Loved this Book! The Chance of Love was so beautifully written by Meara Platt. Her books will take you into a wonderful world of historic times.

Oh my goodness, I was pulled into this story after the first chapter. What a fun and amusing chapter that was. Holly didn’t have a chance after that. Joshua was so patient, tender and loving with Holly to help her get past what she went through during her first marriage. Holly was a broken soul from having a husband who didn’t want her and in-laws who verbally abused her, that she’s reluctant to fall in love with Joshua, but the Book of Love has other plans. After Joshua reads the entire book, he knows just how to help Holly put her past behind her and fall in love with him.

Ms. Platt did a wonderful job with the main characters in this story. They were well developed and you felt like they were old friends. I really enjoyed this story and would highly recommend the entire series to anyone who hasn’t read it. Plus you got to meet old friends again with other Farthingales and Brayden’s making appearances throughout the book.

Having read all of the other books in this series I had been excited for this one because it was just what I was looking for. The main character in this one was not some teenager who never talked to a boy before like most of the girls in the series. A lot of them I felt were rather silly so now we have a widow... which I had wondered if someone with more experience could benefit from the book. So I only sorta got what I was hoping for...
In the beginning the book did take an interesting turn when Joshua was in possession of the book and he was discussing it with his brother and friend. Who of course will no doubt become the next victims of the book. Throughout the series the book isn’t ever really a problem it’s a bunch of logical observations but it is not a magic book. It helps people to understand each other it’s a tool but of course everybody acts like it’s some magical/cursed book that means you will be forced into marriage if you so much as touch it. Which coincidentally was why Holly didn’t want the book in the first place and so she ended up passing it off to Joshua after a series of ridiculous events.
I liked Holly and Joshua and from the start I was quite interested in the circumstances surrounding her first marriage and what happened there. Also pretty much from the first chapter you get pulled in. And I’ll be reading all the books that come after like I’ve read all the ones that came before. Maybe another one might have the story I’m looking for? I mean this is basically what I was looking for except at the same time Not and if I tell you why it’s a spoiler so read the book to find out.

This book and series just isn't for me. I would cringe whenever Joshua talked about the Book of Love. I was bored with the whole story.

The Book of Love has been given to Holly Farthingale hoping that she can find love like the rest of her family and cousins. But she does not want to read it or even have it around. So, she decides to hide it in the house next door. However, she does not know that Captain Joshua Brayden, is home and taking a bath in the kitchen. As she steals into the house, she discovers Joshua getting out of the tub in a rather appalling fashion. Joshua does not seem to be concerned as he figures she was married before and must have seen her deceased husband this way many times. Little does he know that Holly hides a terrible secret, that no one knows, and is afraid that she will be disgraced. What a wonderful series this is and each book full of new problems and solutions. Thank you, Meara for a great read and a memorable experience. The Book of Love is truly miraculous.

Meara Platt is a master at romance. Her tales of the Book of alive have never disappointed. The Braden’s and the Farthingales are beautiful characters that you will feel like you know. Don’t miss this one

Holly Farthingdale is a widow not looking for love. Joshua Braden is a soldier intrigued by Holly when she interrupts his bath. The more she resists, the more he is determined to love and protect her. Another wonderful Farthingdale tale!

Such a delightful romp with Joshua and Holly. The Book of Love was at it again. No spoilers here, but I think you'll enjoy seeing Holly become a strong confident woman. Loved how Joshua built her up!

The Chance of Love by Meara Platt is another in the Book of Love series, which is totally charming and I recommend all of them. The Book of Love seems to guarantee that he reader will find his or her forever love and live happily ever after. This frightens many and they attempt to thwart the book's power. That never happens and there is always a wedding, no matter how unlikely it seems. Holly Farthingale Gleason, a widow, is the newest recipient of the book and is attempting to hide it at her sister's, which is just next door. Believing the house to be empty she sneaks over then wall and into the house in the middle of the night, only to discover that her sister's brother-in-law is there, taking a bath. Yes, she walks in on him quite naked. She is both embarrassed and intrigued and a pretty entertaining scenario ensues. Captain Joshua Brayden takes custody of the book and takes it to his office the next day and attempts to read it. He gets a lot of joshing from his office mates, but finally kicks them out and reads.

This is a sweet read about a woman's journey through redeeming her self-esteem, which had been taken from her by her late husband and his parents. The sad thing is, it was done on purpose. In her naïveté she had never noticed. Joshua noticed, however, and as he fell in love with her, he helped her. Joshua was not interested in love or in marriage, but the book and Holly changed all that. There was in interesting subplot which saw Holly in danger, but that all worked out. It was a fun read and fit in well as the next installment. I loved it. I recommend it.

Thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for an Advance Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. In the seventh book in the series, Holly is given the Book of Love and wants to offload it as soon as possible! But whilst trying to get rid of it she runs accidentally catches a naked man in the bath. Joshua has enjoyed his bachelor existence and sees no reason to rush into marriage, but once he meets Holly and the sparks fly, he is determined to heal the heart of this lovely young widow.
Just as expected - lots of steamy scenes and a bit of adventure thrown in.

Another lovely story of the Farthingale young ladies finding true love. This time it's Holly's turn, with a Brayden male, alpha, tall, blond, and handsome! Holly's first marriage was strange in every way, young, inexperienced, ripe for the plucking. Her first husband had sexual proclivities which did not include a wedding night for Holly. Her husband's amour had a brother who was broken with grief by the accident that took the two young men's lives. The Marquess's is looking for someone to blame, and fixates on Holly. Therein lies the best part of this story, especially Lady Miranda, she behaves like Bouadecia leading a charge against the Romans! A very enjoyable read.
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!

A simple kiss on the cheek. "Fire. Thunder, Exhilaration. How was it possible?" were Joshua's thoughts of Holly. Of course it might me that he held the fated Book of Love in his hands.. Yes, I think it has struck again!
Holly was a widow and although her family had pushed the Book into her hands, she had no intention of reading it. Trying to find a place to hide it sneaking in the middle of the night, who should she come upon but magnificent Captain Joshua Brayden rising from his bath in his full splendor? It seemed she could not pull her gaze away! At her insistence to be rid of it, he had taken the book from her for safekeeping...
Love, Love, Love.. wait I am repeating myself but cannot help it! This series has been simply heavenly and with each one, I have just wanted to put phrases from the entire book in my review! Trust me, you do not want to miss this one or any in the series for that matter!
Meara Platt with her captivating humor, sublime characters and endearing storylines has long ago wrapped me in her magic and made me a lifelong believer that love can, in the end, conquer all..

I struggled with this story from the first page. The first scene was so far-fetched and ridiculous for the time period. The main characters were boring and barely kept my attention. The added storyline about Holly’s deceased husband and his lovers brother stalking her was just slime on a rotting cake. Don’t waste your time here.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Entertaining Story about Love and Secrets

She goes into an empty house to hide the Book of Love. Except, the house is not empty, and she gets an eyeful of one handsome soldier without a stitch of clothing. This is the beginning of an entertaining story. Holly has no chance against a man determined to win her heart. The Book of Love strikes again. Only this time, unlike the previous stories, it is the hero who reads the book of love and goes after the woman of his heart. Usually, it is the women who read it, but Holly wants nothing to do with it.

Holly was married before, and she thought that once she was widowed, her past was behind her. Little did she know that her past and its secrets would come back to haunt her. Could Joshua protect Holly? Would she be able to open her heart? This is an entertaining romance with humor and a dash of suspense.

I absolutely loved this book. It is probably my favorite of the series so far.

The character of Captain Joshua Brayden is every girls dream come true. He is strong, dependable, caring, trustworthy, handsome, compassionate, considerate - the list goes on. Most importantly he is there for Holly Farthingale every day building her faith and confidence in herself.

This is such a wonderful book and so much fun to read

Holly had to get rid of “The Book”. The only problem seemed to be a naked man in the way of her hiding it. Joshua was surprised, but not embarrassed by Holly’s intrusion. He was, however, curious about the book and it’s magical powers. Joshua agrees to take the book and decides to read it. As he and Holly discuss the book, secrets regarding her first marriage are brought to light. But what does Lord Rawling want with her? As the situation with the demented Lord becomes dire, Holly and Joshua decide on a plan of action. But, will it have the desired consequences?

Carrying her secret shame, Holly keeps a low profile, wearing dull clothing and staying in the shadows. Yet, when she mistakenly bursts in on Captain Joshua Brayden, she cannot help but admire the man standing before her. Recognising Holly's pain, Joshua finds himself wanting to reach out to her and as they spend more time together, their attraction for one another begins to spiral. The suspense in this book is fairly mild, but it nevertheless dominates the plot as Holly and Joshua try to figure out who is stalking her and why. The truth is worse than they could have thought but with the intervention of Joshua's indomitable mother, Holly is no longer helpless. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the main characters. Certainly, Joshua is the kind of hero that dreams are made of. This is the first book in the series that I have read, but it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a very happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A second chance romance for a widow who was ignored by her husband and verbally abused by her husband's parents. Once again THE BOOK OF LOVE works its'
magic. When Holly doesn't want to read the book, she passes it off to Captain Joshua Brayden. He reads the book to gain insight on women, but ends up teaching Holly about love. Several laugh out loud moments and a few tears. Very entertaining series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

The Chance of Love by Meara Platt

If only there was a Book of Love that we could give to budding romances or newlyweds. I wonder if it would cut down on the divorce statistics? I have had a wonderful marriage for 40 years, but not without its roller coaster bumps, but that is what encompasses a marriage.
I think of all the Book of Love Series, Joshua has to be my favorite hero so far! He may come across as a Rogue of the highest order, but he actually has a heart of gold. He is the one who is the most considerate about his mothers welfare and wanting to stay nearby.
He was concerned about the pain in Holly’s eyes and finding out the reason even before he knew what his feelings truly were within his own heart. Joshua is a man of many layers and right here just shows he has a vulnerable side and family side, but yet he has a protective side as well.
Meara Platt is one of the key authors who has the skills at writing about characters who have roguish ways, but she can tame them without making them sappy. Her books are not cookie cutter and each one have a unique twist that make them stand out from other books. The Book of Love Series is a journey itself of self discovery for the characters, but they also have to overcome obstacles that make them a stronger couple as well.
I hope the Book of Love Chapters don’t END anytime soon because it seems they just keep getting better and better!! Keep writing Meara!!!
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and I am willingly giving my thoughts and opinions!
