I really enjoyed this new rom-com from Lindsey Kelk. She never ceases to make me laugh out loud and In Case You Missed It was no exception!

After a four years spent stateside, Ros is excited for a fresh start around some familiar and loving faces. However it quickly becomes evident that things have changed and people have moved forward with their lives since she's been away. For starters, her parents have decided to rekindle the more physical side of their relationship, much to Ros' embarrassment, and she is resigned to living in the converted shed in her parent's garden. Not quite the homecoming she was hoping for. Ros reaches out to her old friend group including, quite by mistake, her ex-boyfriend Patrick. Her life seems to finally be falling into place when she receives a job as a producer at Podpad. Her client, a teen known as Snazzlechuff has a huge international following and it soon becomes clear that the fate of her job rests on the success of meeting his needs. While her relationship with Patrick is progressing, Ros still feels like something is missing. While she expected to fall into her old familiar routines with her friends, it soon becomes clear that her friends are not the only ones that have changed over the last four years. With the charming and handsome John taking up more and more of her thoughts lately, it might be time for Ros to re-evaluate her new life and move out of the comfort of the past and into this scary but exciting new chapter in her life.
In Case You Missed it is a highly relatable, uplifting and side splitting comical tale about the reality of life in your twenties and the challenges and surprises that come along that ultimately change the trajectory of your life. Ros makes for a delightful central character, with plenty of wit and charm, that will have readers cheering her on every step of her journey. Ros' quest for self discovery is one many readers will be able to relate to on a highly personal level as they will recognize many of the self doubts and struggles that plague Ros over the course of the novel. Ros friends are an eclectic but wonderful cast of supporting characters, each with their own personalities and side stories that add an extra level of enjoyment to the story. The true stars of the show however are Ros' parents who provide much of the fun comical antics that lighten up the story expertly. I highly recommend In Case You Missed It for those looking for complex but comical romantic comedy to get lost in.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cute ROMCOM novel about a young woman, her group of friends, and her dubious life choices. Fun read.

Lindsey Kelk's IN CASE YOU MISSED IT was not what I expected. Hoping for lighthearted, energizing rom com, my experience was more slog through whining protagonist complete with bad life choices, formulaic characters and situations. The meet cute was an enormous turn-off that I won't go into and the story went downhill for me from that moment onward. Once I realized that there was no hope for it, I didn't finish the book -- getting halfway and then giving up on this sad, strained, trying-way-too-hard to be relevant, charming, and interesting. The two star rating is on the basis of the single character who was interesting and well-drawn -- and who proved that there is more to this writer's efforts than this story.

When Ros comes back to England after 3 years, she's in need of a new phone. Sends a mass text to all her contacts notifying that she got a new number. Lots of "new number who dis?" and one unexpected text from her ex. Will this rekindle their romance after 3 years?⁣

➽ Enemies to lovers⁣
➽ Second chance romance⁣
➽ (hilarious) Meet cute⁣
➽ Closed door steam⁣
➽ Career focused heroine⁣

➽ We have our heroine, Ros, stuck in the past, wishing life to return back to the "good ol days". This lady is all about her career! She makin that $$$ (or at least trying to). That being said, there is not much romance. Definitely a lot of "com" but little "rom". ⁣
➽ The humor is spot! Kept me smiling 😊😊⁣

➽ John is a sweatheart. Patrick is a douche. Enough said.⁣
➽ Was there too much going on? Yes. As much as I love a good group of friends, I'd rather not read so much detail about their lives because it takes the story away from the heroine. ⁣

In Case You Missed It was a truly pleasant read with relatable characters and a heroine to root for. Ros treads the line of being too self-involved but her friends turn into mini reader surrogates and say what you're thinking and reality check her. The career storyline was as compelling as the romance, which was fun, and I related hard to watching friends be "further along" in their lives while you feel like you've hit a wall. The ultimate "it's not just you" for millennial women.

The pace is fine, the side characters are fun, I laughed out loud several times to myself. I can't wait to read more Lindsey Kelk.

In Case you Missed it was a miss for me. It captured all the common elements of many chick-lit novels but couldn't maintain its momentum until the book's end. The book's premise had promise but ultimately failed to deliver. I would recommend this book to readers wanting a quick chick-lit fix, but wouldn't say that this book is one of the best in the genre.

Lindsey has written a light, exciting, but humorous romcom that’s perfect for the times we’re currently living in. Ros must learn to accept and move on from her past before learning how to handle the future but that doesn’t come without a few embarrassing bumps along the way. This was a new author to me and I look forward to seeing what else she has coming along.

This one was cute, but not the most memorable. I lasted until about 50 & and then ended up skimming until the end. In a sea of romance novels, I always want a hook or something to make a book stand out and this one just didn't have that.

Hilarious rom-com with a perfectly flawed main character who you root for through to the last page.

Ros's firing from her elite job in Washington DC is why she has returned home to England and not a change of pace like she has told her friends. Fired from her job, homeless, and with a penny to her name, she moves into a shed in her parent's garden and searches for a job so she can move her life forward.

While her friend's lives have moved on, hers is stuck. She's stuck in the garden shed her parents are making her live in, stuck in a relationship that was not as good as she remembered, and stuck watching her life stay in neutral.

The cast of characters is fun, and I enjoyed their storylines. Although I was fairly sure I knew what was going to happen, there was enough mystery to keep me turning pages. Ros's parent's storyline was hilariously wrong, and I felt her embarrassment sing through the pages.

The love story was well-paced mainly. I wish there had been more of a physical connection early, but otherwise, the friendship and feelings developed naturally.

My biggest concern was the lack of diversity in the book. It is not unusual for the genre, and the author did have diverse secondary characters, but I have made it a goal to read more diverse romance, women's fiction, and rom-com's. I like seeing the diversity not be an offhand characteristic but embedded into the thread of the story.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed In Case You Missed it and will check out the author's backlist.

Finally, a comedy that is actually funny. I had plenty of chuckles through this and it was just the right amount of fluff to tame my bad mood. Definitely worth picking up!

I just couldn't really get into this book. I was hoping for emotional grabbing like Mhairi McFarlane but everything felt superficial. There were some funny parts but I was really turned off that she slept with her ex within hours of seeing him again. An ex is an ex for a reason.

Let’s get one thing clear right off the bat: this is a really good book, but this isn’t a romance.

At least, it doesn’t fit most readers’ current definition of a romance. The male and female leads aren’t constantly around each other, the main plot doesn’t revolve around them getting together, and for 98% of this book, they aren’t even remotely close to becoming a couple.

This is women’s fiction. And yes, I know that a lot of people don’t like that name, but honestly, I can’t think of any other way to sum this up. More than anything, this is about the personal growth of the female lead.

One thing the publication hype does get right is that this is a bonafide comedy. I laughed the entire way through it. The inner monologue of the heroine is so quick and clever and very, very British. There’s a lot of situational humor here too. I took over 50 notes on my e-reader and most of them are just “LOL” or “LMFAO” or “OMFGIAMHOWLING”. It really is hilarious from start to finish, unlike a lot of books that are labeled as comedies but usually stop being funny around the halfway point.

Rosalind, or Ros, as her friends call her, is a podcast producer recently arrived back to London from a three-year adventure to the US, where she oversaw a successful podcast about books. Her departure from the states was something of a surprise, so she didn’t exactly save for the move home. Her parents graciously let her crash at their place, or more like, the renovated garden shed out back, since they’re busy enjoying an empty nest and are “getting to know each other” again.

Cue Ros gagging.

Luckily, she manages to (mostly) evade their near-constant sexcapades and slides seamlessly back into her old life, finding a job right away, hanging out with her group of close friends, and even reconnecting with a past love.

The only thing is, while Ros is busy trying to relive the glory days of life before she moved to the states, everyone else around her is busy trying to move on. This is the real crux of the story.

“I want things to be exactly as they were before.”
“But you can’t turn back the clock, Ros.”

It can be frustrating at times, watching her cling to things that her friends have clearly outgrown, and from the near-manic focus she has on recreating some of her and her friends’ wildest adventures, you can tell that there’s something going on with her. Some reason she’s so stuck in the past. Some explanation for why she still thinks she’s in love with a man who clearly isn’t good enough for her.

Enter “Twat-Faced Wank Chops”. Ahem, I mean Patrick, her ex. Sorry, I sort of prefer the nickname her friends have for him. Because it fits. The reader is shown right away that he’s kind of a prick, but he’s a hot prick, and he can be surprisingly honest, and even sweet, so maybe he’s grown in the three years they’ve been apart?

I’ll admit that, like Ros, even though he gave me a weird vibe, I was willing to give him a chance, and that is part of the genius of this book. Not everything is black and white. He’s not a complete, irredeemable asshole. You see the good in him, the potential. And so you give Ros a pass when she willfully overlooks some of his negative behaviors.

Oh, and I should say now that he’s not the romantic lead. Not really. He’s more like something she has to get out of her system. Part of her journey towards realizing that the past is gone, and no matter how hard you try to bring it back, it’ll never be the same.

I weirdly enjoyed this aspect of the book, whereas oftentimes I’m left annoyed by characters who don’t “get it” as quickly as I would. I think it’s because as a woman in my mid-30s, with a past of my own, living in these uncertain times, I do find myself looking back more often lately. And I know I can’t be alone in doing that right now.

Let’s just hope that things settle down and it’ll become easier for us all to take a page out of Ros’ book and learn how to start looking forward again.

If you like great stories about women, filled with humor and a dash of romance, you should definitely check this one out.

Enjoyable read, but not a favorite. I was expecting much more romance than what I received. However, I loved the comedy to this book!

This was a really cute story. I love when romance novels contain great friendships, too. There were some really funny moments, too. The story was a little slow for me, but overall it was still an enjoyable read. Will recommend.

Have you ever read a book that you wanted to absolutely love but only ended up liking? That would be my stance on In Case You Missed It. This is why I would only rate it 3.5 stars that will be rounded up to 4 stars. The writing is really good and storytelling is worth the read. But the plot and subplot should’ve been exchanged.

There were several reasons that I felt that this book would’ve been better if the heroine hadn’t ended up with who she did. It wasn’t that this person was a huge douchebag, the fact is that I think someone else in the story would’ve made a better match for her than someone who’s already entered her life and left it.

Overall I would give this author another try with a story that isn’t about second chance romance. Thanks to HarperCollins and Netgalley for the ARC.

'In Case You Missed It' is more than a rom-com. It is a story about finding yourself. I liked that the former ex storyline did not revolve around an affair, and the overall story focused more on the main character's growth and maturity than in finding a love interest. Well done, Lindsey Kelk!

Are you in the mood for a light, funny and romantic read? Have you ever imagined what it would be like to return to your parents’ home after three years away? Have they been yearning for you or have they moved forward? What has happened to your old friends? What has happened to your old flame, the one who broke your heart?

If you would like to know more, pick up this novel, relax and enjoy the read. It is an easy one but easy in a good way.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

I just could not get into this book. The main character (Ros) I found boring and nothing exciting. I found the author to ramble on about specific details for too long. I couldn't quite figure out what the author's goal while reading , it felt like the plot was going no where 20% in. There where a few parts of this book I found so very funny, but overall I just was bored reading it.

I received this book as an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for a review.

In Case you Missed it follow Ros. Ros just moved back to London after being in the United States for 3 years. After getting a new phone and sending a mass text to her whole contact list, she is reunited with a former flame, she realizes that everything in the past is not as it seems.

This book was a nice easy romcom with less on the comedy side. It was a nice mental break from all the heavy stuff going on in the world. I didn't exactly find the main character to be particularly likeable despite the fact that I think she was supposed to be relatable. The ending romance was really predictable and I called it from about 10-15% into the story, however that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. I really like John's character and that we were able to learn more about his history over the course of the book..
