I wanted to enjoy this graphic novel but it was just to hard to get into. I was not able to even finish it.

Most of the jokes were a very immature and I don't think I was the target audience.

I wanted to love this but I just was not a fan of the story. The artwork was beautiful and I loved that, but the story itself just didn’t pull me in and it just didn’t feel like my kind of story. 3 stars for the artwork, but eh.

I picked up this book because of the cover and its attachment to Dan Fogler's name, Fantastic Beasts's Jacob Kowalski. Moon lake is a horror story anthology which centers around, you guessed it, Moon lake! Even though I knew this was horror, I was not expecting it to be so gory and vulgar (possibly because Fantastic Beasts is mentioned in the blurb). I enjoyed the different art styles but could not get into the stories because some were too disturbing for me. It's not bad but I guess it is just not my cup of tea!

This ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange of an honest review.

This was WILD! Over all I enjoyed it. Do I think this is for everyone? No. For me it was a nice mix of horror comedy. I liked some of the stories more than others and there were a couple stories I really didn't care for. It is by all means not a serious collection of stories. Every story had amazing artwork. Every story was over the top and out there. There was serious gore in some of the stories. Ultimately this is a parody collection. There is a lot of nudity and mature content in it. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I would recommend it to friends of mine that I know would be into the content

Terrible, just terrible. This is apparently meant to be a fun parody of stuff like Tales From the Crypt or Alfred Hitchcock Presents, but the stories are just plain dumb and the stuff tying it all together (a farting moon man? what the what?) is even worse. I can't imagine how this ever got made in the first place.

A bone chilling graphic novel as well as a light read.
I love the art in this one, but the story could have been a little bit more elaborate.
Still enjoyed it a ton though!

I love the cover. Without a doubt, it was Moon Lake's cover that attracted me first.

As I turn the first few pages, I was a little surprised by the style of the illustrations. I think I was expecting a darker and more macabre style, but illustrations were reminiscent of the 70s. Don't get me wrong! They are beautiful and inviting. Then I noticed that there were more than one illustrators. The book was divided into many short stories. And as I turned the pages I understood that it was designed in a way that reflected the spirit of a 60-70s TV show, like the Twilight Zone.

The common point between the stories that have different writers and illustrators is that they all happen around the Moon Lake. The humor, the stories and the illustrations were hit and miss for me. Some good ones such as His Final Escape and some not so good. All in all, I didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would.

And, as usual, the Adobe Digital Editions reading experience is very poor.

An odd collection of stories centered around Moon Lake.

There was one, maybe one and half, stories in here that I liked. Overall it was pretty bad. So immature it could have been written by a 12 year old. Look, I love sasquatchs, were bears, zombies, and gore, but there are only so many fart and sex jokes I can take...

Moon Lake is a horror graphic novel with interesting stories and artwork. I liked some of the stories more than others. It's a good mix of horror and humor. You have to read the entire book to understand the plot. The graphic novel is more meant for adults.

I enjoyed some stories more than others, but I really like the idea of a graphic novel anthology. This was so fun and I loved the art.

I was provided with an advance copy of this graphic novel through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a fan of Dan Fogler’s acting, particularly his roles as Jacob Kowalski in the Fantastic Beasts series, and Luke in The Walking Dead. In the introduction of this graphic novel, Fogler describes it as Alfred Hitchcock Presents on acid. I’m not usually this blunt in my reviews, but I think this book would be more accurately described as a cheap knockoff of Mad magazine on acid.

Most of the vignettes presented have no real point, seeming to exist only as a vehicle for nonsensical sex and graphic violence. The ‘narrator’ who ties the vignettes was disgusting and his attempts at humor fell short of the mark. There was one segment that did come off as well done, where a young girl kicked out of her tribe returns to save them from a supernatural horror.

I gave Moon Lake two stars – the one segment I liked saved it from a one star rating. I had hoped for better from Fogler.

This book needed some big content warnings. The premise sounds like scifi and horror awesomeness with the classic comic book illustrations we all love, but...Well, I liked the illustrations...? And nothing else.

To be clear, I only made it through the first quarter of the book. The intro was great, then the story started, and I was confused about what was happening from page 3ish onwards. It jumps around and makes very little sense. Then suddenly every other word is F***, there's a ton of nudity, sex, and anal rape. What?!?! I flipped through a few more pages, but the weird, sexually graphic nonsense continued. The little humor I saw in this was slip stick and annoying, not funny.

I never would have picked this up had I known it was so sexually explicit and crude. So my content warnings at least for the very beginning of this book include: anal rape, animal/human rape, sex, nudity, explicit language, crude humor

Briefly amusing for a summer afternoon's read, with occasional moments of visual brilliance, this book mostly feels like a cobbled together collection of disparate stories loosely joined by a slapdash and largely uninteresting framing device.
The writing is mostly average, with the kind of stories that are churned out by people who have the aspiration, but not the skill, to be EC or Warren writers. Occasionally amusing, serviceable but largely uninspired.
Visually, there are some good moments, but overall, the cover is the best piece of art in this book. Sadly, the rest of the book does not live up to its promise; most of the art looks like bargain basement work for hire and ersatz versions of better artists.
I would recommend this for a quick glance in the shop or a late night read when there's nothing good on TV, but otherwise, I'm sorry to say that there's nothing really enjoyable about this book.

I received a e-arc of Moon Lake in exchange for an honest review.

I really don't even know what to say about this comic... It's not that long but I found it really hard to even read it. The dialogue was pretty damn bad, it was really immature but really adult at the same time so it was just so disconnected at kept taking me out of the story. There was some pretty good art some better then others same and the same goes for the actual stories, it was just the writing I was really just not a fan.

This is for a very specific type of person. That person is not me.
If you like crude humor, you will love this. This is "Freaky Stories" meets "American Pie".
I enjoyed one or two of the stories but overall I had a really hard time getting through it. The narrator was incredibly juvenile.
I don't really understand who the audience is for this. It feels young and silly but the graphic sexual nature makes it too mature for a young audience.
Not a fan.

I really don’t like giving one-star reviews, because I take no pleasure in a book that failed to launch. The art is the best part of this book, but it’s not enough to make up for all the missteps. I think it was intended to be a Tales from the Crypt or Creepshow type horror anthology comic, and in terms of art, it succeeded more than it didn’t. However, the writing is bad. Really, really bad. There’s farting, dinosaurs, crude sex jokes, nudity, gross-outs and gore galore, but there’s no plot. Like, at ALL. Ultimately, I found myself just flipping through the pages wishing for it to be over. Again, I really hate leaving a 1-star review — especially when in theory, it had all the ingredients to make a great anthology. But bad writing is bad writing, & I wouldn’t want someone who paid money for this to be as disappointed as I was.

I loved the title, the cover and when i seen Dan Fogler i was like um yes, then i started reading it and started wondering what on earth did i stumble across, there were some areas where i loved the art work but the story line really pulled me off of it.

Absolutely not a fan. Way too much going on with no real storyline. This had the potential to be great but it was a miss for me. If the illustrations were even remotely intriguing then this could've been redeemable, even those were a bust.

I was expecting a homage to b-movie horror films and the first story started off that way, but the rest was just ridiculous and not in a good way. Most of the art was also not to my personal taste.

I did like the story about the cheerleader who went mad but each story only lasts around 15 pages so it was over quickly.

Also uses the disabled slur that starts with R and that's just unnecessary.

I did not like this at all. The artwork was strange along with the stories. I didn't finish reading it.
