What I expected was a cute Hallmark-esque slow burn novel with a ton of heart, hope, and cheer. I adored the heroine in this novel she was the perfect amount of strong, tough, lovely, quiet, and compassionate that I hope for in other characters in books I read.

With that said, I felt like the romance between the two was... lack-luster at best. I think the relationship had potential but was severely underdeveloped. I also couldn’t review this book without mentioning the way Lucas sort of undermined and thought some very sexist things about Paige as a woman a few times (mentioned that “tidying up was something women cared about” and he mentioned Paige’s OCD as if it was a bad thing. A decent book that I did enjoy, but it left me wanting more.

Really loved this book - was so cute and definitely made you feel good. Was in love with the characters and I truly could not put the book down. A huge hit and perfect to read with summer approaching!

This book was such a fun surprise. I love Paige and Lucas. They are very relatable in their personalities as well as their struggles. Even though Paige meets Lucas on her vacation and they are both overcoming difficult times in their lives, the book never feels gloomy and they way they solve their ultimate differences is the most romantic part of the book. It was a very fun read and I would definitely read more from this author.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute story, but wasn’t really for me. I think I was expecting something different. I’m sorry but I did not finish this one.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Holy cow, I loved this book! Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC copy of this delightful read!

This one checks a lot of boxes that I love:

forced proximity – Lucas has no idea Paige is coming, and Paige has no idea the inn she reserved is rundown and managed by a grumpy widower
alternating POVs – I liked both equally
weather that causes some additional forced proximity – why do I love when this happens? What does that say about me? I love a good storm that forces people to stay in inside together!
enemies to lovers, in the sense that neither MC likes one another when they met
two broken hearted individuals trying to put themselves back together
vacation romance
small town element
puppies & a lot of TMNT references
It’s also very funny, and I found myself laughing out loud often. It’s a quick-paced read that I finished in one night because I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a slow burn romcom with a ton of depth, and I loved it!

Oh my this book was SO darn cute. I turned the last page with happy tears in my eyes. Such a sweet story, with characters you love instantly. It was predictable in a Hallmark movie sort of way and I didn’t even mind that one bit.

This is a closed door romance, so if steamy books aren’t your thing, but you still love a romantic story - make sure to check this one out!!

*Spoilers Ahead*
A cute and quick romance about a woman that goes on vacation to elaborate being single and a romance blooms between her and the owner of the inn she stays at.

3 stars: It was enjoyable in the moment but not something I would be rereading or remember much about later. There were a few comments and actions of the male character that I wasn't a fan of, his daughter was always conveniently elsewhere, and why include an organizer but little organizing?

I'd like to thank the publisher via NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book struck me as a typical romance with all the boxes ticked. Paige, career woman who is a workaholic and has sworn off love decides on a vacation for some alone time. But oh, the inkeeper at the B&B where she is staying is a sexy single carpenter! Lingering glances from both make them suspect the other is into them, but they both have baggage and she is only there for a week. Will love endure and blossom to a happy ending? You'll have to read to find out, but I'm pretty sure you know the answer.

This was none too exciting typical cute romance. Nothing special stood out to me.

I really enjoyed this, it was a quick read with likeable characters and I won’t ever say no to a book with dogs. Overall I enjoyed the humour and character growth.

2.5 stars rounded up. The cover is what first caught my eye and the synopsis sounded interesting so I was really looking forward to reading it! This was an easy-to-read romance that had some funny and silly moments but ultimately it's not a romance that stands out for me and is somewhat forgettable. Also, if you're not into reading steamy scenes, you're in the clear for this one as it's very light on the steaminess with fade-to-black scenes.

Hope and Lucas weren't awful characters but there wasn't anything particularly memorable about either of them, and neither do we get to know them beyond a very surface level. Hope was a sweet heroine who became a workaholic after being hurt by love in the past and decided that she won't make time for it in her future. She's a professional organiser and has her own company that allows her to pretty much be like Marie Kondo. I really liked her "bff" and assistant, Sammy, and reading their banter was probably the most fun I had in the book. I really wish we saw more of him!

Lucas definitely started off on the wrong foot and was honestly a right knob. Of course, I understand why he's 'grumpy' but at the same time his judgements were so unnecessarily rude and because of what? All Hope did was breathe and he lost his cool and went off on some pretty patronising and misogynistic rants that definitely didn't work to endear him to readers. It doesn't take very long for him to shed that rudeness but I felt that his change in attitude came about very suddenly, and (imho), happened mostly due to his sexual attraction to Hope. Again, we don't learn very much about their characters or go into greater depth exploring their pasts or understanding makes them tick other than what we learn of their surface.

The story itself takes place over a week so to say their romance happens quickly isn't an understatement and while I normally hate insta-"love" I initially felt that it didn't progress very unrealistically. People have sexual chemistry, bonds grow in close quarters over short periods of time--it happens, right? But then that ending happened (even before the epilogue) and blew that thought of the water 😂 It just made the romance unrealistic because I don't think their chemistry was *that* great. I also felt that the epilogue was entirely unnecessary and also confusing in parts because I didn't get the timeline. Overall, if you're looking for a very light and quick read that doesn't take much thought to get through (say, a palate cleanser), this could be the book for you. Sadly, it wasn't really for me!

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker was a fun, quick read. Perfect for lovers of romance and women's fiction. I love how the author balanced a good romance with the personal growth and development of both Paige and Lucas. And there's PUPPIES in this book! Really all you need!

Happy Singles Day
By Ann Marie Walker

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker is such a charming and adorable read I enjoyed so much. The story is totally romantic, lighthearted with two amazing characters with amazing chemistry and a swooners delight.

Set in beautiful Aurelia Island where these two main characters meet and fall in love. They both needed each other and I just love the way they meet and how their romance grows. Paige Parker is a workaholic and a certified professional organizer whose love life is left a mess by a cheating ex. Lucas Croft reeling from grief and struggling to move on with his 5 year old child with an unexpected loss. Unbeknownst to him, his sister lists his bed and breakfast bringing it back to life unexpectedly.

I love how endearing each of the characters are and despite the seriousness of their situation, the writing remained light hearted and sweet. I absolutely enjoyed the new beginnings these two MC needed to find healing and start anew. This story was definitely romantic and delightful and the perfect read to squeeze in for February. I absolutely loved this one.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a copy. All opinions are my own.

Super cute for the most part, but got annoyed as our character was extrememly set in the mind set of how she "wasn't like other girls," as well as the constant pop culture references.

I love the cover of this book! It had the potential to be a great rom-com. I found it really hard to relate to the MCs and ended up DNFing because I just couldn't get into it.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC

This book was SO much fun, heartwarming, and heartbreaking at times. I love a romance novel that portrays its main characters with all their faults and failures and still lets them find love anyway -- not because that love completes them, but because it complements them. That was my favorite thing about this book!

This is a cute (and at times steamy) romance novel. It is exactly what you'd expect this kind of book to be, so if that's what you're on the hunt for I'd definitely recommend it. It was at times predictable, but that's sometimes the beauty of these types of books, you go in knowing what kind of story it's going to be but you still enjoy seeing it unfold nonetheless.

At first, I didn't want to root for Lucas. His harsh personality was understandable given what he has faced most recently in his life but towards the end, I found myself hoping Paige and Lucas would figure out a way to work it out. One of the tropes in the romance genre is for the male character's to be harsh and mean and if the woman only gives it some time she can break through the tough exterior, he'll soften and they'll fall in love. I think it's a little too much, especially for someone in Lucas's business situation.

Happy Singles Day has a solid foundation for a touching rom-com read. Attractive male widow who hasn’t had the heart to maintain the inn he owned with his late wife meets structured woman who has a plan for everything. I was certain that I’d spend some happy hours reading cover to cover.

As it turned out, I couldn’t attach to either character, or the story line. That itself didn’t deter me, because I had faith it would develop into a great story. I’m sorry that it did not.

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker was an entertaining and somewhat predictable story. The constant sexual references were distracting and unnecessary for a cute romantic book. Had the sexual references not been so numerous and in your face , I would have rated this four stars.
