I’ve known for a long time that this book was well loved and after reading it I understand why. Lately, all the books I read fit into my life like I was meant to read them right then and this book is another example of that. I know the situation Abby and Savvy find themselves in is rare, but it is a situation I have found myself in recently in my own way and I feel a lot like Abby does. I just want to keep going the way I always have and take the easy way out.

I love the messiness this book has. Messy is how life is. You aren’t always going to say the right things or know what to do right away. Especially not when for Abby she just found out she has a sister she never knew and she had almost kissed the guy she’s been friends with for years and now things are awkward between them. When you have so much going on in your life, like how Abby is also dealing with the loss of her grandfather Poppy, it’s hard to move forward or even think about what the next move should or could be.

That is the heart of this book. Life throwing crazy circumstances your way and figuring out how to deal with them with humor and bravery and maybe doing some things that are way out of your comfort zone. It’s growing up and becoming yourself, a new sense of yourself, as life adds the the sculpture of who you are.

I loved the friendships and the conspiracies and the hiding, but in the end everything comes out, because you can’t hold back such a huge truth for too long without any consequences. This book is about discovering what you need to heal and move forward. It’s about discovering what will work for you in your life and respecting that everyone else is also figuring it out and is just as messy as you.

This book is funny, emotional, full of pranks and hijinks, and life. It’s well worth the read. I’m glad for reading it now and bringing home with me all the lessons it had to teach me.

Emma Lord's books are like a warm hug! I loved Tweet Cute and You Have a Match is wonderful too! Camp, romance, finding out she has a sister, whoa!

SUMMARY:
When Abby signs up for a DNA service, it’s mainly to give her friend and secret love interest, Leo, a nudge. After all, she knows who she is already: Avid photographer. Injury-prone tree climber. Best friend to Leo and Connie…although ever since the B.E.I. (Big Embarrassing Incident) with Leo, things have been awkward on that front.

But she didn’t know she’s a younger sister.

When the DNA service reveals Abby has a secret sister, shimmery-haired Instagram star Savannah Tully, it’s hard to believe they’re from the same planet, never mind the same parents — especially considering Savannah, queen of green smoothies, is only a year and a half older than Abby herself.

The logical course of action? Meet up at summer camp (obviously) and figure out why Abby’s parents gave Savvy up for adoption. But there are complications: Savvy is a rigid rule-follower and total narc. Leo is the camp’s co-chef, putting Abby's growing feelings for him on blast. And her parents have a secret that threatens to unravel everything.

But part of life is showing up, leaning in, and learning to fit all your awkward pieces together. Because sometimes, the hardest things can also be the best ones.

This was such a sweet read and definitely the first of many I will be reading by this author. I found all the characters relatable in their own way. The romance aspect was written so well.

The enchanting pages of "You Have a Match" by Emma Lord drew me into a story of unexpected revelations, deep-rooted secrets, and the intricate tapestry of relationships. From the moment I delved into the captivating premise, I was hooked, and the emotional rollercoaster that followed left me both moved and delighted.

Abby, our spirited protagonist, is a character who quickly became a friend. An avid photographer with a penchant for tree climbing (even with occasional falls) and harboring a long-standing crush on her best friend Leo, Abby is as relatable as she is endearing. Her journey unfolds when a seemingly innocent DNA service unveils a startling revelation—she has a secret sister, an Instagram sensation named Savannah Tully.

The narrative takes a delightful turn as Abby decides to meet Savannah at summer camp, hoping to unravel the mystery surrounding her newfound sister and the reasons behind the hidden family secret. Leo, unaware of the sisterly connection, adds a layer of complexity as he becomes the camp's co-chef.

What ensues is a heartwarming exploration of sisterhood, friendship, and the complexities of family dynamics. Lord skillfully navigates the intricacies of relationships, highlighting the importance of communication and self-discovery. As Abby's parents reveal the complicated reasons behind Savannah's adoption, the story unfolds into a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the resilience of the human spirit.

The characters, with their flaws and vulnerabilities, are authentically portrayed, making them relatable and memorable. Abby's journey becomes a mirror for readers to reflect on their connections, the significance of open communication, and the surprises life often brings.

The book not only tugs at the heartstrings but also imparts valuable lessons about acceptance, embracing the unexpected, and the strength that lies in vulnerability. Lord's writing is a perfect blend of humor, warmth, and emotional depth, creating an immersive experience that resonates long after the final page.

I recommend this with my whole heart to readers seeking a beautifully crafted story that seamlessly blends romance, family dynamics, and self-discovery. Emma Lord's narrative prowess shines, making this novel an unforgettable journey into the complexities of the heart.

I did not really enjoy You Have a Match. I struggled with the characters and with their POVs. Abby drove me a little crazy and I couldn’t really connect with her. I really blame my difficulty with the YA genre lately. I just can’t seem to get in the YA headspace for some reason and I struggled through the book because of it

You Have a Match was my second Emma Lord book as I previously read Tweet Cute and immensely loved it. This book was set at a summer camp and had all the tropes of summer camp - a summer romance, a long lost missing sister, a mean girl and lots of fun hijinks. The characters were well-written and the interactions between them all were interesting. Definitely looking forward to reading more from Emma Lord in the future.

I don't think I've read a Emma Lord book I did not like. This one is such a cute summer camp story. If you ever liked the Parent Trap as a kid, this is for you.

I received an e-arc from the publisher via Netgalley though all thoughts are my own.

The premise this book really caught my attention and once I dipped my toes into the story, I couldn't help but to dive in because I just had to know more.

I really enjoyed getting to know Abby who is an avid photographer, loves to climb trees though she often falls out of them and has had a crush on Leo for quite some time but hasn't been able to tell him because he also happens to be one of her best friends.

When Abby signs up for a DNA service, she figures it is all for fun though she also wants to offer support to Leo who has been considering signing up to learn about his past as he was adopted as a baby. Then she learns that she actually has an older sister and is very surprised to learn that this sister is an Instagram star named Savannah Tully and is only a year and a half older than Abby.

So she decides to reach out to Savannah to meet up at summer camp to hopefully learn more about this secret sister as well as the reason why she never knew about having a sister. Leo is the camp’s co-chef who Abby eventually learns has known Savannah for many years as they've attended the same camp but also not knowing that these two sisters are actually sisters.

When her parents turn up after Abby has an accident, she soon learns that there's a complicated and heartbreaking reason behind Savannah being given up for adoption as well as the reasons behind the secrecy, the importance of believing in yourself, the importance of communication particularly with your friends and that life can be full of surprises.

Highly recommend this book and I'm so glad that I read it though my heart broke for Abby and her family as their secrets were revealed!

Trigger warnings: secrets, miscommunication, adoption, death of a family member

Emma Lord is one of my auto-buy authors and I am so glad I picked this one up! A fun, summer camp adventure that fans of the parent trap will surely enjoy.

I just am not in a YA mood that often anymore and this book just wasn't gripping me enough to continue reading it. There wasn't nothing overtly wrong with it, but it just didn't work for me.

This was a cute book! It was light, fun and realistic, and was a quick and easy read. I liked the author's first book, Tweet Cute, more, but for those who enjoyed her debut, this is a joy to read.

Parent trap was one of my favorite movies growing up. I always wondered what would happen if I had a long lost sibling…. This story was a cute deviation from the original plot. I actually have known a couple people who have found siblings through dna tests. This story was cute but also real! I enjoyed that. Not my typical read but I liked it a lot.

I love EL's writing and all her stories. They are all so much fun. I really enjoyed this story about sisters and thought the characters were done really well. I look forward to more stories by her.

Tweet Cute was one of my favorite YA contemporaries that I read, and one that was able to get me out of a reading slump, so of course I was excited when I heard about Emma Lord's next book You Have A Match!

The story follows Abby Day, as her world is turned upside down when she finds out that she has a full-blooded sister she never knew about. The two decide to meet up at a summer camp her sister is a counselor at, to try and figure out what went down with their parents eighteen years ago. It was fun watching Abby and Savanna get to know one another, even though they were so very opposite. The romance in the story was cute and understated. This book managed to be fluffy yet serious at the same time. I also really loved the summer camp setting of this book. I definitely felt transported to Camp Reynolds while I was reading it.

If you are looking for a quick and fun and lighthearted summer contemporary read, You Have a Match is the perfect book to fill that vibe.

Okay this one has been on my list forever and I'm not sure why but I'm glad I finally picked it up. I have been reading a lot of thrillers and fantasy lately so I needed a bit of a break. This was just what the doctor ordered. I would have loved for a bit more romance, but it didn't take away from the book too much. I loved the family/found family theme and it had a whole lotta heart! Thank you to St. Martin's press and Netgalley for allowing me to read for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!

Super cute, very reminiscent of The Parent Trap, and so, so fun.

Each of the characters was great- well thought out and dynamic without being cliched. Especially loved Abby and her quirks and seeing how she handles her relationships.

Would’ve liked just a bit more of an epilogue, but I recognize there’s only so far an epilogue can go. All in all, great book and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

I absolutely love Emma Lord and her writing. All of her books are light and fun but always have a little bit of something heavier that gives you something to think about and this book was no different.

It took me a while to get to this book, I felt like I had to prepare since I actually did find out I had a sister I didn’t know about through Ancestry DNA (part of the reason this book appealed to me). I’m glad I finally made time for this book because once I started I couldn’t put it down! It was so well written and relatable.

Loved it! Emma Lord may be one of my new favorite authors! She really delivers. Enjoyed all the inside jokes, and I felt so involved in the story. Great read!

Ugh! I get suckered when Reese Witherspoon raves about a book. I should go with my gut feeling and just pass on it. Unfortunately, this one just wasn't for me. Another try at YA with no luck. Would recommend for someone who is a YA reader.
