Summer at Hope Haven has the full gamut of emotions from extreme sorrow to newfound joy. Emily has returned to her family's summer beach cottage to restart her life. Marred by a horrible tragedy that she just can't recover from, she reconnects with Wilson and Colleen. Wilson reveals more secrets to her that threaten her stability. Her new love interest, Luke may have committed the worst kind of betrayal. The story was good. I found Emily exasperating much of the time. She reacts harshly to news that she unjustly blames Luke. I liked Wilson and Colleen the best.

Summer at Hope Haven is book 1 in a series.
Emily loses her parents and her only brother in a helicopter accident. Her fiance breaks up with her while she is still grieving. She is in need of a break for the summer. Part heartache, part humor, and part finding yourself. I enjoyed this one and will be looking for for book 2 when it comes along.

This is a new author for me but I have absolutely loved this book and been completely unable to put this one down. I was initially attracted by the gorgeous cover of this one, but the story has been as beautiful.
This is a perfect summer read and has definitely converted me as a fan of this author. This is a very well-written book which has been a fast read for me. I admit to ignoring work while finishing this absolutely gorgeous read.
The author has managed to capture my attention from early on and has managed to keep my attention, which I worry when I try new authors. This has been a perfect beach read and I will recommend this book to other readers.
I absolutely cannot wait to read more by this author and return to Dune Island. The setting is absolutely delightful and the characters are fantastic. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
This is a fantastic book which is highly deserving of five stars.

Emily’s fiancé walks out on her while she’s still grieving the loss of her family in a terrible accident,

She decides to escape, where her family vacated every summer, Hope Haven.

Emily hopes of fixing fixing up the house and mending her broken heart are not that straight forward as when she empties her fathers desk, she uncovers a secret, about her parents.

With loads of questions going round her head, ones which won’t be answered, she thinks coming here was a bad decision.

Then, she meets Lucas, she confides in him and pretty soon it’s spread through the local gossip network, just as her heart was mending, it breaks again as she knows that Lucas was the only one she confided in, so did he spread the gossip?? Was trusting him the wrong decision?

Some hard decisions need to be made, that’s for sure.

This was my "beach book" with no beach in sight this year. A broken heart needing time to heal, a cute doctor, and, except for one, nice people. I like it when the people that I am reading about are people that have redeeming qualities. Oh, and then some family secrets get discovered. A budding romance that moves along nicely. Fans of Mary Kay Andrews will want to add Kristin Harper to their follow list. I will be returning to Dune Island. #SummeratHopeHaven #NetGalley

Emily’s life was shattered when her parents and brother were killed in a plane crash 9 months ago. She has not been able to overcome her grief. She moves back to the cottage on Dune Island where she and her family spent summers years ago. Next door is her brothers best friend and his wife. This is a story about overcoming grief and the meaning of family. ‘This book is sad in a lot of places but it was still a heartwarming read that I enjoyed. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Summer At Hope Haven is about Emily coming to her family’s cottage to deal with the grief of losing her family in a plane crash. While spending the Summer there, she volunteered to paint the local hospital’s children’s wing, where she met Dr Luke. They began dating but that is not the main focus of the storyline. Overcoming her grief and discovering a family secret is the main plot.
I struggled to like Emily by herself and Emily and Lucas together. I saw her as weak and needy, not independent and strong. I felt that she and Lucas had an unhealthy relationship, where they’d storm off and ignore each other for days when there was conflict instead of listening to each other and working things out. My favorite character was Collette. If she was the focus of Summer at Hope Haven, I think I would’ve enjoyed it more.

New series, new author. Beautiful story of life, love and grief. Emily had a big dose of all three! The love of her wonderful family and fiancé. The heartbreak of loss and learning to deal with it. Emily moves to her family summer cabin across the country to be with friends and to get a handle on her life and grief. Of course thru her friends she meets Lucas, an all around good guy. There are many ups and downs, a few twists and surprises. I did predict early on the twists, so no surprise, but was well written and a fast read.

This was a really moving book about one woman’s despair over the loss of her family and her struggles with grief. Emily was a sympathetic character, though at times I found myself getting frustrated with her behaviour towards Lucas, and sometimes I struggled to work out what made her so appealing to him. I enjoyed it though and will definitely read more from this series
