Having had some dietary issues in the last couple of years, I'm still on the search for foods that won't make me sick (and I love food - so sad). In reading The Easy 5-ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook, I was reminded I'm not alone. I did learn more about Acid Reflux/GERD/LPR and about certain foods that make symptoms worse. It's not a difficult lifestyle to follow given how simple the author keeps it, for which I appreciate. I'm so sad that many foods I love are on the list of 'minimize' (I love acidic fruits, and spicy food, and carbonated beverages) but I'm also excited to cook with ingredients I don't normally use. I've put into practice several recommendations (especially eating smaller more frequent meals, even using chopsticks to slow down consumption, and eating the last meal of the day a bit earlier. These and so much more tips and tricks have helped and now I'm almost back to enjoying food again. Lately I've learned the value and fun of eating simple due to GI issues and focus on simple done well. I think the author captured some great recipes using the five ingredients. I will be using this book as a resource. #TheEasy5IngredientAcidRefluxCookbook #NetGalley

I really enjoyed these recipes! My acid reflux has really flaired with all of the increased stress lately, so I have been trying to change my diet more as well to help. This book had many great recipes that were tasty and didn’t bother my reflux. They had plenty of flavour while not triggering reflux. Good book for anyone who struggles with Acid Reflux!

The cookbook starts with an overview of GERD, what it is, and how foods can impact the issue. There are charts of problem foods as well as foods that you can eat as much as you'd like. They are easy to read and very helpful.
Chapters are divided by types of foods, including breakfast, snacks, meat, seafood, soups, and even desserts. There are a variety of different recipes in each chapter to give you an idea of types of meals that you can eat without upsetting your GERD issues. It is a great start--I wish there was a greater variety of recipes in each chapter.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley and Callisto Media for my unbiased opinion of the book. I have GERD issues and this book was a godsend! I tried sweet potato hash browns, spinach and mushroom scramble, skirt steak stir fry, flourless peanut butter cookies. I loved the breakdown in the beginning of the book with definitions and explaining the triggers and why it can be harmful or helpful to your system. It helped changed my outlook on it and more relatable. I have several friends with this issue. I will be giving this book for gifts for the next year or so! I will be working my way through this book before I pick up another cookbook while I understand how it all works together and what I can do to new recipes I use to avoid unnecessary flare ups.

This is an interesting cook book!

The book presents recipes that have 5 ingredients that are commonly not GERD or LPR triggers. The book includes an introduction that talks about GERD and LPR and common foods that cause issues and what foods are considered less likely to cause symptoms. There's also a little diagram in the beginning showing what happens to your stomach during acid reflex.

There isn't pictures of each recipe, which I think is a bummer. I like being able to see what a finished product should look like. There's a surprising variety of recipes though! There are recipes that include meat and some that don't.

I don't know that I would exclusively eat recipes from this book to address GERD but there are some interesting ideas.

This is a very interesting book and very useful. It explains about acid reflux and how you can feel better about it. It tells you what kind of food can cause or increase acid reflux and what kind of food you can enjoy with no worries. There's also more informations and tips, pantry essentials, and then the recipes. There are recipes for breakfast, sides and snacks, soups and salads, vegetarian options, seafood and meats, broths sauces and condiments, and some desserts. I'll be making some soon, the recipes looks pretty good and easy to make. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

The Easy 5-Ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook by Andy De Santis
I was so excited to get The Easy 5-Ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook by Andy De Santis. I've been battling acid reflux for over 35 years, and it seems to have flared up recently, so this book came at a great time. The author has also suffered from GERD, so he knows what it feels like and has done extensive research on the subject; plus, he is a registered diet.

The book includes a great list of foods to try to avoid or limit. I had no idea that garlic and onions and even black pepper could be triggers for reflux and even tea. I do notice that chocolate can trigger my reflux, but I love it so much. Also, there are times when I can eat peanut butter with no problem, and other times I'm bent over with reflux pain (same with pasta sauce). But I will be more mindful of these items and try to avoid them or limit their usage to small portions.

I was also surprised to see soy sauce in the "enjoy with gusto" category. Teriyaki sauce usually flairs up my reflux every time, but I can use soy sauce with my sushi and have no issues. Go figure.

There are 100 recipes included in the book, and they are super simple (I mean only five ingredients!), so easy to do. There are some pictures of the meals, but I wish there were more of each recipe included. The descriptions and instructions are easy to follow, and the author provides substitutions and variations for the recipes.

I appreciate that the author included serving sizes, caloric information, prep time, substitutions, and freezer or shelf life. Very helpful.

I don't eat chicken and try to stay away from other meat, but these recipes can be turned into vegan meals easily.

The Easy 5-Ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook by Andy De Santis is one book that I will keep on the counter and use often.

Acid reflux issues....look no further. Recipe book introduces recipes to help stave off acid issues, and gives you tips on how to handle care. A two in one book to help a common issue that many North Americans have.

What did I like? I can’t imagine no one ever not needing a recipe to reset your stomach. This book provides that and many more. Overindulgence, or food sensitivity ..... or you just may need some helpful hints to reduce the acid. Ginger being the main ingredient in most of the recipes.

Would I buy or recommend? Absolutely....why not. Some really great recipes and like I said, you can always use a book to reset your eating. I found quite a few amazing recipes as well although the book did have very few pictures, the importance outweighs the amount of pictures.

Thoughts for the author? Kudos to a great cookbook! I really enjoyed quite a few of the recipes. I’ve always been curious about using ginger, and really love the benefits. Five stars. Thanks to the publisher for a copy to read and offer an opinion.

I have suffered from GERD for close to 25 years so I'm on the look out for GERD friendly recipes. I was happy to find The Easy 5-Ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook by Andy de Santis. de Santis is a registered dietician who has dealt with GERD so he truly understands the discomfort caused by this common ailment.

I loved how he has created simple, delicious recipes that should encourage any harried time starved cook to try. Some of the recipes you'll find in his cookbook include:

Banana-Avo Smoothie
Pumpkin Pancakes
No-Fat Biscuits
Shaved Fennel and Red Apple Salad (fennel is a mild licorice flavored herb)
Grilled Portobello Mushroom Burger
Honey-Soy Salmon
Rosemary-Baked Pork Chops
Chive-Free Ranch Dressing
Baked Red Apples
Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Throughout his cookbook you'll find color photos illustrating the recipes.

Recommend.

The Easy 5-ingredient Acid Reflux Cookbook by And De Santos is full of interesting and tasty dishes. Thank you Netgalley for the early release access. There is an introduction at the beginning that is all about how certain foods help with acid reflux. I have IBS and no gallbladder and was hoping that this cookbook would have more for me. There are some recipes I am very interested in, but about 60% of them don't work for me as they have nuts or other such trigger foods. If you just have acid reflux, this book is great. If you have IBS, you might want to find another book.
