I may be biased because I am a nurse but I felt that this book is a great basic introduction into the profession. I loved how it talked about the basics of what nurses do. It talked about going to school to learn to take care of patient which I thought was important. I loved how it talked about nurses loving to care for people. Overall this book would be great when talking to kids about career choices. There are defiantly all colors and genders represented. I would have liked to see more males nurses.

Hooray for Nurses! by Elle Parkes is a short and informative nonfiction book for young children about nurses. All of the information In this short book was informative for young children. I enjoyed the narration and think children will too.

The audio version of this book is too short. I was somehow expecting around 5 minutes or even a decent introduction before the main content.

A short and sweet non fiction about nurses. This is a great introduction to what a nurse does for young children. The narrator is good and the pace was perfect.

Thank you to netgalley, Elle Parks and Lerner Audiobooks for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I found the text of the audiobook on an app for an e-resource vendor, through a public library. The narration goes along well with the text. The voice uses an upbeat tone and good pronunciation. A longer pause after the questions might be helpful. This narration would definitely be useful as part of a read-along option,
with the printed word for some readers.

Nurses for Very Young Children

This is a review for the audiobook, not the physical book. I am a nurse, so I was curious what a children's book about the nursing profession would be like when I saw it at one of my favorite book review sites. This is definitely a book that I think needs to be read from the physical book, not an audiobook, as the words clearly describe a picture that would be helpful for the child to see. I would imagine this book is meant for very young children because not much detail is given, and many things are said in absolutes that don't quite accurately reflect the nursing profession. I definitely think that one of the workplaces mentioned should have been a clinic—only hospitals and schools were mentioned as nurse workplaces. A child is most apt to see a nurse at a clinic, either assisting during a doctor’s visit or as a nurse practitioner. After listening to the audiobook, I am curious about what the physical book looks like. And, by the way, scrubs don't protect from germs. They're relatively comfortable clothes that are easy to bend and stretch in, as nurses do often during a shift!
