Christina McDonald does it again in this page turner! Emma and Nate have the perfect life love that is endless a cute little boy Josh, Careers that they both love! All that pales when they find out Josh is sick with an aggressive form of leukemia. Nate and Emma need to figure out how to pay for the treatment that their insurance doesn’t cover, you would think that a dr and detective would have some savings and great insurance, but as is all too common in this world nothing is what it seems. Nate is given a lifeline if he solves a string of od’s it could push him up the ladder hence solving their money problems, Emma finds another way. What would you do as a parent if you needed the money to save your sick child! With twists and turns that will give you whiplash this is as great at the other two McDonald books! Can’t wait to read more. Thank you net galley for the early access to this great book.

I have always enjoyed Christina McDonald's work and this is no exception. What would you do if your 4 year old son was diagnosed with leukemia ? What if there was a treatment that would 98% cure him, but it costs thousands of dollars?

Emma Sweeney is a physician and loves her job. She has the perfect family. Her loving husband is a police officer and her son is the sweetest boy. When her son continues to get sick, and weird bruises show up. The MD in Emma makes her take him to the doctor. Only to find out her son has advance stages of leukemia and the treatment needs to get started right away in order for him to live. Emma and her husband rack their brain thinking of ways to come up with money but, with it already so tight, its impossible. Emma does the only thing she knows, she starts an Opioid drug ring with her brother to make the money for treatment because her son is the only thing that matters. Will she get caught? Is it worth destroying her life and going to prison? You find out how strong a mother's love is.

WOW! This book is not only relevant (the opioid pandemic in this country) but fast pasted, suspenseful and full of tough decisions. I read this book in a day because I could not put it down. In true McDonald fashion, she makes you feel so much for the characters. Josh, the 4 year old is the cutest little character. I wished he was real and I could give him a hug. The twists and cluster F's that are involved in this made my head spin. All in all this was extremely entertaining!

Thank you Netgalley for my advance copy and my change to read this for an honest review!

Wow,,,,,This is definitely a book that will stay with me. Full of not only twists and turns but moral questions with twists that make the reader rethink everything. This book definitely continues Christina McDonald writing riveting thrillers that keep the reader glued to the pages. Emma, a doctor, and Nate, a police detective, feel like their life is going well. Until their five year old son starts to feel sick and has strange bruising. They find out he has a highly aggressive and potentially lethal variant of leukemia. Switching between their perspectives this book shows what a parent will do to save their child. Because desperation will lead people down roads they never could have imagined. I highly recommend this book, it was well written, fast-paced, and full of beautifully flawed and therefore realistic people.

Do No Harm by Christina McDonald is a novel about a young mother who has struggled in her childhood, only to come out on top. She married the love of her life. She has a beautiful young son she adores. And she made it through med-school. But Emma's happiness was all about to crumble to the ground. Josh, her son, is diagnosed with leukemia and the risky, life-saving treatment isn't covered by insurance. Her husband is trying to get ahead at work and make lieutenant. Stress is high and the stakes are even higher. Emma's past resurfaces and she has to face some hard facts to get through.
Overall, this was an okay read. It was interesting enough to keep me interested but getting through the book did take me a while. I was drawn to the story like I can be sometimes. The writing was easy to read and the chapters were written in chronological order, which made the story easy to follow.
Special thanks to NetGalley, Christina McDonald, and Gallery Books for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Do No Harm by Christina McDonald. Do No Harm unless the ends justifies the means. Emma driven to save her son at all costs, even at the expense of others. Did not like Emma either at the beginning of the story and especially at the end. She was very cold and calculating. Nate for being a hot shot detective was clueless when it came to his wife. Interesting premise but unbelievable in some instances.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

I loved Christina’s first book, the second one was not quite as good. This book, all I can say is what a book! Great from page one. Christina McDonald tackles the moral and ethical lines crossed by a doctor desperate to save her child. I can’t say enough good about this book or recommend it highly enough.

Thanks @Netgalley @Gallerybooks for giving me the chance to read this ebook.

I am a huge fan of Christina, and was excited to read this book!

The book is wow, good. Based in Washington, Emma is a physician, and her husband Nate is a detective. Sadly, their 5 yr old son is diagnosed with cancer. The drugs needed for their son, is not covered by insurance, so Emma gets involved in an illegal drug ring with her ex, Gabe. But her husband is investigating!!

The book is well written, keeps you on your toes, and of course it makes one think of how far a Mom will go to save their child.

Thrilling read!!!

Wow, was this book gives you all the feels! The blurred lines between helping your family versus doing no harm keeps you turning the pages. Then, when you get comfortable with the plot line there are more twists! This is a book I won't soon forget.

Thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emma is a doctor at a clinic in a small town in Washington that is suffering from the opioid crisis. When her 5 year old son Josh needs a cancer treatment that insurance won’t cover, she starts selling signed scripts from the doctors in her clinic through her ex boyfriend Gabe. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to her, her detective husband, Nate, is investigating a drug ring with ties to her estranged brother.

This was a well written and researched book that I could not really get into. When I put it down, I wasn’t itching to pick it back up and it took me a whopping 9’days to finish it. I think I am just not that interested in parenting challenges or the opioid crisis even though the latter is timely subject matter. Because there is really nothing wrong with the book, I am giving it a 4 star. I liked this author’s last 2 books, so I will read more in the future.

LOVED this book. A bit sad as far as the ending goes, but definitely a wonderful and worthwhile read. Great characters, and you can almost feel their emotions as you read. Highly recommend

What a roller coaster ride. When Nate and Emma’s son Josh is diagnosed with leukemia, they are heartsick knowing they don’t have enough money to pay for experimental treatment. Nate, a police detective, turns his energy toward solving the drug problem in their town. Emma turns toward a darker solution. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my review.

Wow! This book blew me away. How far would you go to save your child? What would you be willing to sacrifice? Emma is faced with this question when her son is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

She makes a risky choice to safe her son, but will the cost be too high?

This is another riveting tale by Christina McDonald that is a must read. It delves into opioid crisis that has gripped our country and begs to question what is the right and wrong thing to do for those in honest pain, and the lengths they will go to to eliminate that pain,

The ending took me my complete surprise but tied everything together rather neatly.

I am a avid Christina McDonald fan after this book since she has expanded the scope, and beauty of her writing.

One of the things I love about @christinamac79 is that her books are so different (in the best way)! I get so excited when I know she has a new book coming out as she is definitely one of my go-to’s! #donoharm made me stop and think about how far would I really go to save my family. I absolutely love this book!! This book hits the shelves February 16– Adding to the endless lists of reasons 2021 cannot get here soon enough!! Thank you to @netgalley and @gallerybooks for the #arc

How far would you go to save your child's life? Is there any line you would not cross?
That is the question posed in Christina McDonald's upcoming release. The simple answer is: I'd do anything! And, boy, does the drama unfold in such an expected manner in this thriller!

In true form, McDonald opens with a passage from one of her final chapters. I love this about her writing style - we immediately all become super sleuths, but ultimately it just messes with our mind throughout the whole story! In the first two pages, we learn almost immediately of a critical knife wound, but how do we get to this place?

Emma, a well-respected doctor, and her husband, Nate, a local detective, are dealt an explosive blow about the fate of their 5-year-old son, Josh. He's been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and the only treatment is more costly than they ever imagined. Faced with the unthinkable, Emma and Nate are forced to make choices no parent should ever have to make. Using her connections, Emma learns of an opportunity for quick cash. But can she hide her activities from her detective husband?

Overall, this was an okay read for me, but there was just a bit too much drama thrown in. Tragedy is expected, but poor Emma seems to have been dealt a crap hand in life. And as much as I feel for her, I had a very hard time liking her character. This one wasn't a homerun for me, but McDonald has a style that I will always love - and always read.

Do No Harm by Christina McDonald is a heart wrenching thriller surrounding a happy family of 3. The happiness turns to fear and motivation when kindergartner, Josh, is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. How fat would you go to save your son? Excellent book.

Let start off that I loved everything about this book!
A stunning gut-punch of a suspense novel expertly merges the dangers of the opioid crises with a mother’s love, leaving us gasping for more. The author tackles the moral and ethical l’onestà crossed by a doctor desperate to save her child.
Heartbreaking, heart pounding read.
Would highly recommend this book!

Woah! This story gave me such a rush of thrill! I did not want to put it down. I don’t normally like to read advanced copies, too far in advance, but I love Christina’s books, so I knew this would be a really good one..

The scenes and the characters were so well described that I could see the story playing out in my head as I was reading.

Wow....an ending I did not see coming. I’m not sure if I love or hate Emma, mom to Josh and husband to Nate. What would you do to save your child. Most of us say we would do anything, but would we? Really good, and made me wonder what I would choose.

Emma had a traumatic life when she was a young teenager from being with her parents when they passed away in a car accident, to going into the foster care system to losing her brother to drugs and the life of crime. She learned never to take anything for granted, and to only depend on herself. Now, she is a doctor and she is married to the best man she could have hoped for Nate. Nate is a police officer in the hopes of solving a case to get a promotion to Lieutenant in the local precinct. They are on the up and up until the unthinkable happens Josh, her son, is diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia that without an expensive treatment he is likely not to survive.
When faced with the situation of trying to come up with the financial side of paying for the treatment, and to top it off the treatment is not covered by their insurance. Facing the reality that she must save her son she enters a deal with her brother and a friend from the past selling prescriptions to attempt to cover the cost of her son's treatment. Then, Nate in an attempt to bring in more money to pay for Josh's treatment also takes on an Opiate case where people are overdosing on opiates on the street. Teaming up with another agency is the only way to solve the case and hope to make Lieutenant to bring in more money and better working hours. Both of the parents working on both sides of the law without the other one knowing will be the crash course waiting to happen!
Man oh Man! Christina did it again! She turned a case so heart wrenching and kept me on the edge of my seat! I literally kept putting the book down to breathe because I didn't want Emma to get caught and some of the twist oh my! This book shows a mother doing anything, putting everything on the line for her son. Definitely makes you wonder if everything is really just black and white with the law, if there is not some gray area. This book is heart wrenching, heart breaking, realistic, dramatic, full of lies, and determination to save one boy! I loved it and will read it again, definitely soo freaking good! If you love nail biting moments, close call moments, and amazing thrillers that make you question everything then this book is for you!
