Paige Parker runs a business that helps keep everyone else perfectly organized. And to the outside observer, Paige's life is perfect too. She is so perfectly busy, she doesn't have time to find the perfect man. Not that a perfect man exists, she realized that several years ago when she walked in on her fi·ancé and best friend having sex in their apartment. Nope, instead she is going to plan the perfect singles vacation to celebrate Singles Day! But things are far from perfect when she arrives at a rustic bed and breakfast on an island off the coast of North Carolina. As she finds herself stranded during a storm with her less than pleasant host Paige will have to give up perfect for a few days. Will she like what she finds when she does?
VERDICT is that this is a cute romance that will leave you feeling warm inside. I appreciate the protagonist being a 30ish female with a career determined to succeed on her own. While she eventually realizes she doesn't have to go at it alone, she never waivers on some of the other things she wants from life. Lucas (the B&B host) is a good character with his own backstory. I love the father daughter relationship element and things that adds to the more wholesome nature of this romance. It's not going to set your world on fire, but you will be happy at the end.

Netter Liebesroman

Valentine's Day is just a day for consumerism according to Paige. Its easy to have that negative mindset when you're single. When you find out the day after Valentines Day is a day for celebrating being single...well, you should celebrate.

Paige takes her assistance's advice and goes on a much needed vacation to celebrate Singles Day. Obviously she needs to meet the hunky inn owner during said trip.

And obviously they both have to ignore their attraction to one another, until they can't. Obviously they will also both be witty, and a beach needs to be included.

This was the epitome of what you are looking for in a rom com. I did expect a tad more from this however simple due to the burn that was brewing. There was generous amount of inner dialogue about what they each wanted to have happen during their intimate moments but we didn't see that. We were building up for the steam. We get fade to black and wake up. I'm not dissing that, but I felt like it didn't quite hit the mark there.

Aside from my steam snobbery this was fantastic. I loved both Paige and Lucas. They showed great vulnerabilities towards one another that were the absolute foundation to beginning a solid foundation.

Thank you Sourcebooks Casa ans Nergalley for an advanced review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Paige Parker is a Certified Professional Organizer, making complete control of all aspects of life her job, literally. But there’s one thing she’s yet to get a handle on- organizing her own love life. Overworked and strung out, Paige decides to take a vacation for one to relax, recharge, and honor the little known holiday, Singles Day.

Only after arriving at her getaway destination she quickly realizes that she’s been duped. It’s too cold to sightsee and the place she is staying is not exactly a sight for sore eyes. Making matters worse is the Bed and Breakfast’s grumpy (yet hot, of course) host, Lucas Croft. Lucas and Paige butt heads instantly, but forced to rough it out together for a few days just might change all of that.

Instantly I was drawn to the premise of Happy Singles Day. There are a lot of books out there about women being happy without a man in their lives, but not many that tie it in to the day itself. However, the more I read, the more I realized this book really wasn’t about Singles Day at all. Sure, they swing back around to it eventually, but in the middle this is really a heartwarming story about acceptance, love, and second chances.

Readers might also take issue with the lack of heat in this story. I’ve never read anything by this author before, but it’s my understanding she’s known for writing books with a good amount of steam, so I’d be curious to know what made her venture to a more chaste love story than one would expect.

Given the misleading title, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sweet love stories and finding love where you least expect it.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a fair review.

This one is about a woman, Paige, who books a trip to a B&B on an Island off the coast of North Carolina to celebrate Single's Day, February 15th. The B&B is not what she is expecting when she gets there, instead of charming it's dirty and unkempt and the owner is a grumpy but hot man. Lucas is still dealing with the death of his wife and trying to raise his 4 year old daughter by himself, his sister who tries to help ends up booking him a guest at his B&B. While Lucas and Paige initially get off on the wrong foot the two end up learning that they both can learn from the other person. This was a fun rom-com with a few serious topics mixed in. Overall I enjoyed the story and characters but I would have enjoyed more of the two of them learning to be a couple together. Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks for my gifted copy!

This book was just what I needed!

The writing flowed effortlessly and I loved Paige and Lucas but I fell hard for Maddie. This was such a sweet story about surviving loss and moving on. I will admit I felt it got slow in the middle, but then it snapped back and I devoured this entire thing in one day.

This was my first read by Walker and I am looking for many more to fill the void left behind by this book.

This is a book all Romance fans should read and I will keep recommending it for a long time.
First, I have to say the whole concept of "You should not change your plans for a guy" is something we need to start teaching kids. While love means compromise and being in love is not a weakness, we should all know it also means we're going to love the other person exactly as they are, including their hopes and dreams.
This book is valuable because of that.

I love everything about this book and the characters (main and secondary). Paige and Lucas ─although they were completely different from each other─ were absolutely perfect for each other. Two souls that were in the process of healing their own wounds in their own way. I love how Paige was able to empathize with him and his situation even when he was a little rude and distant at the beginning. The chemistry and attraction was visible since the very beginning, even if they didn't notice.

I believe authors need to keep writing heroines like Paige, who are so sure of themselves and what they want and are not afraid of go look for them. This society needs to normalize seeing successful women in charge of their lives without the need of having a partner to validate them. She didn’t need Lucas but she realized how much she wanted him in her life and he could be part of the dreams she was already building for herself.
Lucas’ backstory was heartbreaking, I was able to empathize with him and understand his struggle and doubts about how things were developing. I loved seeing him putting his daughter’s needs as a priority, their banter and fun dynamic as a little family was satisfying and heartwarming. And I was moved to see him going another step towards healing. Mourning is definitely never linear and it doesn’t look the same in every person.
I loved how Paige didn't let the first awful impression dictate what she thought about Lucas. In the end, he was fighting a battle she didn't know about and granted him the little grace he needed. Once they were able to move past that, the conversation flowed easy, natural and comfortable as if they were long-time friends. Enough for them to start opening up and know each other better to the point of finally being able to be themselves. The lessons they taught each other were valuable, not only for the relationship to grow but for them to conquer the demons they’d been fighting and drop the baggage they’d been carrying.
This was a slow burn written on point! The anticipation and tension build up so nicely and it was perfectly satisfying at the end, although it’s all in close doors.

I loved all the unique secondary characters, especially Luca’s little daughter. Maddie and Paige’s meet-cute has to be the funniest and most adorable I’ve seen from all the single-parent books I’ve read! The connection they made for their love of animals and their sense of adventure was the cherry on the top for the beautiful family they didn’t know they were going to form.

This was a beautiful love story of healing, new beginnings and true love: The one that doesn’t cut our wings but encourages us to fly as high as we can.

First I'd like to thank Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS for an ear of this book.

Next I'd like to tell you a bit about this book.

This book is about a Paige who has become a workaholic because of what happened in her past. She decides to go on a weeks vacation and takes a test for her perfect vacation and it takes her to this B&B on this little island off South Carolina. When she gets there its not at all like the pictures online.

We also have Lucas who is a single dad and owner of B&B. He lost his wife a few years back and has since let the place go. He doesn't want her there and is insulted when she starts to say things about his home. Together they work on letting go of the past and moving on.

Last my thoughts.. This is my first book from this author and let me just say I will continue to read books that she writes. This had my emotions going crazy. She makes you feel what the characters feel. She makes you laugh your butt off. This was such a fun book to read. I also loved all the little things she added like the tv and movie comments. Love this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Happy Singles Day is a cute rom-com/hallmark movie of a book.
Professional organizer, Paige, decides to celebrate singles appreciation day by going on a week long vacation by herself. Upon arriving at the B&B, she finds herself in an unexpected situation. The inn was not as described. The owner is gruff and rude, and due to a storm, she is stuck on the island and is not able to leave. The majority of the book is a slow burn of the two main characters having misunderstandings, getting to know one another, and a random dog rescue.
Overall, this book was just ok for me. A cute read, not too steamy, but nothing that makes this a real stand out. Quick, light, and has a happy ending.

This was a DNF for me. I found Lucas to be extremely unlikeable and sexism was kind of rampant. I lost count of the number of times the main character was described as some variation of tight ass. Just not my cup of tea, which is unfortunate because it had a sort of Hallmark vibe that I would have normally enjoyed.

This book was super cute! I liked the plot, as it’s not a super common trope for romances. The chemistry between the characters was sweet and funny, the conversations were witty and cute, and it made for a pretty easy, light read!

From the beginning of this book I knew what would happen, but that didn’t make the story or the reading experience any less mesmerizing.

To be honest, the beginning of this one had a bit of a slow start, and I found myself not even really liking the main character (Paige) until she meets the male protagonist (Lucas). Not only did I not care for her until that point, but I also had no idea what she looked like – not until the narration flipped and Lucas was left describing her. Because of this, it took awhile to gain an image in my head of these two people, but the way they interacted made me smile and I was rooting for them the entire way.

If you are looking for a quick, entertaining romantic story, this is a perfect fit! Happy Singles Day was a dose of joy for me. The story line easily hooks the reader from the start and the romance is closed door, fade-to-black, but with steamy intent. It has a little bit of everything I enjoy - small towns, picturesque locations, puppies!, children, swoon-worthy romance, and hope for a better future.

Single father Lucas Croft and his 4 year old daughter Maddie live in North Carolina, on Aurelia Island, where Lucas once ran the Copper Lantern Inn bed & breakfast with his late wife, Jenny. Jenny has been gone for 2 years and Lucas hasn't kept the bed & breakfast in the best shape, not has he had any guests staying there since Jenny died. He enjoys the time he has with his daughter, and isn't interested in dating, despite his well-meaning sister Sophie's encouragement.

Paige Parker lives and thrives in the hustle and bustle of Chicago, where she is a certified professional organizer with her own business, Chaos Control. After discovering her fiance in bed with her boss, Paige quit her previous job and swiftly become both single and cynical about love and romance. Paige's best friend Sammy, who is also her assistant, encourages her to take a vacation and recharge her batteries, reminding her that she works too much and needs a break. Begrudgingly, Paige agrees to a one-week vacation and she finds the perfect small beach town with an idyllic bed and breakfast. Paige really doesn't care that it's February and looks forward to enjoying the beach in peace and quiet. When she arrives on Aurelia Island, she is a bit shocked to discover that there are no cars on-island and that the bed & breakfast isn't really what she signed up for at all. Turns out she is the only guest, and the broody owner makes it clear from the onset that he doesn't want her there and had no idea that Sophie allowed a booking. Paige decides to leave, but the nor'easter storm prevents that for a few days at least. She decides to make the best of the situation. After all, she wanted a break from her busy life in Chicago, and that is what she'll get.

Little does Paige know that who and what she finds on Aurelia Island may just change her mind about being single after all.

This book was the perfect escapist novel for right now. I literally read it in a day in front of the fire. More a romance than rom com, it was entirely predictable in a perfect way. Definitely a good cozy book for a cold winter day.

Very cute, easy to read rom com. I enjoyed the characters and the situations. The dialogue was witty and I enjoyed the back-and-forth between Paige and Lucas.

I'm a sucker for a good Hallmark movie. This book read "Hallmark" all over it. It was a simple, sweet story of an unsuspecting couple that falls in love.

I was hoping for more details and a little more to the story line. There was no big "misunderstanding" or climax in the book, she just left when her vacation was over. That was a little disappointing. I expect more from books I read than from movies I watch.

Yes it was an adorable story. Yes I read it in 1 weekend. Yes, I say read it! But don't get your hopes up too high.

First, I have to thank SourcebookCasaBlanca and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I can't even begin to say how much I enjoyed this book, it was a really quick read and a very enjoyable light read. I read this book as a buddy read with a book club I belong to, and I was very excited to have others to talk to about the ARCs I'm reading.

Happy Singles Day was a book such a good book, I lost two nights of sleep while reading it. I enjoyed how light it was to read. Paige and Lucas have slight enemies lovers relationship at the beginning of the book but quickly came to find that they were just what they did not know they were looking for.

Give me a book with enemies to loves, get bickering, a single father, and some rescue puppies and I am a sucker for it.

Happy Singles Day is a great read and I can't wait for it to be out to share with friends!

This book was….not it for me. It’s marketed as an opposite attraction and I see the opposite thing. I just couldn’t see the attraction because it was none-existent. Their relationship was very underdeveloped in my opinion and I found myself not really invested in whether they got together or not, which made the last chapter very unrealistic for me.

Everything about the characters was also very surface level, they didn’t feel real enough for me to sympathize with them or feel connected to them, we get told a lot of things but we never see any of it. For example we get told multiple times how Paige is this badass business woman and we see none of it??

Lucas on the other hand is the biggest asshole on the planet. I just wanted to punch him in the face every time he opened his mouth. Being stuck on his head was not a fun time either. In his defense he gets much better in the second half of the book but some things just didn’t change and simply couldn’t like him.

He calls Paige uptight A LOT, along with that she wants everything to go her way and i’m not saying these are bad qualities but all these are an first impression from when she first came to the place she rented and found it nothing like was advertised which is a nice way of saying a dump plus facing a rude as fuck host??? so i think anyone would be upset?? why is he acting like her being ”uptight” is the reason for her being upset the first few days and not the fact that he was being a piece of unprofessional shit?? Another time he thought she was uptight was when she wanted to take a shower before changing into new clean clothes and ???? someone fucking tell me how is that being uptight????

Him categorizing tidiness as a woman's thing annoyed the fuck out of me. Yes okay we get it you're a caveman who has a messy house and you leave the toilet seat up, it doesn't make you special buddy.

One time he was fixing a broken front step and he said he couldn’t paint it to match the others until summer and he thought about how much Paige would hate it because and I quote ”her matchy-matchy OCD”. This is not something I would've expected to read in a 2021 romance. I mean I thought we were past the thing where people would call tidiness OCD but guess not but anyway i'm not here for it.

The first half of the book also has some sexist remarks that annoyed me so much. So basically the best parts about the book were the puppies and Lucas’s daughter, Maddie.

thanks to netgalley for approving me for the arc!

This book was funny and sweet. It was a perfect read for the end of 2020. Such a refreshing, fun book. Plus, I adore the enemies to lover trope! This was my first book with this author and definitely won’t be the last. The heroine Paige needs a singles vacation and meets the sexy and grumpy innkeeper. Of course, they get off on the wrong foot. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a light, fun read. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Oooooh man am I a sucker for slow-burn romances that take place in quaint bed and breakfasts! I was ecstatic when I got approved by this book on NetGalley (so many thanks to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!) This is a slow-burn (love it) story of two people hurt by love. Sweet, hopeful, it has all the Hallmark vibes!

Paige is a Certified Professional Organizer, Lucas is a single-father and owner of a simple and quiet bed and breakfast. Neither is ready for the other, and yet fate brings them together, and a rivalry turned romance ensues. If enemies to lovers is your trope, this is also the book for you!

The only issue I took with this book was that, for all the sexual tension between Paige and Lucas, we never really see much resolution, which was a little surprising. If you're a fan of Mariana Zapata though (as I am), then this is definitely your kind of romance!

There's also a fine line to be walked in enemies-to-lovers and slow-burn romances, and Lucas was a little too grouchy and mean at times, to a point that it was a bit uncomfortable. However, he was a grieving widower, and the pain and attitude is slightly understandable.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book, and I will certainly be reading more from this author in the future!
