OCD, overworked and single Paige is forced into a vacation in the Outer Banks at a beautiful B & B. But when she arrives she finds a ramshackle house with a reluctant host, Lucas, a widower raising his daughter has let the B & B slide since his wife’s death. Sparks fly but they live in different parts of the world. Paige’s mother had given up everything to follow her husband and has regretted it. Paige just doesn’t want to end up like her mother so there is no future for them.
I just wasn’t able to empathize with the characters. Fiction is a suspension of disbelief but I still wasn’t able to make sense out of the fact that Lucas was able to pack up and move to Chicago with his daughter after so little communication with Paige. The plot also didn’t engage me. I would not recommend this book to my patrons.

A sweet slow burn story. Paige is a workaholic. Focused on nothing but work. When forced to take a vacation, she ends up at an in. run by Lucas. He is in a weird place since his wife died. Raising his daughter, he is focused on her and nothing else.
This story was sweet. Hallmark movie special. I can see this made into a movie for Hallmark. Especially with the puppies!

Happy Singles Day is a charming story. Lucas is a widower and father to a 4-year-old daughter, and he's barely keeping his head above water. With bills coming due, his sister steps in and rents a room in his bed and breakfast. Without telling him. Paige has dedicated her life to cleaning up other people's messes, quite literally, she's a certified professional organizer. Pushed out the door by her assistant on a forced vacation Paige finds herself stranded on an island with a less than welcoming host in a bed and breakfast that's not exactly as advertised.
This is a very Hallmark-esque story. While Lucas is a widower his grief isn't really a big part of the story, neither is Paige's ex-fiance's infidelity, it is all very low drama despite the tragic backstories. Every time there was a setup for big drama, there wasn't, which I found a little disappointing I was hoping it would make my heart hurt a little bit. I thought that there was some good chemistry in the beginning, but towards the end, it started to lose me a little. It's well written and has really good characters that are relatable. If you're looking for a seriously low drama, fluffy book, with puppies and cute kid, this is definitely for you.

Thankfully, the Happy Singles Day aspect of the book is overall very small. This really is a book about moving on. It’s nothing earth-shattering or heart-wrenching, but there’s chemistry and puppies and organized spice jars. I found myself more charmed as it went on. I was provided with an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing team for sharing this ARC with me.
The idea of the book was cute but it wasn't a huge page-turner for me. I think the two lacked chemistry; Lucus was too much of a jerk in the beginning.
I liked Lucus, Maddie, and Sohpia and I liked Paige separately. This wasn't really a romantic comedy as it was a Hallmark movie. The pacing was a little too slow for me and there were weird jumps in the epilogue that was confusing. Overall, it was an okay read.

Big thanks to Netgalley for the ARC! Happy Single’s Day was a cute but quick read, that is laugh out loud funny. Chock full of innuendos and snarky chemistry, HSD is the perfect romcom.

This was a very cute romantic comedy.
Paige is taking her first vacation in years. All it took to convince her was a persistent assistant, a bit of competitiveness, finding out about Single's Day, and a quiz telling her her perfect vacation. But when she arrives at the inn, nothing is as described. And the owner is surly (even if he does look like Ryan Reynolds). A Nor'Easter traps her and the sexual tension gets thick enough to cut with a knife.
I enjoyed this quite a bit, but I am more of a slow burn fan than an "it takes a week to fall in love" fan. Everything happened extremely quickly (especially given their personal histories). But if you're just looking for a cute, feel good book this fits the bill.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an eARC of this book.

A sweetheart of a story and the perfect escape read! Has the obligatory HEA, a handsome hero, workaholic heroine and a litter of puppies just to make the sweetness complete! When you need a break from reality this is the book you need to read. Just wish there would be a 2nd installment with Sophie’s story-and maybe even Sammy’s too!

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was hardly the romantic comedy the summary advertised it would be. Just a lot of sexual innuendoes and sexual exploitation on both parties . Not what I was expecting.

I was looking forward to this book but it just couldn't hold my attention. DNF at 42% the book moved to slow.

I loved this book! It was such a fun read, once i started it I could not put it down. I love the characters and the humor. I highly recommend this to everyone who likes romance. 10/10

Happy Singles Day is... different.
A totally different picture from what I expected but definitely fun to read. Ann Marie Walker managed to create a mix of humor, romance and family. It's amazing to see that family means everything to the major characters. We've also got an old love and the new flame. Some healing and time to move on. It doesn't hurt that the couple are dog lovers.
It did seem a little too predictable at some point and suspense was limited. I also did not appreciate the attitude that Lucas gave and I'm not sure if I would endorse him for a potential lover.
A sweet romance

This is a quick read and it is a great book if you need some escapism. It is what you might expect from a romcom.
Thanks to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for the ARC.

Happy Singles Day is a very fun and quick read. It gives you exactly what you expect from this style of book and leaves you feeling good inside!

Thank you to Edelweiss, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute romcom and great escapism
I would recommend if you're looking for:
-a grumpy hero
-an independent heroine
-single father
-a meddling younger sister
-vacation romance
-elements of enemies to lovers
-close proximity
I found this book really funny and a true romcom. However, the stakes in the books never seemed to get grounded. The conflict was mentioned briefly, and never really addressed.
This was a bit more instalove than I was expecting. The writing was also steamy, the sexual tension great. But I was not expecting it to ultimately be closed door. I really enjoyed the single parent aspect and the escapism. Overall a solid romcom.
This is a great quick rom com read.

The cover of Happy Singles Day screams cuteness - handsome guy, energetic girl, and an adorable puppy right in the middle. While this book does have its cute moments, there are some heavier topics included as well. Lucas is a widower and single dad. Paige is a professional organizer who is closing herself off from the idea of love and marriage due to a past bad relationship. It was a fast easy read. I enjoyed it even though I prefer a little more development of the romance. Due to the timeline of the story, the romance progressed rather quickly for the complex feelings that needed to be worked through, especially on Lucas part. Overall, it was a nice cozy romance that I would recommend for friends to enjoy on a cold winter day in front of a nice warm fire.
My sincere Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Happy Singles Day and give my unbiased opinion of the book.

A fun, sweet romance with an emotional edge, Happy Single's Day is a quick but enjoyable read. The characters are relatable and I loved reading about Paige and Lucas as they navigated their relationship!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was everything you’d expect it to be and more.
It’s full of quirky characters, complex trauma on Lucas’ side, whitty banter, angst, and of course LOVE.
Paige is my type of women, type A all the way. And everything is going great.. until it isn’t.
Lucas’ life is a bit more hectic with his 5 year old daughter and he likes it that way. No need for a woman.. until there is.
Needless to say, I loved it. Super cute, pulls your heart strings.

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker is a breezy contemporary romance. This was my first time reading Ann Marie Walker and while I don't think we're a match, I can definitely see many romance readers enjoying her writing style and this novel. There are many romance tropes for readers to enjoy - vacation romance, grumpy hero, opposites attract, forced proximity and even a bit of enemies-to-lovers.
Happy Singles Day follows professional organizer Paige as she sets out to celebrate Singles Day (aka Single Awareness Day on February 15) by going on a vacation for the first time in forever. After finding out her fiance was cheating on her with her boss/best friend, Paige decides to throw everything she has into building a career for herself as a professional organizer and running her own successful company. With work taking up most of her time, her personal life has fallen to the backburner and it's not until she meets the surly bed-and-breakfast owner of her vacation spot that she's ready to put herself out their again. Unlike Paige, Lucas has avoiding work for the past two years after losing the love of his life and mother of his daughter - running the B&B without her just didn't seem right. But his meddling sister reactivates the booking to help him earn some much needed money before he loses the place for good and in walks Paige. He's not looking for a relationship but Paige certainly stirs up feelings he used to think were better left alone. Could this vacation fling between these two opposites turn into something more permanent?
Thank you to NetGalley, SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and the author for granting my wish to read this digital ARC.

When Paige decides to take a much needed vacation she stumbles on a bed and breakfast on an island in North Carolina that is offering a Singles Day special. Paige, on an impulse, books a week there. Lucas has not offered his home as a bed and breakfast since his wife died so when his sister tells him she has booked a room he is not happy. Needless to say when Paige and Lucas meet it is not what either of them planned and Paige decides she isn't staying. A northeaster prevents her from leaving and Paige and Lucas are forced to inhabit the bed and breakfast together. A story of unexpected twists in life and what happens when you take a chance.
