I was enthralled with the promised idea of the book, but in the end I didn't feel like I wholly connected to the poems. Some I liked, some left me untouched, but in the end I felt inspired to gain new perspectives on life, to make my own poetic rules.

I love celebrating National Poetry Month and this collection includes several poems that will be added to my April rotation.

For all who are not "poetry readers", this book is a great beginning. Light and playful, these poems allow the reader to observe life as it would be if poetry had its way. The language is easily accessible and a poem for each day of the month allows the reader to absorb the poetry in a daily reading.

The conceit of this book of poems is fun to read, and would be interesting to explore in a classroom setting.

The idea of this collection was so great! But, ultimately, it didn't quite live up to the version of it I had made up in my mind.

I think I expected something a bit more involved or surreal... Some of the poems definitely hit that note (foolishly, I bookmarked them in Netgalley's app, but lost them when it expired...), But others just fell flat to me.

I think that this is a interesting way into poetry, and that there was a lot of potential in the ideas and the structure of it... But I guess it just wasn't for me.

This book was free and sent to me as an ARC on NetGalley. However, all reviews are of my own opinion.
This book would be loved by everyone who chooses to read it - people will enjoy the fact it is quick and some of the poems are witty.
This book can be read throughout the month but I chose to read it in one sitting, there are 31 days to read. Some could require deeper thought as they are shorter, but I guess this leaves for the imagination.
I did re-read one or two to completely get a full understanding but I loved the experience of yet another poetry book!
I wouldn’t personally call them poems, rather so, entries. However, this book is definitely worth a read!

This was an unusual set of unique "poems". I was reading them one day at a time -- and spending some time on each, thinking about what the author was getting at. Even if the poem was silly, perhaps I could find something in there that would be illuminating. More often than not, I did find some lesson or thought to hang on to. While many offerings did leave me scratching my head, there were a couple of beauty that will stick with me. Interesting enough, but "instructional" should be viewed as optimistic.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions above are my own.

This collection was not at all what I was expecting. As someone who doesn't read a lot of poetry, I enjoyed the concise nature of these one-a-day poems. They're bite-sized and succinct. That said, I didn't feel they were all particularly "instructional." Some just had a nice thought or image, so unless the title was an attempt at humor, I found it a little misleading. But it was still a fun collection to breeze through.

These poems were fun, and there was no way after reading the first couple that I'd be able to wait a month before reading them all.

A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems is a book with short poems to read one each day, but I read it in a sitting! I love the way their witty and simple at the same time. I read a few of them a couple of times to understand the deeper meaning behind them, but overall I loved the experience. Though I won't say that they can be called as poems, conventionally, yet they definitely are worth a read!!

I love a book that comes with instructions on how to read it. This one instructs us to read one page per day over the course of a month, but I cheated and read the book in its entirety during my lunch break. It was refreshing and thought-provoking, and put me in a much better mood than I was in when I came to it. I would definitely recommend following the reading instructions and seeing how you feel after a month!

Today I am #reading: A Month’s Worth of Instructional Poems by Rebecca Bridge. Short, concise yet these poems dig a little deeper in “instruction”, hitting an emotional cord.

This collection of witty quips was entertaining and quick to devour. However, I often found myself wanting a bit more from some of the sentiments, or not fully understanding the relationship between the subtitle and the blurb. An interesting read, and can see how this could be easily enjoyed by others.

A very welcome diversion with beautifully written and compelling poems. As an occasional poetry reader I enjoyed these selections.

A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems is exactly as it sounds, it's 31 poems for how to live your life.

I really enjoyed the format and content of this poetry book. Some of the poems felt a tad nonsensical for my liking but there were other poems I loved wholly. If you break the rules as I did and don't read only one a day, this book is a super quick read. I wish I had the time luxury to spend a month reading this book because I feel like I might have enjoyed it even more than I already did.

This extremely short book was so great I read it multiple times. Bridge's images in her How To poems were eye opening, and inspiring. I can't wait to read it with my high school students!

A Month's Worth of Instructional Poems was a unique and light read. I really enjoyed the concept Bridge had on taking complex emotions and interpreting them through a technical style. This collection of poems would be an excellent read for someone who is beginning their exploration through the genre of poetry. As readers, we're instructed to read only one poem a day. I found this note would be very helpful to readers so they wouldn't feel rushed into finishing the pages and also give them a chance to reflect on what Bridge is trying to convey through her work. (I broke that rule and read the whole book in one sitting though. oops.) The length of the pieces are short, but their ability to draw so much imagery and emotion through such few words is very compelling and impressive. The surrealism of these poems gives readers a new perspective of humanity that is more engaging and thought provoking and its something I feel people would really need right now especially with how the state of the world is currently.

I really enjoyed this book! It’s set up to be read one poem per day for a month. The poems are short, like fortune cookies or vignettes. They take no time at all to read, but some of them do stay with you. Quirky and, at times, wise. Recommended!

Thank you Netgalley for a free digital review copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

The instruction at the beginning of the book said to read one poem a day for a month, but I couldn't resist reading the whole thing at once. This is a collection of sarcastic and great poems full of similes and metaphors. Everyday events and human feelings are compared to the very common items and phenomenons, it's so good and lighthearted.

I loved reading these poems and definitely be reading one a day over the coming months.
