This made for a darling romantic comedy! This is my first time reading a book by Lindsey Kelk and I found it delightful. This book was equal parts hilarious and charming. I found Ros to be authentic and totally relatable. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I really enjoy Lindsey Kelk’s writing style and this was no exception, I wasn’t quite as keen on Ros, the main character, for most of the book, but I think the point is that she’s a flawed character. She moved back home to England after being fired from a dream job in Washington, DC, and she basically just falls back into old bad habits. She gets back together with a past boyfriend (a total jerk who hates her friends and is equally hated by them) and happens upon a job in podcasting that isn’t quite what she wants. My favorite characters were her friends and her teenaged celebrity gamer, who she’s charged with convincing to sign on for a podcast. It is nice to see Ros’s character development, and by the end she’s almost someone else entirely - in a good way.

I liked a lot about this. Ros and her family were relatable. I liked how close her friends were. I struggled to like many of Ros' choices though, which breaks the spell for me. Patrick, for one, was a hard pass and pretty much every scene with him was me being mad he was there.

But it was a nice story about trying to figure out who you are and chasing what you really want.

I find myself a bit disappointed in this book. It was a lighthearted read, but I felt like I couldn't connect to the main character. The love interest was swoony and their love story was a good one, even if there are some things that could be changed to make it even better. There were also many side characters that could've appeared more because some of them were a bit flat. It was a quick read, and it was okay, but I think it could have been better.

Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this one. It is definitely a light read with not too much depth, but the plot is a decently fun ride.

Our main character, Ros, is a podcast producer who left London 3 years ago to be big shot in America, but now that she's back in London, she wants everything to be the exact same as it was 3 years ago. I'm gonna go ahead and say that the main character is pretty annoying. I enjoyed most of what we get from her, I feel as though she is very realistic in regards to her situation, her doubts, her feelings, etc. BUT. She spends the entire book holding on to the past - which is fine for about 30% of a book at most - but not 98%. It's frustrating how stuck she is in the past and wanting things to be the same, I just wish she got over that a little sooner.

Ros's "new" relationship with her ex from three years ago is by far the most infuriating thing about this book, but one of the most realistic and sad parts. I have plenty of women in my life who this has happened to (and currently happening to). If you've ever been in a relationship where your significant other is constantly letting you down or doing the wrong thing, but charming/manipulating you into believing it was your fault for whatever they did, this might be a tough read. Thankfully, I have never been in a romantic relationship like this, but there are people in my life who behave this way, and once you see through their bullshit, it really is like the clouds open up and the sun shines down and you have this clarity that you never want to lose.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Ros's work life producing a podcast for the top video gaming streamer in the world who is a 14 year old boy that wears a mask while he plays. It was a true gem to read about and an absolutely hilarious storyline. The friend group is pretty solid. I liked all of them. I didn't feel as though they were strictly props for the main character, so that's a huge bonus for this book cause that's hard to find.

There was less romance than I would like. This is pretty PG, I wouldn't even add the 13.

Overall, I wish there was less time spent on the past and past relationships and more on the present and future relationships. In Case You Missed It is a funny, light hearted read that you could take on vacation and read while lounging in the sun.

Happy reading!

Title: In Case You Missed It
Author: Lindsey Kelk
Genre: Women’s fiction
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

When Ros steps off a plane after four years away she’s in need of a job, a flat and a phone that actually works. And, possibly, her old life back. Because everyone at home has moved on, her parents have reignited their sex life, she’s sleeping in a converted shed and she’s got a bad case of nostalgia for the way things were.

Then her new phone begins to ping with messages from people she thought were deleted for good. Including one number she knows off by heart: her ex’s.

Sometimes we’d all like the chance to see what we’ve been missing…

I don’t think I’ve read any of this author’s work before, but judging from this, she’s a solid, capable writer. I laughed a few times, I enjoyed the description of life in London, and it was a quick read. Ros’s mother’s wardrobe malfunctions were the funniest parts to me.

Ros herself was a disaster, and it’s hard for me to sympathize with a character who keeps doing stupid stuff and ignoring things. Like the behavior of her ex—who is her ex for a reason—or the fact that she looks at everything through rose-colored glasses. She’s clueless and selfish, and while I enjoyed her friend group, Ros acted like a spoiled teenager and the plot was predictable all along.

Lindsey Kelk was born in England and Lives in L.A. In Case You Missed It is her newest novel.

I feel this is more like 2.5 stars.
This book tries to pull a Mhairi McFarlane and doesn't quite make it. Book is pretty funny, but Ros's clinging to the past is a bit pathetic. We have to undure her reuniting with her selfish, pretentious ex, when we know ultimately it's going to end, because you can see from the get-go she'll wind up with John the bar owner. Ros's parents are annoying and do nothing to set an example for enduring romance. The "dark disco" is as steamy as it's going to get, in case you were wondering. Lots of telling not showing at the end. McFarlane was sorta able to get away with that in "Don't You Forget About Me" (before loosening up slightly in "If I Never Met You"); it just compounds the frustration here.

I'm always going to be here for RomCom stories. They're the perfect thing to pick up and fly through or to read while I'm doing other things. In Case You Missed It is a great and quick read with charismatic characters and genuine humor that leaps off the page. Ros is back at her childhood home - or shed really - after working abroad and she's searching for the familiarity and nostalgia of her younger years, but it seems like all of her friends have grow up. But a blast from the past, in the shape of her ex boyfriend comes back in her life and Ros wonders if recreating the past is the best thing for the future, or if there's something better waiting for her in the now. Ros' friend group is a treasure and I thought they would be a great group to hang out with. What a fun story.

This is the first book I've read of Lindsey Kelk and I'm not sorry. In Case You Missed It is such a feel-good romance about Ros whose come back home after a few years abroad and how she navigates all the changes at home with her parents, friends and ex-boyfriend ... wanting it all to be the same and yet not knowing what she wants at all.
It's classic "there's no place like home" theme. Lovely book.

I read through a few of the reviews for In case Your Missed It before I sat down to write this review, which is something I don’t usually do. However, I was curious what others thought. There are some widely mixed reviews, it looks as though either readers loved this book or hated it. So my advice, if you are reading this review is to just go pick up the book. If you wanted to read it, then go ahead and read it, make your own opinion about it.

BUT… if you are looking for a review here you go.

I really liked In Case You Missed it. The story was interesting, a great way to lose yourself in a book for a few hours. An easy read with relatable characters. Ros is quirky and fun, she feels like someone that you could just meet and be friends with. I love that in a character. And John… oh sweet John, you just need to read it to know why. I love him. In case You Missed It is just a great Rom Com, no doubt about it. It was just a pleasure to read.

I don't have much to say other than I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The writing is fun, clever, and references modern pop culture giving the novel a fresh feel while following the romantic and comedic narrative that I particularly enjoy. Every scene with best friend, Sumi, was a delight and left me wanting more of her. If every one Miss Kelk's novels reads like this one than I can say she'll have made a loyal reader of me. As a side note, there are several references to British locations/brands that would be unfamiliar to U.S. readers that don't frequently read such works but they do not in any way detract from the story and I think can easily be figured out for what they are by context.

I really wanted to like this one, but I never really clicked with the main character Ros Reynolds and I couldn't keep all her friends straight. Then her obsessiveness over her ex-boyfriend Patrick Parker was really annoying. I feel like she never really appreciated anything in her life and just felt sorry for herself the entire time which made it hard to keep reading this book.

I'm not sure if it was the story or the author's writing style I didn't connect with, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Rosalind comes back to London after spending some time working in America and finds herself in that in between of looking forward and living for the past. She falls back into an old habit, a not-so-great for her ex, while also making new frenemies with a cute bartender.

A little predictable but still a good end-of-twenties/early-thirties 'what am I doing with my life' crisis story with a fun cast of characters. Good friends, crazy family and a not so great living situation have all the makings of a cute story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest reivew.

As a 30+er, I am enjoying more romance novels. Not the ones with the beautiful dresses and sexy, shirtless men (although now that I think about it, maybe I should be giving them a chance), but the romances with the illustrated covers and the titles with almost, but not quite cursive font. There seems to be a lot more of them coming out lately.

"In Case You Missed It" is about a 30+ year old woman that comes back home after three years abroad with the expectation that life will be exactly the way it was when she left. Of course, life is NOT the same. The more she tries to bring back what she missed, the more she realizes that things can't be the same. As a life lesson, it's a pretty good one.

As a romance novel, it was too predictable and forgettable. My review of this book isn't favorable because "forgettable" is the main word I would attribute to it. I finished this book less than a week ago and all that I have left of it is a very general impression of the story.

The book comes down to the simple formula of (generic spoiler ahead)

A) Cute girl comes home. She's cute. She's... likeable? (Honestly, I felt that she didn't really have much going for her and was annoying).B) Cute girl gets back together (against her better judgement and her friends arguments) with Boy A, who is a total duckweed. Yes, duckweed.C) Boy B swoops in at every major event and proves how awesome and perfect he is while Boy A disappoints EVERY time.
D) Girl realizes what an idiot she is, although it takes a couple hundred pages for her to do so.

"In Case You Missed It" was basic and cute. Not amazing, not horrible. Just another cute romance and a story that has been retold too many times to know.

Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I wish I had enjoyed this more- this is my first book by this author and I've heard her previous series were good-- I might yet give those a try!

This was a good read about learning to look forward instead of back. It wasn't super exciting but it did have elements that I enjoyed like the dark disco.
What happens when everyone you know is moving forward in big ways and you are back at square one?

In Case You Missed It is the story of Ros who recently returned to her native England after spending a few years working abroad. While away, Ros found herself missing her friends and the relationships she was unable to duplicate while abroad. Ready to resume where things left off, she is soon disappointed to realize that her family's and friend's lives have moved on without her, even adding a new friend to their group.

One of the first things that Ros does when she gets back is to buy a new phone. She sends a mass text to her cloud contacts letting people know her new number and that she's back in London. This text results in a new job and a reconnection with her ex-boyfriend. In her attempt to return things to the way they were before she left, Ros tries to rekindle the 'romance' she had with that ex.

This was my first Lindsay Kelk and I found it very entertaining. It was a fun examination of how life evolves whether we want it to or not. I enjoyed the humor, it may have been a little over the top in some instances, but I liked Ros's pop culture references and how she could turn a phrase. I would definitely read another book by this author.

I've been reading a lot of heavy books and this was the perfect book to give me a little break. It was light hearted, fun and breezy rom-com and I'm not usually a fan of rom-coms. This really was a fun book that I found myself laughing out loud at times. I don't want to rehash the story, because the description of the book is always better. That being said, I loved Ros. Loved loved LOVED her. She is probably one of the most relatable rom-com characters that I have read in a long time and seriously it was great. Reading a character who is not afraid to show her faults and admit her self doubts. Even the secondary characters were great.

Thank you so much to #Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

This is frothy fluff in the best possible way. There is a gaggle of hilarious yet supportive friends, a smarmy ex-boyfriend, an absurd new job and a mortal enemy who happens to be dreamy and always there for the protagonist. I could not put this book down. So many perfectly placed pop culture references and so many guffaw moments. A perfect end of the summer read full of warm fuzzies that made the stress ooze away.

A cute, fun read with nice laugh-out-loud moments. Liked the pop culture references and London setting. My drawbacks were that I didn't understand Ros's level of frustration. Her problems didn't seem as bad as she perceived them, which was a large portion of the storyline. And often times her sarcasm was excessive and not likable. I enjoyed her friends and wished for more plot development and romantic scenes between John and Ros.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review.

I requested this book because I've heard amazing things about the author and I was so excited to be awarded an ARC. The premise sounded great to me! In the end, I ended up DNFing at 50%
The heroine was making bad choices that were stressful for me to read. She was too wistful about holding onto the past.
I really liked John and wished I would've gotten more scenes with him at this point.
I enjoyed the writing style a lot and found it witty! I would definitely pick up another book by the author - but overall this one just wasn't for me.

thank you to netgalley and harper collins for this advanced readers copy!
