I found this book difficult to read, a little confusing and slow, definitely not a thriller. Tara’s past haunts her, physiological damage caused by her bizarre power seeking, abusive parents. Now her twin sister Sophie has been missing, following a fire that leaves Tara scarred physically and emotionally. She feels lost without Sophie, ad if a part of her is missing.
In her search for Sophie she is drawn into a world where she meets men who use money, sex and drugs for their own purposes.
The story does begin to make sense about halfway through and a few times picked up pace, then dwindled out again.
There are lots of big topics, child abuse, rape, personality disorder, but I felt they didn’t all come together, jumbled about making the story difficult to follow.

The first thoughts I can put together after reading this book are that it is a difficult, although very rewarding book to read. There are some really unpleasant characters in this book that do unspeakable things. Sadly, nasty characters are sometimes needed to move to a place of growth. If you read this book and find yourself repelled by the nature of the story, try to stick with it because all the crazy melds together for reasons in the end.

A riveting thriller. I really enjoyed it. It begins with Sophie disappearing and her twin, Tara, desperately determines to find her. She searches through some of the worst, dangerous, parts in New York City. Tara, it seems, really needs her sister, Sophie, who is the only one who understands the terrible childhood they both survived. Tara finds herself only able to cope with the help of her psychotherapist. Although some people might guess where the storyline goes, I'll admit that I did, it is engaging and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book.

Until We Are Lost is a psychological mystery centered around twins Tara and Sophie. Tara, a young woman in New York City with a complicated past, is searching for her twin sister Sophie. Sophie has left clues along the way that led Tara to New York. Meeting with a psychotherapist to help Tara deal with her traumatic childhood helps Tara navigate her life in New York-barely. Told with flashbacks and alternating timelines and perspectives there is a lot to unpack-from parents who exploited Tara and her sister to running away to California and seeking refuge in dangerous arms-the reader has to carefully observe the different view points to understand the story. It was a longer read with twists and turns but the ending seemed rushed and the characters pretty unlikeable (however the reader will definitely want to know how it ends); there are also some trigger points with abuse and violence.

The synopsis of this book sounded intriguing to me so I requested a copy to read.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during that 2nd attempt, I have only managed to make it halfway through so I'd rather stop here and state that this book just wasn't for me.
I wish the author, publisher and all those promoting the book much success and connections with the right readers.

This book shows the bonds of family and how you will go to the ends of the earth and even the darkest of alleys to find truth to save them. This is a chilling suspense novel that will take up your entire afternoon because you won’t want to put it down.

I really enjoyed this story by Leslie Archer. I will say that the content at time could be a little much for some readers. Trigger warning: rape and molestation. I don't think the story will be for everyone (especially if you're looking for more of a fast-paced thriller). That said, if you're looking for something over a cozy winter weekend, this works. Just be prepared for heavier topics than your typical murder mystery.

Family dysfunction, lies, secrets, abuse: this story has it all. This is a twisted tale of a woman who is seeking her twin sister after she vanished. It is a very disturbing and intense read.

First let me say that this is my first book by this author. I read at the very end that she's the bestselling author of more than twenty-five novels yet I could only find one more. It sounds like it may be a good one. This one was a bit disappointing to me. It certainly had great potential though. I don't know what happened but it sure fell short.

Tara/Sophie are twins. Tara can't find Sophie. I figured out what happened to Sophie very quickly. Or who she was. It is told in the first part of this story so not a spoiler. The things that go on in this book are just a mess. From abuse, almost raped, possibly raped, molested by a parent, being used by the other parent, there is just way too much going on. It fell short for sure. If it would have been possibly two books/sequels, it may have been easier to read. Not that I had a hard time keeping up but that it was just too much. For one child, teen, adult, it was too much. No wonder she had issues.

I could not connect with the characters in this book at all. The fact that Tara was asked to do "whatever it takes" to get info from a man who almost raped her was unbelievable. That would not have happened. No way. She would have said no even if Sophie did have her back. I did not find that believable at all. There were many things in this book that were great but the ones that weren't was way bad. I'm sorry but it was beyond my capacity to believe parts.

This book did have such potential. I hate that it was just not that good. Others may love it. You may think it's one of the best ever. For me it was just ok. I'm shocked too. I wanted so bad to love this book. There was just nothing to hold me to it and I found myself skimming past some parts. I should have just chalked it up as a DNF but I felt the obligation to read the rest. The first part was slow but I really enjoyed the second part and the last two parts. They were all full of thrills and chills. A lot going on that will keep you on the edge in many ways. But the rest was not so great.

2.5-3/5 stars and I will say read for yourself and decide if you like it or not. We each see things differently and what is not so good for me may be great for you.

Now this is a whirlwind novel. At times I felt like there was too much going on but that’s seems fitting with the main character, Tara. I loved the writing and the characters. M is a friend I wish we all had. Tara is so disgustingly enjoyable to take this adventure with. Some subject matter made me uncomfortable but that makes for a good book. It’s definitely not going to for everyone but for me it was an awesome story to be apart of.

I found this book to be a slow starter for me, but I hung in there because the summary sounded interesting. But the farther I got into it I found it just didn’t hold my interest for some reason. I also wasn’t in the mood for another truly disturbing childhood as I’ve read several of those stories lately. Maybe another time? This one just wasn’t for me.

I'd been excited for this one but after the first chapter, I become confused and having to reread parts but still not clear on what was happening. I think part of the problem for me is I'm not a biggesr fan of ebooks and having to keep rereading sections on my phone just made it that much more annoying.

The jumps in timelines and perspective didn't work for me. Neither did the slowness. It was just jumbled and nothing hooked me enough. The premise seemed great and I was excited from drama and thrills but there wasn't much of it so I decided to give up.

The cover of this book is beautiful.
The characters are well-developed and easy to relate to at times.
The storyline was interesting and easy to follow.
There was some pretty intense twists that I did NOT see coming, that's for sure.


I'd definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.

Until We Are Lost by Leslie Archer is a novel that follows Tara after her sister, Sophie, goes missing. Sophie and Tara are incredibly close leading Tara to be pulled to New York City to pursue a desperate search for Sophie. However her traumatic past influences her pursuit and with only limited support from a therapist, Tara's reality becomes blurred in her dangerous investigation.

This was a winding novel with many twists and turns and a psychological element. At times it can be hard to follow due to the jumps in timeline and perspectives. However the reader is able to piece these various chapters before the ending to see where it is going. The pacing changed frequently with it alternating between compulsively readable to slower sections. The writing is mesmerizing which makes it a quick read. The tone of the book is definitely a heavier and dark due to Sophie's trauma and other plot elements. This will definitely make you uncomfortable especially since it has many content warnings such as trauma, rape, sexual and physical abuse, and drug abuse.

This was a dark and disturbing read where the story takes a number of twists and turns and the impact of a dysfunctional childhood leads to more dangerous situations.
The story follows Tara and Sophie, twins who are dual narrators . When Sophie goes missing Tara moves to New York to try and find her. This leads her into unchartered and dark waters and incidents happen which bring memories and emotions from her childhood to the fore.
An excellent plot, there is guilt, secrets and lies I really enjoyed this one.

This is one of those books I would rather have classed as a DNF, and only read through to the bitter end because I had been granted an ARC. Not a thriller, but a twisty psychological tale that should come with several trigger warnings, this was a jumble of a story with lots of jumps in time and person, making it difficult to follow the plot, let alone keep track of all the threads the author tried to weave into her story. I found it an unsatisfying read due to the myriad of subplots, none of which were full fleshed out, and the confusing nature of the timeline and characters.

The story follows Tara on a journey to find Sophie.
It explains her disturbing childhood whist she searches for her sister Sophie.

I can’t really explain why I didn’t love this book but I didn’t hate it either.

Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. I found the characters and time switches very confusing, which took away from the suspense and enjoyment. The writing was a bit too flowery for my liking. I’m sure this book will be great for some but unfortunately not for me.

this is a beautifully written book, deep, disturbing, humorous with characters you care about. while parts of the story were far fetched, it didn't really matter as i followed the story of Tara and Sophie
