Road trip! I have to admit I have mixed feelings about this- I loved the travel and yet I was also so darn jealous of Anna and Demi! Not of what sent Anna off to Kefalonia- the death of her dad, the discovery that her guy is a rat, and so o= but of the fact that they can travel through Europe and on to Greece, This has lovely descriptions of the journey, the food, and the people they meet. The plot felt a bit familiar but I didn't care because it's a Sue Roberts, and as her readers know, she's got a great storytelling style. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.

A perfect summer read for the reader who seeks escapism into the beauty of Greece coupled with romance. Anna starts the trip.with Demi as a tribute to her father but along the way learns very important life lessons on living in the moment as well as actively pursuing the dream she had in her heart regarding a career change. Being around Demi and Petros reiterated the importance of family. I would absolutely read a sequel of her and Dara's next adventure. Fun read!

Another amzing summer read by the great Sue Roberts. If you need a pick me up and set off on a journey to take in lots of new exciting places and end up on the sunny island of Kefalonia, then this is what the dr ordered.
We start our adevnture in the not so sunny location of Manchester where she works at a bank, but redundancies are happening and she takes this oppotunity to take an adventrous trip to Kefalonia, one her dad loved so much. Anna isnt an advneture seeker, so when shes clearing out her dads items shes left with this old camper van he toured around kefalonia in selling fish. Redundancies, ex boyfriend, why not? its what i did but i spent 2 whole months in Athens touring the saroonic islands.
So Anna sets off from Manchester onto the continent to France, Italy and switzerland and then onto a ferry to a Greek island with her dads greek friend Demi. On this trip Anna finds out about whey Demi has never been back to Greece since she left. Anna drops Demi off to her family and Anna begins to explore and do some research of her to see if she can help with Demi hidden secret.... Anna met a young irishman in Italy and they just keep bumping into one another, is it a sign of a new love or is it just a friendship about to blossom, watch this space and read this book.
Theres sadness in this book from the deaths of loved ones, theres laugh out loud monets, and just pure enjoyment. Secrets and new loved opnes appear, i just I love Greece so whenever i see a book set in Greece, im always there. Loved it.

🌅Cozy tale of family, friends, feta and a little road romance 💕

🛂🚢🚙 4-4.5🌟stars
In the usual style of the Sue Roberts novels I've read, this story delivers a strong female lead who learns about herself while having a lovely time! It's easy to read and, though it deals with some serious heartache, the general spirit is happy and positive.

Anna undertakes a driving journey from England to Greece, totally out of her comfort zone, to honor her recently-deceased father's memory and find her own connection to the places he visited as a young man and never forgot. Anna is a generous soul and when she learns her traveling companion Demi's sad story related to her move to England from Greece she becomes instrumental in resolving a fifty year mystery. Strangers well met along the way include a handsome vagabond Irishman who provides some romance and a sea glass jeweller who looks strangely familiar. Summer sun, tasty local delicacies and some beautiful sights throughout Europe lay the background for an enticing, leisurely read, whether at the beach or at home.

Thanks to publishers Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I'm becoming a big fan of Sue Roberts! This new book is a nice compilation of travelogue, romance, humor and warmth. After her father dies, Anna decides to take his van on a "tribute" trip from England to the Greek island of Kefalonia. She has just taken a voluntary layoff, not sure what she wants to do when she returns. She decides to ask her family's friend Demi (nearly 70) if she wants to come along, since Demi was born in Greece and hasn't seen her family for decades. They embark on an interesting journey, ultimately arriving in Kefalonia. Surprises await them along the way and upon their arrival. This book is a great motivator to all of us to travel while we're able (or when, as the case is today). I enjoyed the characters, the stories, and the sites along the way.

This is the perfect summer read. Devoured in 3 sittings-both charming and delightful. The main characters were likeable and so relatable. The characters develop beautifully throughout the story and the book leaves a warm feeling and sends out the message “Life is too short”.
Using Greece as it’s background I’ve definitely put this on my places to visit. This my first book by the author and it won’t be my last. Perfect for rom-com/chick lit fans.

I wanted to enjoy Some Like It Greek because Greece is probably the number one country I want to visit because that's where my grandfather is from. However, I just couldn't get into this story. I didn't find the characters to be all that compelling, and it seemed to take me longer than it should to read this type of book.

Thank you netgalley and bookouture for the E-ARC of this book. I love a “holiday” summer read, and this one didn’t disappoint. I loved seeing the friendship between Demi and Anna Blossom. I also loved reading about the different places their road trip brought them. This has everything, travel, love, and friendship! Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to review Some Like it Greek by Sue Roberts.

So, I picked this book because , just like everyone else right now, I’m stuck. I’m dying to travel and can’t because of the pandemic. I think this would normally be a beach read, but right now it’s a get out of Covid-19 book.

This is a story of a woman who takes a trip when her whole life is turned upside down. She travels from her home in England all the way to Greece with an older lady and they have a life changing adventure in a camper van. The descriptions of places and foods really took me there. This book will put you in the mood to get outside and have a picnic if nothing else.

There is a fair amount of romance in here, but it's not overwhelming. Very enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's the trip that we'd all like to be taking this year. The relationship between Anna and Demi was lovely and I loved reading about Anna's journey of self discovery. There were some twists and turns along the way, along with some mouth watering food descriptions (I spent a lot of the time salivating over them) . Some lovely heart warming moments along with some that made me chuckle. Very easy book to read and I finished it just wanting to move to a Greek island and sing ABBA songs.

How badly can things go for someone before they begin to feel totally jinxed? Anna has had her third horrible happening one after another and she has to force herself to be cheerful, put a positive spin on everything that has happened in the last month or so and make decisions for her future. She has lost her cheating long-time boyfriend to a redheaded lover, her lovely Dad has passed away suddenly and now she has been made redundant from her workplace after a downturn in the business.
While she is at her Dad’s home all alone one day, clearing out his house ready for it to be sold, she finds a modern road map of what seems to be a route her Dad was planning to use for a return to Kefalonia, using his converted Fish seller’s van that he has changed into a lush camper van. She also finds old photos of him in Kefalonia when he and his mates went on holiday together when they were young and fancy free. She remembers him telling his two daughters what a lovely place it was and what lovely friends they made.
She ponders these revelations and gradually an idea forms in her head. In honour of her Dad she will set off using his route and her redundancy money to finance her holiday. While she is there she will scatter some of his ashes in the sea at Skala, his favourite destination. Another embryo of an idea also begins to form. She’ll ask her Dad’s Greek friend Demi, Also a near neighbour of her Dad’s, if she would like to return to her homeland and visit her family who live near Sami. She’ll be an invaluable help as a native language speaker. Now all she has to do is persuade her to come and Bob’s your uncle! Luckily Demi accepts her offer and their plans, dates and arrangements are made. Demi can stay with her family in Kefalonia, leaving Anna free to visit Skala before driving north to the jewel of the island, Fiskardo, the rich men’s luxury playground and haunt of the rich yacht owners, indeed a boutique town.
All too soon the departure day arrives and it is time to set off from Salford for Skala on the southern coast of Kefalonia, all broken into doable days with resting times built in, as they journey onwards to Italy in preparation for their fifteen hour ferry crossing to picturesque Sami. This is the story of one wonderful summer and the magical consequences that bless our two lovely ladies who may be a generation apart from each other but are still enduring friends.
I zipped through this beautifully told story, enjoying every single moment of my reading experience. It was a joyful, juicy, jolly story of love, friendship, family and life changing events. I loved the characters and especially the vivid and spot-on descriptions of tranquil and beautiful Kefalonia and the Greek way of life. This would be an excellent choice of women’s fiction to take with you on holiday or to curl up with on sunny afternoons, especially this year when so many of us have lost our planner for holidays. Trust me, it is the next best thing if, like me, you cannot travel because of Corona Virus and the volatile nature of its spread. I definitely ‘Like it Greek’ and that is where we were going until ……
My first holiday in Kefalonia was to Skala and my second to Sami. What a read I had, memories stimulated by the authors gorgeous descriptions. It was a veritable feast for me. I read the blurb and straight away requested the novel for review. It definitely exceeded my expectations. It’s a 4.5* review from me. I received this novel through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Bookouture in return for an honest review. Thank you most sincerely for my copy. I recommend it as a very good read.

Poor Anna has had a bit of time of it lately. Her father passed away, she's lost her job and now she has to try and sell their family home. All whilst dealing with her snippy, social climbing sister.

She finds hints at her fathers travelbug past and decides to follow his footsteps and try to unearth the details of a trip he made to Greece before marrying her mum. Enter the most unlikely travel buddies, Anna and OAP Demi. Demi hasn't been back to Greece after a family mystery and she has decided now is the time to face them.

There are lots of strong female relationships of various types in the book, Anna and her bestie Roz, Anna and her sister Liz, and Anna and Demi. Lots of long-held secrets and tragedy's to uncover along the way. The travelogue if brilliant with scenery and food descriptions. Having read this during COVID-19 lockdown and having my own holiday in Greece cancelled, this was just the injection of sunshine I needed.

Joel is a backstabbing asshat! The ex-boyfriend from hell. I really loved the way he was sidelined, he was never a major part of the book, just as he deserved! Dara is just the kind of romantic, mysterious, enigmatic stranger Anna needed. He injected a bit of passion in her life that she was sadly lacking and even though the whole money thing was bit over the top, I still enjoyed meeting him and his involvement in the plot.

Some Like It Greek by Sue Roberts is a beautiful summer read.
I read this book over the COVID lockdown heatwave and although we aren’t allowed to travel to Greece this book have me the next best thing.
After Anna loses her father a few years after her mother and is made redundant from work she finds herself at a crossroads. Inspired by photographs of her Dad’s travels to Greece she decides to pack up her Dads camper van and go travelling. Inviting along her friend Demi, so she can visit her family.
Along the way she learns about Demi’s life and takes stock of her own.
The descriptions of the places they visit along with the heartwarming story of love, loss and finding yourself made for a perfect summer story.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Who wouldn’t be inspired by Anna’s journey, travelling in a camper van to Greece, accompanying her is her parents friend Demi.
Follow Anna’s exciting adventure. Will she find everything she’s searching for, confidence in herself and maybe a holiday romance?
Guaranteed unputdownable and the descriptions of Greece make me want to visit now.

This is the first book I have read from this author and thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book! This is the honest review totally based on my opinion.

In a month, Anna loses everything–first her relationship with Joel, then she lost her father from a heart attack and then she lost her job. It seems to Anna that she is living in hell. While clearing out her father’s house, Anna discovers a stack of photos and postcards belonging to her father, when her father was young and was travelling to the Greek Island of Kefalonia. Using the money of redundancy she got from the bank, she decides to embark on a road trip to Kefalonia to reminisce her father’s memories and she is accompanied by Demi, a fellow friendly neighbor who is also Greek and who seems to be having some second thoughts about going to Greece. Towards their journey, they encounter surprises, making new friends, even finding some romance and also some fun!

This book is actually fun and quick to read. I have never been to Greece so reading this book, made me think that I was in Greece with Anna and Demi. The story is told from the complete perspective of Anna so as a reader you get to enjoy the Greek culture, Greek food (of course I have tried Greek food) and of course the perfect sceneries and descriptions given by the author, as I picture the sandy warm beaches and places around the island of Kefalonia. I just like how warm and friendly this book is and reading this book made me wish I can go to Greece too! Even the descriptions of the road trip, as both Anna and Demi go through France then through the Swiss Alps and Italy also created the image in my head as what the scenery and places look like. Truly enjoyed reading the book. Also the characters are likable as well as both Anna and Demi are perfect duo, encouraging each other throughout their journey and supporting each other.

This book is a heartwarming book to read, filled with laughter and romance, a perfect read for summer. Oh not to mention this book will take you to the journey to Greece along with Anna and Demi. Totally worth reading and is also a quick read.

This was my first book by Sue Roberts and I really enjoyed it.
I found the characters well thought out and relatable to the reader. It was a fun read perfect for a summer beach read and it made me really want to go to Santorini!

Join Anna and her friend Demi as they travel in a camper van across Europe to Kefalonia, one to find true love and the other to find the purest love - her child. A fabulous summer read.

Some Like it Greek by Sue Roberts was a lovely entertaining afternoon read.
Anna and Demi were both likable and relatable characters. The characters develop well throughout the story as their thoughts and history are revealed through Anna's thoughts and Demi's conversations with Anna.

The plot moves smoothly and the descriptive writing by Ms. Roberts made France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece come to life as they traveled along the roads in the campervan. With a touch of romance for Anna and a heartfelt family reunion for Demi, I quickly escaped from the real world for a few hours. In these times of "stay at home orders" I found this book to provide me with an "armchair travel experience" that I relished.

Don't get me wrong - I liked the book. I didn't love it - but I liked it. However the "A completely laugh-out-loud romantic comedy" is a bit misleading. I wish there was more of a backstory and a little better of an ending.

This story starts out with Anna, fresh off of losing her father, her job, and a bad breakup, trying to figure out what her next step is. While going through her fathers belongings, she finds a map of Greece from his youth, along with a new map, showing her father was planning to go back to Greece. Anna decides to head to Greece and asks her fathers neighbor, who grew up in Greece but hasn’t been back for decades, to join her.

What I liked:
+I chose this book because Greece is one of the countries I’m most interested in visiting. The author did paint a great picture of the beautiful country and various sights to see.
+Demi, the neighbor, was a fun and spunky character. She was the most developed character of the book and carried the books storyline.

What I didn’t like:
+For a shorter book, this took me a long time to work through. It didn’t draw me in and captivate my attention.
+ The description on this book says it’s a romantic comedy, but it was more so a story of self discovery. Anna spends this time deciding what she wants to do with her life when she returns from Greece, and the romance introduced lacked depth and didn’t leave me rooting for them as a couple.
+Every single meal was documented and it felt like complete overkill. I didn’t need to know she had yogurt and fruit for breakfast. I understand outlining some of the dishes to paint a picture but 3 meals a day plus snacks, was too much.
