Enjoy the View is the third book in the Moose Springs series by Sarah Morgenthaler. All of the books can be read as standalones or as part of the series. The first two books: The Tourist Attraction and Mistletoe and Mr. Right were five and four star reads for me, respectively. Enjoy the View continues on the themes of adventure, natural beauty in Alaska, and fun, G-rated romance. The first two books in the series made me want to pack my bags and move to (or at least visit) Alaska. Enjoy the View is no exception! Morgenthaler is an expert at vivid descriptions of Alaskan beauty and thrilling outdoors activities that are part of daily life for many in Alaska. Enjoy the View more than earns its title as a romantic comedy through the hijinx of the townspeople as they attempt to keep tourists out of Moose Springs! These books are a breath of fresh air and a much needed escape to a far away place! Enjoy the View did not disappoint at all and I look forward to reading more of Morgenthaler’s work!
Enjoy the View stars Easton, best friend to Graham from The Tourist Attraction, and River Lane, a Hollywood actress who is not quite sure where she belongs. River is almost 30- ancient by Hollywood standards- and looking to get behind the camera instead of trying to stay on screen. River has always been outdoorsy (you will never find her without her hiking boots or chalk!). When the opportunity to film a documentary in Alaska pops up, she knows it's something she can’t refuse. Unfortunately, the residents of Moose Springs are not going to be helpful. In fact, they are trying to block progress at all costs. River hires Easton to take her up Mt. Veil to get some usable footage for the documentary. What they don’t plan on? Treacherous conditions and falling in love. Both suspsseful and sweet, this book will have readers packing their bags to see if they can find an Alaskan guide of their own to fall for…

This is the perfect kind of romance I was looking for. Easton is a 'gentle giant,' and a gentlemen by all accounts. I swooned every time he said ma'am. River is a fearless, take no crap actress who wants to prove herself and work hard. Throw in some wilderness and a cast/crew of other strong personalities, and this is exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend.

I loved this story, it did not matter that I had not read the previous titles in the series. Sassy Hollywood star River Lane meets the imposing gentle giant Easton Lockett whilst filming a promotional video for the town of Moose Springs. Only problem is the Alaskan Tourist Board want the video but the townspeople themselves do not. Cue instant hostility. They decide the best way to keep River and her very small film crew out of the way is to send them up Mount Veil with Easton as their guide. This was a delightfully engaging love story with the added dimension of snow and climbing.

3.5 Stars!
Witty, slow burn, winter romance!

Easton Lockett was born and raised in Moose Springs, Alaska. He is a simple, nice guy who is a professional mountaineer/climber and looks exactly like Jason Momoa. Along comes River Lane, a 29 year old actor turned director who is shooting her first movie. River is beautiful, bold, and dramatic. She also loves to climb, and with the help of her crew, they decide to make a documentary climbing a 14,000-foot tall mountain in Moose Springs called Mount Veil “The Old Man”. Easton, who has climbed the Veil many times, is hired to be their guide and keep them safe on their journey.

This is the third book in the <i> Moose Springs Alaska series </i>- overall the characters are growing on me and I really like the series. Like other reviews have mentioned, the first half of the book is slow, kind of boring in some places, but the second half is much better. I loved Easton’s personality, I was glad to see he got his own book. I also like how each book is big on animals, this one the marmot steals the show.

However, I really did not like River’s character at all- she’s selfish and stubborn, because she’s an adrenaline junkie she doesn’t care how crazy or dangerous something is, she does whatever she wants. <spoiler> She gets upset at Easton for no reason, brings extra equipment and doesn’t tell anyone, climbs the waterfall even though Easton advised her not to, unclips at the most dangerous part of the climb because of her camera! OK I know that would be devastating to lose the memory card, but isn’t your life more important?! </spoiler> I will say, by the end of the story, she got a little better.

I hope the author continues this series and gives Ash a story. Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for sending me an advanced copy!

Enjoy the View is the third book in the Moose Springs series - a series of books set in Alaska, focused on locals of a small town falling in love with tourists. Naturally, when I found out that this third entry would be about Easton, the mysterious mountain man, I was thrilled.

From a plot standpoint – this was the most exciting book of Moose Springs series – there were real life or death situations, high stakes, and lots of mountain climbing adventures. The addition of action scenes to this otherwise rom-com book definitely helped to drive the plot forward and keep me hooked. There were chapters where my heart pounded and I wasn’t sure of what the outcome would be.

Easton was my favorite side character from the first two books in this series – he was clearly generous and kind to those around him, including virtual strangers and tourists in town. Ever since encountering him in The Tourist Attraction, I was hoping he would get his own book. I greatly enjoyed getting to read from his point of view and getting to get inside his head. River, on the other hand, wasn’t my favorite character. She struck me as fairly one dimensional: her main trait was that she was adventurous to a fault. While this was fun, I wish she would have had more character growth throughout the book and would have had a more well-rounded character.

For me, the relationship between Easton and River is where Enjoy the View falters a bit – their chemistry was not very organic feeling. This was especially stark when you compare River and Easton’s chemistry to that of the couples from the previous two books. Right off the bat, River and Easton had a mutual attraction, but it took me a long time to buy into the authenticity of it. It wasn’t until well into the second half of the book before I felt chemistry between them.

I wanted to love Enjoy the View more than I did. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun rom-com, but it was lacking the magic that the first Moose Springs book, The Tourist Attraction, had. If you haven’t started the series yet, check out my reviews of The Tourist Attraction and Mistletoe & Mr Right. 4/5

I love Sarah Morgenthaler’s books and this one was no exception. Easton and River’s chemistry was great and it felt great to go back into the world of Moose Springs, Alaska.

Moose Springs, Alaska has become one of my favorite romance series. The setting is always wonderful to read about and I enjoy reading about all of the characters from book one as they develop throughout the series. Although this one is my least favorite, I still thought it had it’s good moments.

For me, it was harder to connect with the two main characters in this book. When it came to book one, I liked all the characters and really enjoyed Lana which made it easy for me to connect with her in book two. Easton was present in both books but he still wasn’t a star player. River is a new character and throughout this book we learn about her but I just wasn’t a fan of her personality. She takes a lot of risks, which can be good at times, but she also puts a lot of people in danger because of it.

I did like that the setting wasn’t just in the town of Moose Springs. It takes us to the mountains for climbing and I thought that was great! As someone who would never climb myself (I hate heights, haha), this was a perfect adventure and it also caused for quite the dramatic moments.

The romance in the book is cute, but because I had a hard time connecting with Easton and River, it just didn’t give the giddy feelings that other relationships in books have.

Overall, it was good just not a favorite. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with the book or even the characters. We all make mistakes and that’s just a part of being human. Even though this one wasn’t for me, I am hoping there will be more books written for this series and I would still recommend you read them!

I love this series so much!! Easton and River are two unlikely people who end up falling in love with each other. I loved the way we get to see all the characters again and just how amazing this was! I want to go to Alaska so badly now!

A mountaineer and the Hollywood starlet he’s guiding on a mountain as she’s trying to film a project shes making...what could go wrong? River Lane has turned to filming as her acting career has tanked, and her only project is making a tourist documentary about the small town of Moose Springs, Alaska, the only hitch? Everyone in town is avoiding her and refusing to be filmed. The only person she has any decent interaction with is the mountaineer that tried to give her road side assistance.....which she fought with. Easton Lockett loves climbing mountains and loves his small town of Moose Springs, suddenly he has a run in with feisty and slightly unhinged River. Suddenly he finds that he can’t not help her and finds himself her guide along the mountains. Reading this felt like I was watching a Hallmark Movie. It’s the third book in the series and I didn’t read any of the previous book but didn’t find that it impacted my reading. The start was interesting, the middle lost me a little bit, but the ending wrapped up nicely. This is a fun romance read and if you like Hallmark Movies this definitely fits the bill.

*Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Easton and River are freakin' adorable!

You have to appreciate a book that will take you somewhere and describes it so vividly that you go, "Nope.  I'm never gonna do that." Enjoy the View combines three things I hate heights, camping and hiking, mixes it with a great cast and gives us a really enjoyable story. And I am not kidding about the vividly, as River describes the views from the mountain and made me feel like I do on the fourth floor of the mall when I get too close to the railing.  I do NOT like heights.

River Lane is a slightly successful actress turning 30, which puts her at the end of her career as a leading lady. River has decided that directing and production is where she wants her career to go next. But Hollywood doesn't have that many women directors and she needs something to help her get a break behind the camera. She and her crew have come to Moose Spring, Alaska to make a promotional spot for the Alaska Board of Tourism. Well, we know how much Moose Springs loves their tourists and River can't even find the Mayor to get her permits to film within the Town limits.

It is just Easton Lockett's bad luck to be the next person to ask River if she needs help as she walks along the road outside of town, unknowingly ruining River's filming and she lets out all her frustration with Moose Springs on him. Or maybe I should say it's Easton's good luck, since meeting River will be the best thing that ever happened to the big, quiet mountain man. Knowing the town as he does, Easton knows that Moose Springs will do whatever they can to stop someone from promoting the town and bringing in more of those hated tourists.

But when they come up with the idea to film a climb to the summit of Mt Veil, it is River's good luck to get the best man of the mountain as their guide, one Easton Lockett. Easton and River share a love for rock climbing and the outdoors and their feelings grow as try try to reach the summit but Mt. Veil is still a dangerous climb even during the Alaskan summer. It might be warm and sunny down in Moose Springs, but up on the Old Man you still need to worry about frostbite, avalanches or simply falling into crevices in the ice. River and her crew think the risks are worth the payoff if they can film a documentary to sell to the tourism board. But the closer they get to the summit, the more the dangers become real and River has to decide if her future as a director is worth the lives that could be lost on the mountain.

Author Sarah Morganthaler uses great characters to give us a fun story which has a real underlying sense of danger. You hear stories of how people die on Mt. Everest every year (which is Easton's dream climb) but along the climb up Mt. Veil Easton gives us an outline of the true dangers which River and her crew face while climbing even a smaller mountain like our fictional Mt. Veil.  It is pretty daunting and while River and her crew are experienced rock climbers, they are so busy filming the scenes around them, they don't always appreciate the real danger they are climbing onto.

I liked Easton and his twin sister, Ash, from the first story and this story certainly cemented my appreciation for the large, quiet mountain man, and I am not the only one since a marmot starts following them up the mountain trying to snuggle up to Easton.  I hope the next story features prickly sister, Ash.

Wow, wow, wow!
I’ve officially read 3 Moose Springs books this year and every single one of them I have fallen head over heels in love with!! Sarah Morgenthaler could write a million books about the people in this town and I’d likely love them all! I was so excited to see that Easton was getting his own story and I knew that the person he was going to be romantically involved with would have to fight HARD to win me over, River did just that!

This book- i have no words.
I felt like this one took a bit to get going, compared to the other two books in this series it wasn’t really until the group was headed up the mountain that I started to see and believe in Easton and Rivers compatibility and affection. Once they started the climb though I was HOOKED!! I swear I flew through every emotion under the sun- I was happy, flirty, giddy, nervous, terrified, anxious, sad, broken, enamored, angry, frustrated, elated, and a million other feelings! This book was quite the ride! This series is one I recommend to everyone and this third installment is the perfect addition! Loved it!

Do you ever have the experience of hating a character, or the actions of a character, so much that you are compelled to rate a book only a single star? That’s what happened to me here. I mean, I wasn’t really loving the book before that point, to say the least, so it’s not like it ruined it for me. But, God, if it didn’t irritate me no end.

First up, a little rundown of the story. River wants to film a tourism documentary in Moose Springs, Alaska. However, the residents of Moose Springs, Alaska have some inexplicable (although probably explicable if I had read the previous books) vendetta against tourists and so go out of their way to make life difficult for her. So, she decides instead to film a climb up a nearby mountain. Which is led by Easton (who had been introduced earlier, but for the purposes of this summary, it’s not relevant). So, Easton takes River and her crew (who thankfully have a little bit of climbing experience, though not quite enough, as we shall see), along with another guide for reasons which shall be explained because they particularly frustrated me, up the mountain.

And obviously, they fall in love on the way.

So, which character ruined this book for me? Well, that would be River.

Full disclosure, I wasn’t River’s biggest fan from the moment she appeared on the page. But I thought, hey, maybe I can come to like her. She’s not unsalvageable.

Only.

She was.

First of all, you would think that, if you’re going up a mountain that has a notable mortality rate, you would listen to your guide. You would not do anything your guide does not want you to do. But no! River has to do her own thing! She has to bring a load of camera equipment that would weigh down their baggage. She has to do it without telling Easton first, so Easton cannot re-evaluate his plans. Then, she has to unclip herself from a line to rescue said camera equipment and thus almost fall off the mountain and die.

And then, when her colleagues cannot continue, she has to make the decision that, no, she must reach the summit. She cannot possibly go down now. And Easton, being in love with her, agrees. Like a fool.

Basically, River just doesn’t take no from an answer, not even a ‘no’ from an expert. Not even when her life is at risk. And that’s the primary reason I couldn’t stand her. The whole “won’t take no for an answer, is determined to get her job done and is ambitious” schtick would have worked...were it not for the fact that she was climbing a mountain, with an aforementioned mortality rate.

Like I said earlier though: I wasn’t exactly loving this book before all this happened. It was a little bland for me, and I didn’t really see anything to root for in the romance. In fact, I was more rooting for River and her colleagues to get summarily blocked from doing anything in the town. And yes, all of this was probably coloured by my not-exactly-positive feelings towards River from the start. Ones which, I feel, could have been redeemed.

Only they weren’t.

And here we are.

So, in conclusion, you have no idea the number of swear words I had to delete from this review.

If you haven't started this series, you need to swiftly catch up so you'll be ready for the release of this great book. I've always wanted to climb a mountain so it was nice to live vicariously through Easton and River.

What I loved about this book:

1. Moose Springs is such a lovely setting that I'll read this whole series so I can continue to read more about this charming town and it's fictional characters.

2. This book has so many witty laugh out loud moments and if you've ever read any of my reviews, you'll know I love a great book that makes me laugh. I know things have been rough this year and I think we all could use a bit more laughter in our lives.

3. I loved the broody silent Easton in the previous books so I loved learning more about his character. Easton and River are a perfect match with so much chemistry between them so I found their story absolutely addictive. I loved how caring and protective they both were and they knew how to compromise to make it work.

This entertaining feel-good romance is definitely a must read in my book. If you're looking for something to make you laugh, smile, and swoon look no further than Enjoy the View.

Enjoy the View is the third book in the Moose Springs series, but it is perfect as a stand-alone. (However, I’ve read the other two, and loved them!)
Sometimes when you read a book, you can feel the love and heart an author has it into it, and I know that is the case here. From the outside, River and Easton are an unlikely pair—she is an actress from Los Angeles, in Moose Springs to film a documentary about the town; he is a mountaineer living in Alaska. When she signs her crew up to climb a mountain with Easton as their guide, they each discover that on the inside, they might be exactly what the other needs. There are sparks between this couple that light up the page, their banter is incredibly fun to read, but it’s their tenderness that gives their story its heart. River and Easton are such great characters, brave, devoted, adventurous, and delightful. The scenes on the mountain brought an unexpected layer of danger, sacrifice, and risk-taking that took my breath away.

The third installment of The Moose Springs, Alaska series focuses on the town’s sasquatch of a man, Easton and when he is hired to take on River Lane and her film crew up the local mountain for a documentary about the town who is not welcoming them.

As in typical Sarah Morgenthaler fashion, this book had laugh-out-loud humour and I liked that I finally gained insight into Easton’s mind. It also included great flirty banter between the two protagonists.

The chemistry between Easton and River was on point as River kept the hard-to-intimidate Easton on his toes. But as us as Moose Springs fans knew, Easton confirmed that he was a great big teddy bear inside.

On another note, I felt this book took on a different tone than the previous two books in the series as you are taken on the adventure with the characters up Mount Veil. There were dangerous moments where we almost lost the main characters, which was a bit predictable, but overall, this book was still a cute read.

I'm so glad I got to have access to this advanced copy as I had just finished reading the other 2 books in the series. I enjoyed this 3rd novel about the residents of Moose Springs. However, I did find the main female character a bit whiny. There are some really funny scenes in the book. Plus a marmot plays a role.

💕 We’re back to Moose Springs, my favorite place in Alaska! First, I absolutely loved that characters from the previous two books were at least mentioned. Graham and Zoey get a decent amount of page time which made me so happy. After reading The Tourist Trap and Mistletoe & Mr. Right, I was really looking forward to Easton’s story because well Easton. (swoon) 🥰
🏔 Enjoy the View is different from the first two books of the series in that it’s a little more serious. There’s still humor, especially with a certain marmot involved, but the adventure and danger of mountain climbing just gives this book a different vibe. However, there is definitely some yummy romance and flirty banter like we’ve seen from Sarah Morgenthaler before. Easton & River enjoy flirting with each other and tempting the other with a look or a suggestive comment.
The friendship between Easton and Graham is evident again. As with the previous books, Sarah Morgenthaler writes a story that exemplifies how friends can become family. For a town who claims to not like tourists, they’ve met some pretty amazing women who fell in love with their town and one of their charming men and, in the end, become a part of the Moose Springs family. 😉

I am going to start off by saying, I didn't know this was book 3 in the series. That made have made a difference in my reading order. I felt a little lost when reading this book, and now I know why. I am going to give it a 3 stars, but reread it again after I read the other 2 books in this series.

This was easily my favorite of the Moose Springs books! I don’t love winter and being cold but while reading this book I wanted to pick up and climb a mountain in Alaska.

I enjoyed the bickering side characters and River’s growth as she figures out who she is and who she wants to be.

And — SPOILER ALERT — I absolutely loved that after the women moved to Alaska for ~love~ in the first two books, Easton moved to be with River at the end of this one.

Read this book if you like man buns, mountain climbing, Alaska, and hot mountaineers.

All in all a fun little romance/adventure about a Hollywood actress turned producer and an Alaskan mountaineer. River Lane is worried that her acting career is drying up as she's nearing 30. She decides to produce a documentary about Moose Springs, Alaska for the tourism board. She can't seem to get the needed permits from the town, she decides to film a trek up a nearby mountain.. Easton Lockett, a local mountain guide, is hired to show her and her crew the way.

I thought the mountain scenes were really suspenseful and added a lot to the story so that it wasn't just a simple romantic comedy.

My one issue is at the VERY end about a choice that River makes. It disappointed me. It's hard to say what without spoiling the ending. Alls well that ends well, but it just left a tiny little bad taste.

Also, why are the guys in these books always ridiculously tall? 6'6"? LOL
