This book is so important. The illustrations are beautiful and the story of engaging enough to keep a child’s attention even while teaching the important lesson of conservation. I do think there may be too much info packed onto the four pages that talk about the plastic problem, but other than that, the book was fantastic. I will definitely be reading this book to my boys to enforce the importance of caring for the earth.

Read with my boys. My 7 year old loved it, he is a huge wildlife lover and recycler. It was a bit above my 4 year olds head. The illustrations though... top notch!

A charming story introducing the idea that waste is polluting life in the ocean, ending with a gentle call to action. (The reading pace felt natural and appropriate until the children started talking about pollution and recycling. The text became heavy and preachy, but at least it was informative and helpful.)

Good point on taking care of our environment but it was too wordy for me. I find kids losing their interest in long books when reading aloud. I

This was a great book about plastics in the ocean and how they are impacting wildlife.
Finn and his dog, Skip, wake up early to go fishing, but they don't catch a single fish. Skip dives into the water to investigate, and comes back covered in garbage. Finn realizes that there is so much garbage in the water that all of the wildlife is gone. With the help of some beach cleaners, Finn learns different ways that he can help prevent more garbage from ending up in the oceans.
I think that this book would be a great read aloud for school-age children (perhaps 5-8 years old) to introduce them to topics of recycling and ocean conservation.

This book accessibly and clearly tells the story of the what happens when an ocean gets polluted with discarded litter. The illustrations are delightful, especially the speech bubbles, and help further the story. Possibly the best part of the book is the section of concrete action steps. It's a great addition to library collections!
