elixir, readers want to devour the book while at the same time, pull back to preserve time within the pages.

When Ros returns to London after three years abroad, she's eager to connect with her friends and former life. Struggling to pick up the pieces, she finds herself living her parent's she shed, flaming the sparks of an old flame and gaming the e-Sports arena. How did her idyllic life unravel while she ways away?

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of "InCaseYouMissedIt" in exchange for an honest review. Fans of Kelk will fall in love with Ros' vulnerability, quick-wit and array of arresting best friends. Having lived overseas before returning to the States, I identified with Ros' assimilation struggles.

While you're away, time stops and the world you left is a snapshot awaiting your return. In actuality, life continued, friends married, had children and although you're still close, it's different from the past. In case you missed the memo, things don't have to stay the same; the future can be even better if you're open to possibilities.

In Case You Missed It by Lindsey Kelk is a British Rom-Com. It was readable, but I just could't relate to Ros, she just couldn't seem to get out of her own way and I was not sympathetic. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was very poignant and I enjoyed how it mixed humor with a realistic tale

I'd recommend if you're looking for

-A British comedy
-Down on her luck 30 something moving back home
-A shed for a bedroom
-A great group of friends (I got major Four Weddings and a funeral vibes and I loved it)
-A youtube teenage gaming sensation who wears animal heads to cover his identity
-A genus for a younger sister
-Parents who are rediscovering their marriage as empty nesters, with sushi

While this read more as women's fiction than a romance I appreciated that the cast of characters was older but still figuring things out. I related so much to the main character, Ros coming home and being nostalgic for her twenties and feeling like everyone else around her has their lives figured out. She tries to give the one that got away another shot. The dry humor, the realism of the struggles, I truly enjoyed this book.

This ultimately was not for me. I found the characters and writing to be quite flat, this made it difficult for me to connect with the characters enough to actually care about what happened to them. Between that and the painful shoehorned in pop culture references it's a no for me.

Such a fun, light read and I wish it was being published sooner. You really come to enjoy Ros and her tough times. Her character is perfectly written and enjoyable. Lindsey Kelk is definitely an author to watch.

“The only difference between a fresh start and ‘oh my god, my life is a complete failure’ is a good attitude and the right Instagram caption.”

I was fully hooked by the first sentence. This was an entertaining book about the escapades of a 32 year old restarting her life. Ros is at a stagnant point in her life, forced to move back home to a garden shed that has been lovingly provided by her parents, and reconnect with friends whose lives have moved on without her. She’s clinging on to an idea of the past that felt comfortable and was perfect in her mind that she is willing to do anything to capture that feeling again.

The writing with this book felt as authentic and real as the lead character herself. There is a flow to the authors writing that makes it easy to get lost for hours in this book. She is able to make the mundane situations entertaining and fun with lighthearted characters that have depth and realistic qualities that you can find within yourself that make you feel connected to each one.

This story is much more than a lighthearted romcom. Sure the slapstick comedy will get you laughing, but there’s dimensions to the story that make it more meaningful. By recreating the past, one can miss out on a significant future or just simply miss on living fully in the present. There are a lot of thought provoking honesty in these situations. Though Ros is 32, you watch her grow as an adult and work through issues from her past and through her self discovery she finds this incredible self empowerment to go after the things she wants in life.

Ladies and gentlemen… I have found my new celebrity obsession Snazzlechuff. Let give a round of applause for the 14 year old sensation who will be taking over the word one animal mask at a time. And can we also show some love to the amazing support system that is Sumi, Adrian, and Lucy. I enjoyed the unique roles each person played in Ros life and the camaraderie and friendship that will never fade as the years go on.

This was a realistic view that no, you probably won’t have your life perfect in your 30s. A person is constantly growing and adapting to different stages of life and that’s OK if you are still trying to figure it out. I enjoyed this book so much. The message and the love story were so captivating and entertaining. Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins for the ARC.
