This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!

Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

A charming, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance featuring Lucas - a single dad, widower and run-down B&B owner - and Paige - the owner of an Professional organization company and a confirmed singleton, taking her first vacation in three years. Lots of great chemistry and a fun, entertaining story set on a remote coastal island during the off-season. Definitely recommend for your summer reading plans.

Happy Singles Day was not much of a follow-up to the title. This was definitely a Hallmark feel good story and finding yourself. This was a slow burn romance, heartfelt, feel good story. Two broken souls come together in the most unexpected way. Paige is a professional organizer giving her all to her business and never taking any time for her. One day she comes a across a listing to stay in a small island with no vehicles, duped by the pictures online, when she arrives she realizes the place has not been loved in a long time. Lucas is the hot rude hero we didn’t know we wanted at this point, but let me tell you by the end I forgave him for serving her a granola bar for breakfast. This was a sweet story with minimal steam, but entertaining. This is definitely a vacation read.

I know they say don't judge a book by its cover, but between the bright happy cover, and the hopeful description, I was so excited to read Happy Singles Day, expecting an uplifting story with an enviable romance between two people as single as myself.

What I experienced was a slow-burn situationship based on lust between two otherwise fairly miserable people. Besides Paige's obsession with how hot he is, and when his bulges are hard, and Lucas' constant thoughts about her body and what she could do to him in the sack, the writing doesn't give you much developed emotional chemistry between the two and for at least half the book, if not longer, you might struggle to care if they get together, let alone finish the book. They also hold a lot of criticism towards one another, especially with Lucas, for example, considering her uptight and OCD for being a clean and tidy person, something he considers to be a woman's thing. (Meanwhile his bed and breakfast is an absolute dump, right down to peanut butter smudges on the banister.

On the upside, there were some pleasant parts including the adorable presence of Lucas' daughter, who admittedly seemed older than her written age, and a puppy rescue attempt from a storm drain.

If you struggle with HSD as well, a lot of the plot is shoved into the last chapters/epilogue. Don't feel guilty about DNFing, or skipping to them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"Couples Have Valentine’s Day, Single People Have SAD"
"Singles Appreciation Day"

4.5 stars

asking for this arc was one of the best things I did!
I really loved this book and the characters!<3

Paige: she's only interested in her job and working 24/7 until she realized that she better celebrate Singles Day going on a trip because WHY NOT? she definitely deserves it! so to the inn and the small island she GOES!
Lucas: grumpy single dad who thinks that he doesn't need to change anything in his inn or life because it's his life and he can do whatever the hell he wants. All of that until he's met with the unexpected REALLY ORGNAIZED guest!
Maddie and Sophie: honestly they had the best niece-auntie relationship, but also be careful because they will embarrass you!

I took that half star because some lines from both main mcs were a little bit sexist in my opinion. but overall it was a really enjoyable read and the small island vibes were EVERYTHING<3

This book was a DNF for me. I found the hero to be misogynistic and extremely unlikable. His attitude towards the heroine was flat-out gross and even worse, he has a daughter.

Single and proud of it! Oh, oops...

As a Certified Professional Organizer, everything in Paige Parker's world is as it should be. Perfect apartment, perfect office, perfect life. And now, the perfect vacation planned to honor Singles Day. After all, what's better than celebrating her pride in being single? Because who needs a man anyway? They have zero taste in quality television, leave the toilet seat up, and sleep with your best friend. No thanks. Her life is fine just the way it is.

As the owner of a now-dormant bed & breakfast, Lucas Croft's life is simple and quiet. It's only him and his five-year-old daughter, which is just the way he likes it. Because who needs a woman anyway? They nag you to clean up your stuff, want the toilet seat put down, and expect the dishes to be done the same day the meal is cooked. No thanks. His life is fine just the way it is.

But when Paige books a room that Lucas' well-intentioned sister listed without his knowledge, their two worlds collide. If they can survive the week together, they just might discover exactly what they've both been missing.

I really loved this! It was fun and funny and the chemistry between Paige and Lucas was very believable and fun to experience. I didn't want to put it down. I also liked that it dealt with some tough topics like grief. It was such a fun read.

The one thing that caused me to knock off a star is that throughout the entire book, there was such sexual tension, on both sides. Lots of talk of the tension, lots of thoughts that we get to see from both of them. Then, when it was time to finally do the deed.....it fades to black. SERIOUSLY??? All this build up and sexual thoughts and words and then when the sex actually happens, we get nothing? I was disappointed and it didn't make a ton of sense. Why give us all the foreplay and none of the action?

Sometimes a good rom-com is just what you need. And this book was what I needed. Do I think people can fall in love in a week? No. But that doesn't make this book any less fun and sweet.

I could absolutely picture this being a movie and I hope it does become one! I loved Paige because I am a lot like her with the organizing and the dislike of clutter.

This was just a quick fun, somewhat sad,  rom-com book. If you're looking for a book to escape in then this is a good book for that. A great beach read!

This novel was definitely not for me. I recently read another novel with a similar plotline of a romance where the characters meet at a bed and breakfast (Act You Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert) and that one was executed much better. I didn’t really feel as if I liked either of the characters in this novel - I felt empathetic toward their own lieu of issues, but did not connect to either character on any level. I felt as if this romance was a bit forced and I couldn’t really see where or why they even got together. Finally, I have such an issue with novels that make being in a relationship resolve all of the issues within someone’s life because that is such an unhealthy message.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the gifted e-book in exchange for an honest opinion!

Proudly single Paige Parker has it all. A burgeoning career as a professional organizer, a wonderful assistant, and a fantastic cat named Mr. Rochester. When she learns about Singles Appreciation Day, she decides to book a vacation (because when was the last time she took one of those?), and sets off for North Carolina for week of rest and relaxation. Unbeknownst to her, the beautiful little B&B she chose has fallen into a state of disrepair, and the innkeeper, albeit handsome, is surly enough to send her packing. When a nor'easter comes through that leaves her stranded, she has no choice but to weather the storm. As the week progresses, Paige and Lucas learn that their first impressions may have been wrong, opening themselves up to the possibility of love.

"Seems to me that you don't need all of your stuff perfectly organized. What you need is one special person to share the mess of life with."

Like other reviewers, I truly struggled with the way Lucas treated Paige at the beginning of the book. While I understand that his sister reinstated the listing without consulting with him, he shouldn't have taken out his frustration on Paige. Because of this, the romance fell a bit flat for me. I did feel that the latter half of the book offered some redemption, though, and I loved the supporting characters. Furthermore, the dog rescue warmed my heart. HAPPY SINGLES DAY would have been a DNF had it not been a NetGalley copy (I started it in December, stopped, and just came back to it on audio), but I can truly say that I'm glad that I finished it. Overall, it was a solid three star read. Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I liked the idea behind this book but I just couldn't get into it. Both MC irked me. Mostly the male. I only read to chapter five but couldn't get over how immature he was being. Yes he didn't willingly reopen his doors, but he didn't cancel the booking either. Yet he's a complete tool and disgusting to boot. No thanks.

Forced proximity is one of my favorite romantic comedy genres and Ann Marie Walker does a wonderful job in that theme with Happy Singles Day. Both characters are so loveable and relatable that you are immediately rooting for them to get together, by their own choice this time, and develop a deeper relationship. I also completely adored Lucas's relationship with his five year old daughter and thought she added so much to the storyline. Overall, this was a sweet book I would recommend to others.

Ryan Reynolds doppelgänger, single dad, and puppies! Count me in! Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much. As soon I started, I knew it was going to be a five star read for me. I did not want to put it down!

This was such a sweet and fun forced proximity romance. There was also second chances and grief in this story. Paige and Lucas have come together after both experiencing some type of loss. I loved all the characters in this book, especially Lucas’ daughter, Maddie. Oh and there’s a bookstore located in a fire station! Seriously, this was such a fun read. This was a closed door romance. I highly recommend checking this book out, if you haven’t already!

This is my first Ann Marie Walker book. I didn't overly love the characters and thought it was all very predictable and cliché. That being said, if you are looking for a quick romance that isn't graphic this is it! In today's world we could all use a little happy ending :-)

I hate listened to this - I’m not even going to bother summarizing this because you need to skip it. HARD PASS. Like the guy (I can’t remember his name) was TERRIBLE to the girl (I can’t remember her name either) when she got to the “inn.” Actually, he was terrible to her for most of the book until he decides he is going to sleep with her even though they’ve never even kissed. I also hated how he’s a single dad but the kid is gone for most of the book - like why make him a dad? I also felt like the guy was made out to be someone who is mourning the love of his life, but the girl was jilted by her fiancé. I hate this trope. It was just stupid. There are way better books to read than this

Thanks to @NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my ARC!

I requested the book because I loved the cover and the premise. I wanted to love the book as well. But no, I did not.

Paige is a successful businesswoman who is married to her work. Plus, she is nursing a broken heart after a recent breakup. So, she goes on a holiday to a B&B, the host of which is a surly widowed father. Paige is not pleased when she sees that the photos were misleading and the B&B isn't as it was advertised.

Anyway, after a lot (and I mean, really a whole lot) of misunderstandings and miscommunications (or no communication), it is HEA. I couldn't really see the chemistry between the lead pair. And there were a lot of sexist ideas thrown in.

2 stars. 1 for the cover and 1 for the puppies.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Cute and easy read about a woman who takes a vacation at an inn (that turns out is no longer in business) for singles day. The inn owner happens to be a Ryan gosling look a like and the sparks fly!

His daughter was adorable! This is closed door romance so if you are looking for more steam this may not be for you.

It was just an okay read for me. It had it’s sweet moments, but there was a lot lacking between the two main characters for me to connect to them and believe their love story.

If you want something a quick, sweet and low on the drama romance this book might be for you.

DNF’d at 30%. Waaaay to many underhanded and misogynistic comments by the male MC. Yikes. Not for me.
