I am a fan of Emma Lord once again! She has created a believable world that is sweet and heartwarming. The quirky characters and situations make this a great YA novel! Recommended.

It is a really adorable book with well written characters. I am not usually a YA reader but I thoroughly enjoyed following the story of sisters meeting years after being given up for adoption. Somewhat predictable in a good way, it was light hearted and good read

Secret sisters, summer camp, romance? This is the book my adolescent heart would have swooned over. As it stands now, my adult heart was totally charmed by it. The characters had depth & dimension & were engaging.

The plot was predictable, but that’s ok. Sometimes knowing that something is going to happen isn’t what matters. The mystery is in unfolding how it happens. This one unfolded with unexpected turns & a few surprise transitions that made this a perfect beach read!

Firstly the cover is gorgeous! Go cover making people! Secondly the book was great it makes for a nice read while lounging enjoying the summer air. It had everything one could hope for in a novel of this type, I felt like something was missing though at the end but that’s just my opinion. I couldn’t put this down, and I’m craving more. Loved it

4.5⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book early!

Do you love siblings relationships? Found family? Grandfather/granddaughter bonding? Childhood Friends to lovers? Camp setting?

Then this is THE book for you! As someone who LOVED Tweet Cute by Emma Lord, I was so surprised that I LOVED these characters even more than Pepper & Jack from Tweet Cute. Emma Lord’s writing is just so fun and humorous with a good dash (okay a mountain) of drama mixed in there that I had to practice so much self control not to finish this in one sitting. Lol

What I loved:
- Savvy & Abby’s sister bonding
- Leo & Abby’s flirting
- Abby & Finn’s friendship
- Abby & Poppy flashbacks bonding over photography

My one critique:
- There were a few times during Leo & Abby’s not-communicating-how-they-feel that Leo got possessive of Abby around Finn. Almost marking his territory kind of vibes and it took me out of the story a little bit so I couldn’t give it the full 5 stars because that didn’t sit well with me.

Other than that, absolutely loved this book! I am, obviously, an Emma Lord stan and will read anything and everything she writes next ❤️

“...I almost miss the moment it happens, the way you don’t remember opening the front door when you come home, or how you don’t wake up in the middle of the night to the same loud noise you’ve heard a thousand times. Like this isn’t the important moment, not the one that really defines anything; it’s just a moment built smack in the middle of all the other ones. A moment that carries you through to the next but isn’t any more or less important than the others because the end result will always be the same.”

You Have a Match by Emma Lord was captivating! It put a smile on my face and brought with it feelings of nostalgia for summer camp. You Have a Match explored a combination of family bonds, the relationship between sisters, friendship, and just the right amount of romance. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. I felt connected to the characters and was invested in the growth of the main character, Abby. It was a sweet and fun read with elements of pop culture that would make it relatable for young adults. I would highly recommend reading! This would be perfect for relatable summer reading for teens.

Emma Lord is a go-to author for feel good books. I love her style, the way she tells a story.

This one was everything I needed after a stressful few weeks. It was a breath of fresh air.

It’s just super cute and I loved the family angle the most.

This was a really cute YA book to read. Abby signs up for a DNA service to help her best friend. She quickly finds out that she has a sister, 30 minutes away!! Not only that, but she is popular and famous Instagram. Join Abby and her friends in figuring out life!
I would recommend this book to my kids in my fifth grade classroom.

Wow Emma Lord has done it again. After reading Tweet Cute earlier this year I was excited at the opportunity of an advanced read of this story. It is safe to say that this story was even more amazing and engaging than her first book.

The protagonist of the story is complex and her story is unique. I loved the idea of 23 and me and finding a sister she didn’t know existed. The plot moved quickly and had me constantly saying just one more chapter. I really enjoyed the diversity of secondary characters.

Overall I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, it is the must read young adult book of the year! Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced read.

I love love loved this book so much. Thank you THANK YOU to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC!!!

I read Tweet Cute earlier this year and loved it, and I think I loved this one even more. You Have A Match is the most heart warming, charming, lovely YA I’ve read in a long time. I don’t tend to pickup YA books, but I’ll read any YA Emma Lord writes!!

The writing is just so warm and it puts you right in the scene. You’re at the shore, you’re in the freezing ocean water, you’re sitting on a bench watching a thunder storm, you’re climbing a tree. You get to know the characters so well and you care for them and you root for them.

This is the best ARC I’ve read so far, it felt like a fully fleshed out book with hardly any corrections needing to be made!! I loved it so much 🥺

You Have a Match was the perfect read as my summer begins to wind down. What better way to spend it than with Abby and Savvy, with Mickey and Leo, with Finn and Phoenix Cabin at Camp Reynolds.

When Abby takes a DNA test on a whim, she learns she has a sister she didn't know about, throwing a curve ball into the already tricky summer before her senior year.

Emma Lord has done it again! Lord has once again managed to craft a story that is so fun and engaging while tackling realistic challenges Her characters are relatably messy and endearing and felt extremely realistic. Personally, I really related to Abby's loss of her grandfather (before the novel, not a spoiler) and how that effected her throughout the story. The camp, which serves as a primary setting for most of the story, feels cliche in the best of ways, almost like anyone can imagine what it was like to be there. I loved every moment of this story and can't wait to see what Lord does next.

Thank you so much to Netgalley for giving me an arc of Emma Lord’s newest release.

I think Emma Lord is easily becoming one of my favorite authors. Her stories are swoon worthy and embed so many different themes easily - family, love, anxiety, grief. I couldn’t put this book down and it was exactly what I needed in the craziness that 2020 has been. It’s a breath of fresh air, a sigh of happiness, a head clearer.

100% recommend it.

Emma Lord’s second novel, You Have a Match, is just as good (if not better) than her debut Tweet Cute. It is a wholesome, happy and adorable story about summer camp, first love and sister bonding with some Parent Trap vibes. I absolutely flew through this story!

I loved the premise – Abby sends off her DNA for a 23&me-like service with her best friend and discovers she has a full-blooded secret sister that lives within a 30-minute drive from her. Abby had no idea her parents had any other kids other than her and her three younger brothers – who is this girl and why did her parents give her up?

Abby is a wonderful, three-dimensional protagonist to read about. The main plot line involves Abby and Savvy learning about each other and secretly researching their past, but Abby has her own personal struggles throughout the story as well. She is struggling in school after the recent death of her grandpa, she feels overwhelmed by the pressure of her loving (but very involved) parents, and she is harboring a secret crush on her best friend Leo.

I loved the focus of this story on the bond between the two sisters. Savvy is put-together, charismatic, and instagram-famous. Abby loves photography (with no people), and tends to be a bit of a rebel. The girls couldn’t seem more different and seeing them bond and realize what they did have in common was lovely to read about.

I also really appreciated the casual diversity in this story. Leo is Filipino (hooray for Asian male love interest!) and Savvy is an LGBT rep. I love that I am seeing more diversity in stories when it is not necessarily the main focus of the story – it is much more relatable to real life.

Since this is my second Emma Lord book, I wanted to comment on a few aspects of her stories that I appreciate. She always creates parents that are involved, have individual personalities and make mistakes like normal people. I love how she portrays parents, it makes her stories so much more relatable! She also incorporate social media which is so relevant to our culture today. Both Abby and Savvy used instagram – Savvy with her hundreds of thousands of followers on her health-focused profile and Abby to bolster her photography portfolio. Finally, her romances are so sweet and authentic, but realistic. She empowers her characters to make realistic decisions about their future after high school and not throwing it all away for a boy or girl. Don’t worry – it is still adorable!

This will likely be one of my favorite YA books of 2020 and I am a huge Emma Lord fan now. I definitely recommend this book if you want a relevant, sweet coming-of-age story – Emma Lord does it well!

After absolutely loving Tweet Cute I was so excited for Lord's sophomore novel, You Have a Match. Alas, I was very disappointed. I found myself extremely bored and not connecting well to these characters. I thought the ending was cute, but I ultimately just didn't care much at all about it. I thought the main character was very unlikeable and immature, even considering her age. Overall, just not for me. I wanted to love this SO much! I know Lord is coming out with another novel in 2021 (I think?) so I'll have to read that one to really see where I stand with her writing style. A 5 star then a 2.5. I'm utterly confused. A sad day!

First, I have to thank St. Martin’s Press and Wednesday Books for reaching out to me with an e-ARC of this wonderful book. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This book wasn’t even on my radar yet when I was sent that e-mail so I cannot tell you how excited I was. On top of that, Emma Lord’s previous book “Tweet Cute” was my top romance for the year last year. So. Much. Excitement.
In this novel, Abby takes a DNA text in support of her friend Leo who’s adopted and nervous. Leo is sad to see there’s no new information about his biological family, but Abby’s world is turned upside down when she discovers a secret her parents have been hiding. In an attempt to get to the bottom of this mystery, Abby joins Leo at the same camp her secret sibling is also attending.

This book was adorable. I’m pretty sure Emma Lord’s go to writing style is adorable. I enjoy all of her characters so much and wish I could have a friend like Mickey or Finn. But I think the main thing that the author does well is telling a realistic story. I could believe all the things that happened in this novel--and there were quite a few doozies--because she knows how to lay the ground work and tell a good story with realistic characters. I found that pretty much all the parents were flawed and the main character stumbles from one misstep to another. I don’t tend to rate contemporary/romance high to begin with (maybe it’s because so much world building has to happen in Fantasy that it throws off the curve?), but her first novel got a 4 star rating from me which is basically the highest I rate contemporary/romance novels and this one isn’t far behind.

I think the thing that I rated this one lower than her previous book for is that I missed the romance in the story a little. I know the focus of the story is on this big family secret and all the steps Abby has to take to uncover it, but I adored the two main characters together so much in the last 20 pages of the novel and it made me feel like some of that was missing in the first 300 pages. I know a lot of that stems from the Big Embarrassing Incident, but just a moment or two of them being close despite everything at the beginning or middle of the novel would have done a lot for the romance.

This one is such a cute contemporary novel with a lot of flawed people doing their best, with a little mystery, and with a lot of heart. At this point, I will read ANYTHING Emma Lord writes. Move over Kasie West, I have a new favorite contemporary author. You Have A Match by Emma Lord is out on January 5, 2021, but is available for pre-order now.

2.5 I did not love this. After loving Lord’s debut I couldn’t wait to read this but it was just so boring. I hated the romance in this too it just felt so out of place with the other plot line of Abby’s long lost sister and I just did not care about it.

Wonderful YA novel! The plot is easy to follow with enough twists to keep you guessing but not so many that it becomes unbelievable. The protagonist is incredibly likeable and believable. While most of the plot revolves around Abby and Savvy trying to unravel the mystery of their family connection, there are several side stories throughout that help to drive the main plot forward: love interest, mischievous boy with an unknown past, and of course summer camp antics.

I really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately it didn't hold my interest. There were a few good parts, but overall, I didn't like it.

I loved Tweet Cute (seriously, go read it), so I was super excited to start You Have a Match. Like Tweet Cute, it's the kind of book that makes the YA genre shine — the characters are smart and complex, the pop culture references are abundant, and the plot is just plain fun. I loved the first 2/3 of You Have a Match, but the last part seemed to run a little off the rails for me. So many big things happened back-to-back that I got a little emotional whiplash reading it. If the ending would have been a little more polished, I would have given it five stars.

ok so i adored emma's first novel, tweet cute so i was SO excited when i got this one! the concept was so fascinating!

'you have a match' follows abby, a 16 year old aspiring photographer finding out via a dna test that she has a sister she didn't know existed and what comes after. oh and she's in love with her best friend, no big deal!

I LOVE THE BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS TROPE!!! i honestly wasn't expecting it and even though the book focused mainly on the family aspect of abby's life, i'm so glad emma made time for the romance to blossom. all the characters were PERFECT everything was perfect. leo has my whole heart.

i just loved everything about this!! i cannot wait for this book to come out so everyone else can enjoy it!!
