I liked this book. I enjoyed it more than I expected to as it is a verrrrry slow burn (don't expect anything too steamy lol). It is very cute and quite funny. It's a royal romance but at times I almost forgot about that because of the book's setting. I really liked Gale as a character and Odette grew on me. I like them as a couple and was always eager to get back to the book whenever I had a chance. Note: This is not the first book I have read by J.J. McAvoy but it definitely feels different from her other mafia series. The book ends on a cliffhanger that actually surprised me and this book is part 1 with part 2 coming later so don't expect a HEA quite yet.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book; it was definitely a slow burn, but there was great dialogue and an engaging plot. I am excited for the second part of this novel to be released!! I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Holy guacamole!!!

This story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!

The. Entire. Time.

I loved this story - beginning to end! Please note this is part 1 and there will be a part 2. Now we gotta patiently wait for pet 2. *sigh*
He’s a price from a country who is in need of money. A playboy prince who has no issues sleeping with a married woman and another woman. I didn’t think I would like him. (I’m going off on a tangent. Oops!)
Solution - marry a woman with lots of money. Enter Odette. Daughter to a deceased billionaire.
I don’t want to tell you if or why anything happens. I went into this story blind and I hope you go in the same way. Trust me on this one.

I CANNOT wait for part 2 to be released!

This book was just ok for me. Gale and Odette were an alright pair. This book does end in an cliffhanger, and I am not a fan of them. Odette was a wonderful heroine thought. I am new to this author and I am not sure I will read more.

I just finished this book and I could not put it down!

J. J. McAvoy made me so hungry to get to the end that I didn't stop until I finished the book.

This is one of those books you must never judge by the cover, in fact, you can never judge by the cover. There are no words to describe all the emotions I felt while reading this book.

Let's just say that I am in mercy of J.J. McAvoy until I read all the books in this series.

New to this author but I enjoyed this book. I do like the royal theme and felt like I was there. I enjoyed it and recommend this book to readers

The Prince’s Bride Part 1
By: J.J. McAvoy
Rating: 3 Stars ⭐️

Blurb: He is a spoiled playboy prince whose family is in desperate need of money.
She’s an American heiress who can only get her inheritance through marriage.
According to their families they are a perfect match.
According to each other, arranged marriages have no place in modern times and this could not possibly work.
But Prince Galahad “Gale” of Ersovia is bound by duty to obey the crown anyway.
Odette Wyntor doesn’t give a damn, she doesn’t want to get married. Can he change her mind? Can she even handle what it means to be royal, if he did? The Prince’s Bride is Part 1 of a 2 part series.

I usually enjoy a arranged marriage trope but this one didn’t work for me. I couldn’t connect with Gale and Odette and wasn’t vested in their happily ever after. They are both resentful because they are being forced to marry due to family demands. He has to marry for money to save the kingdom and she has to marry to gain her inheritance from her deceased father. I found myself skimming a lot. There is no steam in this book. There is a major twist at the end which I didn’t see coming. I love a royal/commoner romance but this one didn’t quiet work for me.

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC.

First of all, JJ is not kidding, when she said "it's a Slow burn"

I loved the characters forming in this book, honesty of the characters, and their attraction towards each other was real, not something unrealistic. I loved Odette and her loyalty towards her mother. But the story between Gale and Odette is still incomplete and hopefully, their passion will brew in book 2.

Overall this book is a good read and would recommend it to someone who is looking for a light romance.

First off! WOW! Did not expect that twist! I know JJ from her other stories and I was READY for a new one. This one is totally new and brilliant and has me a loss for words. I love the touch of reality that it brings for having a interracial couple and how what the media would portray the couple as. I love the story line and it’s gonna be hell waiting for the second part! JJ always loves the cliffhangers and she brought another one.

"Very thankful to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review"

I'm gonna be honest. I didn't have a good track record with J.J. up to this point but... wow... am I surprised how much I loved this book!
I remember not hating their books but also not liking them that much BUT THIS! Dear God, I loved this book (even when i didn't like all the characters)
Our main characters... Odette, she was both perfect and flawed. I can't go into it on why I liked her so much without spoiling this and I don't want to spoiled it for anyone!
Now, my baby Gale... prince charming is nothing on Gale! Again, he was perfect because he was imperfect and I loved it. He owned all his flaws and that made him even better.
Side characters... let me rave about Wolfgang and Iskandar... they added funny and endearing moments to the book. I loved them. I disliked Odette's mom from the get going I never warmed up to her, I didn't cared for whatever reasoning she had... I do not like her. Arty... I have a love hate relationship with him tho by the end I did loved him and understood him more but... I rather not talk about Arty becauseof reasons.

There were a few typos but is an arc so is normal but overall it was a fantastic book.

This is not the first book I've read from this author and just like the previous books I've read, this one does not disappoint. It was such a fantastic read!!! I absolutely enjoyed Gale, Odette, her mom Wilhelmina and the side characters although Odette's stepmom Yvonne keeps pushing her boundaries. I like her for now even though her actions are a bit much. However, I hope Odette's half-sister Augusta doesn't let her mom destroy their relationship. The back and forth banter between Odette and Gale, and Odette and her mom was not only witty but hilarious and I had a smile on my face the whole time. Gale was so charming and sweet that you can't help but love him, and as pushy as his brother Arty is, there's nothing but love and protection between them. Odette is stubborn at times but she wears her heart on her sleeve and I absolutely love her even more when she lets her guard down. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more because even though I'm wishing that things will be easy, I know that the real challenge has just begun. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I will definitely recommend this light, funny, sweet and enjoyable read to family and friends.

I love to get lost in a great romance novel and The Prince’s Bride had me completely entranced! The Prince’s Bride is the first installment in a two book series so I figured it may end on a cliffhanger (and I was correct)! The fantastic news is that the follow-up book will be released sooner than later (11/27/20) - wooooohooo!!! J.J. McAvoy wow’ed me with this novel because it has everything I adore from a love story—sweetness, swoon(ness), and sassiness! I found the main characters absolutely endearing and I could honestly read a long running series based on them (I am seriously keeping my fingers crossed J.J. McAvoy writes more than 2 installments)! To say I am on the hook would be an understatement and I cannot wait to read where J.J.McAvoy takes these two!

Odette and Gale have no intention of getting married, it's completely out of the question.

However, their families are of a different opinion.

Marriage to Odette could save the economy of the young prince and heir to the throne, which is now collapsing.
With this marriage, Odette will have access to her inheritance.

The two are incompatible from the outset.

Gale enters Odette's house, invades her space, her privacy and she rightly feels inveperated about this situation.

But this period will give them a chance to get to know each other better, and that is exactly what they will do.

Through messages, letters, unexpected gifts and small gestures, Odette and Gale will learn to know and love each other.

If the prospect of an arranged marriage was certainly not what they were hoping for now and what they yearn for.

And the families could only be happier with the situation, even if they lack respect for what the real tradition requires.

The twists and turns, the ending literally left me speechless and I never expected it.
Don't worry, the novel doesn't end with a cliffhanger! You can read it.

The prince'a bride is a very fluid, ironic and thoughtful book. It's the first novel I've read from the author and I'm really looking forward to reading the second one.

By the way, this cover would look good for a movie poster... could it ever land on Passionflix? I really hope so, because I would love it!

I have been a fan of J.J. McAvoy since her first series Ruthless People released, and every time she announces a new book I tend to pretty much stalk her to hear what I can about said book. So when she released The Prince’s Bride I was all over it like white on rice before I could even read the description.

As you would’ve seen from the cover and read in the description this book is about a spoiled playboy prince “Gale” whose family is in desperate need of money, and American heiress "Odette Wyntor" who can give said playboy prince the money his family desperately needs, so you guessed it, arranged marriage.

Now you may be thinking that this is a typical fairytale romance, and I have read this story line so may times, so therefore I have read them all. However what I have learned from experience with J.J. McAvoy's writhing is that no matter the genre is, you have not read anything like it.

You go in knowing that these characters are just made up and that the situations aren’t real. But this did not stop me from believing the realism of Gale and Odette and their romance.

These two persons who have grown up in a life of privilege but yet come from different worlds, it’s exciting to read them navigate the situation they are put in and to fight for what they both individually want and what their families want for them. There will be moments that will have you laughing with them or there will be the ones where you are sad/angry on their behalf. These are just to name a few.

In the beginning J.J. McAvoy said it would be a slow burn, but it didn’t seem that way, I enjoyed watching these two characters chemistry build and that J.J. took the time to do so, because when reading I forgot that it was a slow burn romance because the journey between them just flowed. The only regret I have now is not having the second book to read, I can’t wait to see what comes next...

This was so incredibly cute, witty and flat out fun that I couldn’t stop reading it!

I absolutely loved everything about every one of these characters. Gale and Odette were so good together. Their banter kept me smiling and laughing until my cheeks hurt. Gale and his non-normal ways of looking at the world and the way to date was just too cute. Add in the additional repartee he had with his employees and they with each other and I swear this healed all the broken places the past few months have left me with. And then...a cliffhanger!!!

Yep, I didn’t have a clue that’s how this was going to end and while I normally stay as far away as possible from them, this book is still worth every bit of torture this author is putting me through in waiting for the next book.

I suspect we’ll have a lot more angst going forward as well as a lot of heat. Although at this point, everything has moved slowly in the physical relationship between Odette and Gale and to be honest, I never felt any real chemistry between them. What I did feel though was a great relationship being built and I can’t wait to see what the future is going to hold for this couple. I suspect Ms. McAvoy is going to let it all hang out with the next installment.

Mind the cliff!! A fantastic part one to this two-part romance. I would recommend this one to anyone obsessed with royalty, like myself!

Oooh, I really liked this one. Gale is truly swoon worthy and odette is a really good heroine. It ends with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next one. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an e-arc of this book.

I absolutely fell in love with Gale and Odette and their relationship. This book is witty and charming with funny and swoon worthy dialogues. There were many moments that made me laugh out loud. Gale is absolutely adorable and thoughtful - he always knows the right thing to say. I also adored the supporting characters - they added more fun and humor to the story.

The ending of the book was totally unexpected and took me by surprise! I was absolutely heartbroken! But it also left me wanting more, which is why I can't wait for the next installment!

I can totally see this book becoming a perfect hallmark movie! It has all the right elements for it!

Five stars for me!
I received an ARC of this book yesterday then immediately read it. I love the story and can’t wait til part 2 comes out on November. This is different from JJ’s other books but I still love it, well I always love whatever JJ is writing cause she is sooo good. She is one of the best authors for me. The story is a bit slow burn but she did say it was a bit of a slow burn. It has romance, humor, suspense and drama. Can’t wait to know what happens in part 2
