This is the third book in the Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls series. If you haven’t read any of these books, please do it. The whole series a jammed packed with 100 uplifting and positive stories of amazing girls. I’ve honestly read and loved them all since they first came out in 2016. Geared for Middle Grade children, I believe they are perfect for all ages. Also, each mini bio is accompanied with an illustration (also by female artists). Written, illustrated, and about females. Gosh, I really do love this series.

In this particular book, the focus is on 100 Immigrant Women Who Changed the World. These are women who have immigrated from one country and moved to another. We are reading about Madeleine Albright, Lupita Amondi Nyong’o, Anna Wintour, Arianna Huffington, to just name a few. Athletes, politicians, artists, activists; read one story a night or read a bunch. Just read, and be inspired.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the advanced copy for review. As always, it was a pleasure to read and I look forward to more fantastic books about amazing women.

5 Stars.

This book was perfect for my first grader and fourth grader. We broke this up over the last while. The girls remember many of the women they learned about and ask for more information, or what happened in various situations. I loved being able to use this book to teach and open doors to more discussions with my kids. I'll be referencing this book often and look forward to more similar books.

I recieved this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Love the stories but I need more. I feel a little dissapointed because the stories are extremely short! And some of the stories are very small and simple in comparisson of others who are more extensive.

I am sure most of this stories for being vey short I am going to forget them and that makes me sad.

I don't even know what else to write.

This was the first of the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books I've read and I adored it. I loved learning about these amazing immigrant women and their different accomplishments. The stories are short enough to read one or two for bed time. While the book says "for rebel girls", anyone who reads this will find someone they can relate to and be inspired by, as there are athletes, activists, writers, scientists, doctors, and more.

A new compilation of great woman that wishes to inspire young readers to overcome their fears, prejudices and limitations towards success.

Following the recipe of the previous two books (and the additional single story publications developed so far), each woman's story and achievement is summarized in a one page spread, accompanied with a colorful full page illustration.

This time the cases come closer in time, characteristics and realities, exploring the lives of women that, as immigrants had to face not only the difficulties derivative of their gender but also those of their birth place or culture.

Its only down fall , in my opinion, is the fact that you seem to find a pattern in the destination of immigration from most of the women (USA) which made me think on the real impact of change when concentrated in one single location (is there on other placed in the world for woman to achieve their goals?)

An ARC of the book was kindly provided by the Publisher through the Netgalley website, in exchange for an honest review.

The Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series has been on my to-read list since the first book was released, but I never got around to it, so when I saw that the third installment, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Immigrant Women Who Changed the World, was being offered on Netgalley, I jumped at the opportunity.
I loved this book. It was easy to read, the women were compelling, and the artwork was incredible. I wish books like this existed when I was little, but even reading this as an adult was lovely. 5 stars.

Despite the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series being targeted towards youngsters, I found myself as a thirty-something loving every second of this inspirational book and have read each one as well as purchasing several copies for friends and family — both children and adults — and they are always well received. I feel this particular book is especially important due to the division this country is experiencing based on people's views of immigrants; some people need to be reminded just how much immigrants have contributed to our society and societies around the globe. It does a fantastic job of illustrating how their achievements are just as worthy and valid as anyone elses and should be celebrated alongside those who are British by birthright; this is not only a positive message for adults to hear but also children. There's often a disparity between how much people believe immigrants benefit the economy and the country as a whole, brought about by the media and politicians, and their true value, however, there's no doubt this superb and uplifting book rightly sets that straight.

Elena Favilli has once again created a book that is both educational and entertaining and featuring some exceptional artwork, too. These books empower girls to pursue their dreams without limits and inspire children to dream bigger and realise their fullest potential, by introducing them to extraordinary women throughout history. The women and girls featured in this instalment are from all walks of life and from both the past and present. Each of the stories is complemented beautifully by a vibrant full-page portrait of the individual in question drawn by a selection of different female artists and a two-page spread is dedicated to each of the extraordinary immigrant women. Information provided about each individual: their name and occupation, their life story, date of birth (and passing, where relevant) and the country they immigrated to and emigrated from. From a magician to a neuroscientist, a spy to a figure skater, this is a heartwarming and thought-provoking collection of bedtime stories inspired by the life and adventures of 100 heroic women. Roll on bedtime! Many thanks to Rebel Girls for an ARC.

4*
Another fantastic volume, this time focused on relevant immigrant women.
Each powerful woman has their own page with a gorgeous illustration. All artists included in this project are women as well. These trendsetters and trailblazers come from a wide range of fields, countries, ethnicities and religions, so each little girl can feel understood and represented. By the end, there's my favourite part: a blank page for the reader to write their own story. It is a very important project and I always love to read each new volume.

Excellent collection to inspire and educate. I want to buy a copy of this book for all the little girls (and boys too really) in my life so that they can begin to see how these lives shape our American culture in beautiful ways. I hope that through books like this, we can begin to change the narrative in our country and create a safe place to live in again.

This is a collection of inspiring stories of women who changed the world, or at least their part of it.
Opinion
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these stories. I was quite happy to come across the names of women I knew. The stories vary with the type of work each woman did and can inspire young girls to do what they want. This is a great book, not only for the young but for all women trying to find their place in the world.

Great before bedtime story for kids, inspiring stories of women who changed the world, with over 100 stories there's some famous women and some I've never heard of so it's a great interesting mix that will give lots of knowledge to children and parents. I would recommend for the older children in the 5-10 age category.

As a bedtime book this book is perfect, especially for kids who have thirst for knowledge (umm the Hermione Granger type, ignore the pun). With beautiful illustrations and eye catching writing skills , indeed it is a nice way to influence young readers into reading biographies. The illustrations are absolutely top notch. Immigrants have to struggle a lot , adapting a new country, new job , new language is not easy. Tales of successful immigrant women is an underrated topic. This book taught me a few things which are : 1) Never lose hope and accept defeat,2)Stick to your goals and ambition untill they come true. I believe that this book is not limited within female readers, you can read it out to your little boy too. Learning about powerful stories and women empowerment from an early age might help them to understand the concept of equality. As a feminist, I loved this book.

A delightful compendium of short bios of 100 women from all walks of life, with the only common denominator being that they left the country of their birth and wound up living in a different country. The subtitle says it all: 100 Immigrant Women Who Changed The World. Some of the women profiled are quite famous (Annika Sorenstam (golfer), Arianna Huffington (author and CEO), Diane Von Furstenberg (fashion designer), Gloria Estefan (singer), Ilhan Omar (politician), Josephine Baker (entertainer and activist), Madeleine Albright (politician), to name just a few). Others are well known only to those in their own fields perhaps. All are amazing women and their individual stories are satisfying. Each woman is given a page of text and a fabulous illustration.

The publisher says this book is recommended for ages 5-10. I imagine it would most appeal to readers in the older end of that range but that is just based on my nearly-7-year-old granddaughter whose interests right now seem to be mainly princesses and unicorns.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for a chance to read an advance copy of this book.

My kids and I read a few stories a night. The book is well written, inspiring and has beautiful artwork with every page. I am so glad we got to ARC this one as the first Rebel Girls book is a fan favorite in our home and some posters even hang in the playroom. Thank you NetGalley and Elena for this opportunity. This one is a must own and read for your littles no matter boy or girl!

A superb collection of mini biographies on important women. I hadn’t heard of several of these women but their immigration stories where impactful and important. I’m not sure this book is well suited for younger children, I would recommend it for older children with better attention spans.

This was so informative and I think that it's very important for young girls to read. I learned a lot from this and I think that 7-9-year-old girls would love this. The only issue I had with the book Is I felt like I wanted more information on each of the women in this collection, but I think that was just me not being in the target demographic.

A fantastic read. The Rebel Girls books are always lovely, and this is no different, highlighting immigrants to and from different countries and the contributions they've made to their adopted homes.

The ladies run the gamut from sports stars to politicians to artists and everything in between, and there's a wonderful mix of them. I really enjoyed this and I'm going to enjoy finding out more about a few of them!

Sadly my proof copy didn't have the illustrations, but they're always lovely and I'm absolutely certain that they're gorgeous in this one as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in person.

I haven't read any of the previous Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books, but I may have to remedy that. The immigrant women showcased in this book are inspiring and showcase a variety of careers and admirable diveristy. (Though, surely there could have been more than one lesbian?) Also, I'd never heard of many of the women before. Clearly there is a need for books like this.

The stories had to be brief to fit on a single page, but I felt in several instances that the language and concepts had been simplified far enough to obscure their meanings. I imagine they were intended as read-aloud stories for little girls - 5, 6, 7 years old maybe - but I think girls 8-16 could benefit greatly from a book like this with more indepth discussions.

The illustrations are beautiful and really helped make each of the women seem more real.

I'm going to try to read some of the stories to my 6 year old son because these stories aren't just for girls - they need to be read by everyone to help erase prejudice in this world.

I would *love* to see a similar series focusing on LGBT+ people. That's something else kids need to read about.

An inspiring book, no matter what your age. The Rebel Gils team put together the stories of 100 immigrant women who have changed their world—regardless of their immigrant status. I’d heard of a few of the women featured, but I learned a lot about the contributions of women to history, science, politics, humanitarian efforts, education, advocacy, and sports.

The easy-to-read format includes a short biography of each woman, along with a colorful portrait of the immigrant woman. Own voices and BIPOC artists and writers created much of the content of the book—making it a smorgasbord of talent girls everywhere will appreciate.

This book would make a great gift for Christmas, birthdays, or just-because-days. Teachers and librarians need to buy multiple copies because once students discover representation in literature, the book will fly off the shelves.

Short, inspiring min0bios that can each be read in a tiny gulp. I like that this edition concentrated on immigrant women, many of whom I had not been familiar with. This would be a great book for anyone, but older reluctant readers would particularly enjoy these stories.
