This is the story of fiercely independent Paige and widowed single father Lucas. Paige spends every moment of her life running her business, but takes a spur of the moment vacation, at the urging of her assistant and best friend, to celebrate Singles Awareness Day. Imagine her surprise when she arrives at a dilapidated inn with a grumpy innkeeper. This is a cute story. It has hints of enemies-to-lovers. I liked Paige and Lucas and the quaint island setting. Lucas’ precocious daughter Maddie is also a delight.

Paige Parker has her life together well for the most part she does. The only thing lacking is her love life. She has come to the conclusion that she doesn’t need a man. She can celebrate her life without one. So she packs up and head to a cute Bed & Breakfast in North Carolina. The only thing is that the place doesn’t fit her orderly life.
Lucas Croft is angry to discover that his sister has rented out the B&B for a week to a city woman while he is trying to figure out his next moves in life. Yes, the woman in question is beautiful but she doesn’t fit in his life. To say that they don’t hit it off, is an understatement.
Paige arrives at the B&B to see that it is a dump. The owner is rude and he has a sweet little girl who still can’t help to save this place. She wants no parts of this and quickly look to leave but a pending storm leaves her stranded so Paige may have to put her organization skills to work on her vacation.
This book has everyHallmark cliché. I find it interesting that Paige would not have done more research on this place since her career is about organization. Also, that she would not have looked at the weather forecast. The two hate each other but they are dodging each other for the same reasons.
Lucas is not the most pleasant hero in Romancelandia. He says some of the most sexist comments. I understand that he lost his wife and he is struggling to take care of his daughter but he is rude the entire book. How can I buy that they are falling in love if he is a jerk?
There is not one single sexy scene. Not only did I struggle to continue to read the book but I had didn’t get any loving at all. I felt so disappointed in this story.

Do you love rom-coms?
Are you a fan of 90's pop culture references?
Is enemies to lovers & single parent your trope?
Then you have to pick up and read this book. I was hooked on reading this from the first few pages. I'm all about a good rom com and this one checked off so many of my boxes. The story flowed at a perfect pace and it just had me not wanting to put the book down. As far as I know this is a standalone but it could easily be picked up from where it was left off. I would love to read more of Paige and Lucas story and how it grows.
As a Certified Professional Organizer, everything in Paige Parker's world is as it should be. Perfect apartment, perfect office, perfect life. And now, the perfect vacation planned to honor Singles Day. After all, what's better than celebrating her pride in being single? Because who needs a man anyway? They have zero taste in quality television, leave the toilet seat up, and sleep with your best friend. No thanks. Her life is fine just the way it is.
As the owner of a now-dormant bed & breakfast, Lucas Croft's life is simple and quiet. It's only him and his five-year-old daughter, which is just the way he likes it. Because who needs a woman anyway? They nag you to clean up your stuff, want the toilet seat put down, and expect the dishes to be done the same day the meal is cooked. No thanks. His life is fine just the way it is.
But when Paige books a room that Lucas' well-intentioned sister listed without his knowledge, their two worlds collide. If they can survive the week together, they just might discover exactly what they've both been missing.

Happy Singles Day is just the book to read if you need something funny, light-hearted and full of romance. I would recommend this book to someone who was in a reading slump!
I enjoyed the plot, and the narrative this was written in. Loved the characters and how quick it was to read!

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker is a cute enjoyable romantic comedy, and my first book by this author. Paige Parker is a certified professional organizer who has been working too hard, so she books a vacation to celebrate singles day. Lucas is the owner of a B&B, who hasn't had a booking since his wife died. Lucas's sister takes it upon herself to book Paige vacation, so her brother can pay his taxes. Add in his adorable five year old daughter, and you have an funny heart warming story. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys rom/coms. I will be reading more books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker is a contemporary romance currently scheduled for release on January 19 2021. As a Certified Professional Organizer, everything in Paige Parker's world is as it should be. Perfect apartment, perfect office, perfect life. And now, the perfect vacation planned to honor Singles Day. After all, what's better than celebrating her pride in being single? Because who needs a man anyway? Happy Singles Day is a romance that clicks a good number of trope boxes. Single parent, cheated on heroine, animals, small town, stuck together because of a storm, and kind-of enemies to lovers. It is also a closed door, or fade to black romance, so if you prefer more intimate moments to be alluded to rather than spelled out- than aside from some making out and lusty thoughts, here you go. I liked Paige and Lucas as characters, they each have trauma to deal with and are doing the best they can, and I enjoyed watching them find compromise and happiness. Seeing the bad first impression fade while understanding, and attraction, start to take over was nice, and I enjoyed the ride, However, I have to admit that the secondary characters really were my favorite. I want more of Lucas's sister, some of the town residents, and frankly his daughter. I want to know more about Sophie and her bookstore (which I would love to see) more than I want to know about how Paige and Lucas balance things and move forward, but maybe that's just me. I really did enjoy it while I was reading it, it is only now when I look back that I realize that I want more of and for Sophie.
Happy Singles Day is a sweet romance that has all the feels.

This was a light and feel good read. The story was a cute romance of two heartbroken people. There was some gender stereotypes present that were disheartening to read though. Lucas was kinda sexist at times. The story though wasn’t all romance and there was lots of underlying emotions throughout. Mostly this was about finding love where you might not expect it.

The story was a cute, if not predictable, romance. The reader is introduced to a messy innkeeper and a type-a organizer. This was a happy and easy read. The characters were likeable and the story was enjoyable. Plot issues worked themselves out fast and there were fun bits through the story. Some of the plot was predictable, and there was an inordinate amount of focus on the female's "boobs". However, the assistant was enjoyable, the innkeepers plight was heartrending and invoked sympathy, and the story was tidy.

I enjoyed this fun romcom. Paige is in need of a vacation. She has her own professional organization company and is working way too hard so her assistant convinces her to take a holiday. Paige books herself into a B&B on a small island. Once she arrives it is nothing like it was advertised. The place is run down and messy and the owner, Lucas, is surly and grouchy. Paige has a hard time learning to relax and the man running the B&B makes her more uptight.. As with any good romance once Paige learns more about Lucas the more she likes him and vice versa. Lucas is a single dad to a very cute little girl who steals Paige’s heart. Lucas also steals her heart. This was a charming book and the characters were engaging and fun. I would definitely read more from this author.

Happy Singles Day was one of the cutest rom-coms I have ever read! It had everything that I could want in a story. The plot was perfect and the characters were adorable.
Paige and Lucas were the perfect opposite attract couple. I loved how rough Lucas appeared to be, but was the biggest softie with his daughter, Maddie. When he sang her the Elephant Song theme song I completely melted it. I wish he would have mentioned something about watching that show when he was a kid.
There were also many laugh out loud moments too throughout this book and I seriously loved every minute of it.
I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed!

I absolutely loved this book! The story is just so sweet and I was rooting for Paige and Lucas the entire way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a romance lover like me. There is organization, a Ryan Reynolds doppelgänger, and puppies!! ❤️

feel good, relatable and funny. this was a great and quick read that i enjoyed from beginning to end!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book.
This was another book that had some of my favorite elements: puppies (with adorable names!), a grumpy man with a good heart, his supportive sister, a cute kid, and a very strong heroine who had trouble setting boundaries between home and work. All those things meshed together to create a book I really enjoyed.
Thanks Ann Marie Walker for a fun book!

I have yet to be disappointed by a Sourcebooks Casablanca and Happy Singles Say is no exception. This book is perfect for every single person who needs just a bit of hope. I loved the storm, the side characters of Sammy and Sophie. I'm sincerely hoping that there is going to be a companion book for Sophie next. The only thing I would have loved more would have been at least one chapter from Maddie's perspective.

A romantic comedy where the male lead is compared to Ryan Reynolds? Sign me up!
This book was a quick read! I ended up finishing it in a 24-hour timeframe, which isn’t really like me at all. So sweet and super funny, Lucas and Paige were a great couple!
Paige, feeling a need to celebrate Singles Day, books a week in a North Carolina bed and breakfast...on an island...with no cars...and ends up stuck with a grumpy (and hot 🔥) host when a storm blows in and shuts down the ferry.
Lucas’s daughter, Maddie was a total scene-stealer and one of my favorite parts of the book! All the pop culture references really got me too...loved them!! This is a closed-door romance, but actually does have a little steam to it, which I liked.
The epilogue had me tearing up! So perfect! ❤️
4.5 stars rounded to 5!

Paige and Lucas were a fun couple, but it is the strength of the supporting characters that really make this novel shine. Walker has written a novel full of people you want to spend more time with and hate to see leave when the last page finishes.
3.5 stars

*sigh* This story was okay. It was funny and cute and was set in a quaint little beach town. I liked Paige. She felt real and flawed, stubborn and independent. I liked getting to know her, which is why I thought she could do better than Lucas.
Of course, Lucas was handsome, sexy and troubled. But he also came across as rude and cruel, at least to me. I didn't approved of the way he referred to women or the way he thought of Paige (even after he had developed feelings for her). But I put that aside and read on wondering if he would redeemed himself by the end of the book.
Sadly, that didn't happen, which it turned out wasn't a big deal because the romance didn't feel real to me. I could sense some of the connection Paige and Lucas shared but it wasn't a deep one, so it sort of got lost in with my dislike of Lucas. As for the chemistry and the romance itself, the romance was slow burn and fade to black while the chemistry alluded to in the story felt non-existent to me.
I wouldn't say this book was a total flop, it just wasn't the story for me.

Paige has always focused on her career but even more so after her engagement ended. The last thing she wants is to see others celebrating love and romance so after much convincing by her assistant she arranges a getaway. She believed that she planned her stay at the perfect place but when she arrives she is taken aback not only by where she is staying but the irate and grumpy owner as well.
After the death of his wife Lucas isn’t about to let any woman break through the walls he has built around his heart. Finding out that he has a guest he knew nothing about the sparks of antagonism fly as their lifestyles couldn’t be more different and neither is looking for love or a relationship, but they might just find out the best things in life happen when you least expect it.
This is a heartwarming story about two people who find out that even though they have given up on love that love hasn’t given up on them and their journey is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Happy Singles Day was the refreshing, heart-warming, and fun book I needed at the moment! Well-written with lively characters, I enjoyed this slow-burn romance set in a sleepy beach town during winter.
Paige, a professional organizer, needs a vacation. When she impulsively books a room for a week at a bed and breakfast, she has no idea that the beautiful rental property hasn't seen a paying customer in several years. The owner's sister secretly listed the room knowing her brother, Lucas, needed the money. Since his wife died two years ago, his heart hasn't been in the business they started together; his full attention has been on raising his five-year old daughter and making it through each day. But he reluctantly knows it's time to move forward.
When Paige arrives at the inn, she quickly realizes the pictures on the bed and breakfast's website aren't quite up to date. Not only is the vision she'd imagined of a relaxing vacation dissolving, she's greeted by a grumpy--although gorgeous--host who clearly doesn't want her there. But thanks to a drenching storm, she's stuck on the island for at least a few days.
In the beginning, I wasn't loving Lucas. His rude behavior was off-putting, but the author does a good job of explaining his abruptness, building it into his character and illustrating how he'd built walls around himself and his daughter in response to his grief. But by the end of the book, I was a Lucas fan.
Despite the fact that the bulk of the novel takes place during a single week, I was impressed with the author's ability to make this romance a slow-building one. I enjoyed the localized setting, the stormy weather, the small cast of characters, and the breathing room it created to sit back and let the story happen. And that ending! It could have easily become schmaltzy, but it had me glowing with joy.
This is a perfect cozy-by-the-fire-read to get lost in when you need something hopeful and happy. I would love to see this one become a series, as well. Now I need a book about Lucas' book-store owning sister!

I absolutely loved this book. It was a fun quick romance story and a great way to get lost in a book. I love the characters and the setting was just perfect. It made me want to jump into the book just so I could stay there. The story was a slow burn, sweet, heartfelt and feel good romance.
