I really loved this cosy Christmas romance. It contains everything you hope in a book of this genre. Jo is a consistantley good writer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere, the characters, the sheer christmassyness of it. Loved it.

Jo Thomas is back again with another charming feel-good, festively magical and utterly heartwarming story of finding love in the most unexpected places - this time a magical Christmas Market!

Honestly, this is the absolute dream, I loved every moment, every magical glitter-infused page it's joyful and oh, so romantic. I have loved every Jo Thomas book I have read but this one is easily my favourite of them all.

I adored the setting and the setting but it was the wonderful and eclectic cast of characters that really stole the show, each one sparkles warmth and humour over the entire story.

Loved it!!

Finding Love at the Christmas Market
By Jo Thomas

Connie who is a caterer for an assisted living housing and is talked into taking a minibus full of senior citizens to Germany to the Christmas market and to spread the ashes of one of the residents.
A well written heartwarming book featuring lovely characters and Connie trying to find romance . A lovely cosy up on the sofa read on a winter day.

This book was a riot of laughter and fun. Who wouldn't take a busload of pensioners on a blind date in a foreign country? Okay, so the pensioners are actually there to spread the ashes of one of their most beloved residents in Germany, meanwhile, caterer Connie is heading off to meet Henrich, a fellow baker and someone who seems to tick all her boxes on her dating checklist. A checklist might sound extreme for dating but Connie has been hurt in the past and taken in by less-than-honest online dating partners so she's cautious.

William however ticks virtually no boxes on Connie's list yet she finds herself spending time with him too and liking him more and more. What's a girl to do?

I had a feeling where the story was going, the author definitely leaned more towards one baker than the other so the final coming together was not unexpected. However, I loved the Christmas bake-off competition between the two men and how that came to pass. Connie was a likeable character, cautious but very kind and caring when it came to her friends and how she helped them all achieve a Christmas wish each, helping them accept the change of lifestyle being in a residential home brought.

Also, I loved the setting of the Christmas market. I have read many of Jo Thomas' books and she has a wonderful way of describing the places so vividly that you just want to be there or even feel like you're already there. You can almost feel the nip of the frost, smell the freshly baked gingerbread and warming hot chocolate and hear the happy hubbub of the market stall owners and customers as they prepare for Christmas. It was perfect for getting me in the mood for the festive season.

A really cosy feel-good chuckle-fest romance.

I adore Thomas' writing & this one was no exception!
Do have some gingerbread & hot chocolate close to you when you read. Because the descriptions of the Christmas market are so scrumptious you'll certainly need some.

Connie ventures to Germany with a busload of her friends that lives in the residential home she works for. She has a date with a man she met online and who ticks all of her boxes for the perfect mate. But is he the right one? A fun and festive read, you can almost smell and taste the air in the beautiful German Christmas markets. This will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit!

If you know my reading taste you probably know that Jo Thomas is one of my favourite writers. Ever since I discovered her books my bookish life is somehow... richer.

Finding Love at the Christmas Market served it's purpose and made my life little bit more beautiful at time, and it also made me crave for speculaas and hot chocolate (even though our characters enjoyed gingerbread and hot wine).

Between the beautiful covers there is a Christmas fairytale that reminds of Hallmark movies.

What the author did best the time was how she created the perfect Christmas atmosphere that really transferred me as a reader there, to Christmas Market in Germany (and I still don't know where exactly the book takes place, and I don't know if the author never mentioned it or I just failed to realize) but it also made me reminisce about my Christmas spent in Budapest (which is my favourite city in the world, in case you didn't know).

Although the story was good and the writing was simply amazing, I somehow didn't connect with characters.

I could feel the chemistry between our main character Connie and the one she ended up with, but all the side characters, I just didn't care about, and for some that were important to Connie, I couldn't care less for.
I am sorry because of that, because I know it would make my reading experience so much better.

Overall, I enjoyed this Christmas story and I am looking forward to read Jo Thomas' other books I am behind with.

This book was OK. I get off to a bad start with the ableism. Constantly hammering home the point that Maeve was in a wheelchair, and not only that she was stuck in the chair so this made me want to give itba 1 star.

However the descriptions of Germany and the markets warmed my heart so I bumped it up a little

I struggled a little to get into this book to begin with, but after the first boule of chapters I thoroughly enjoyed the company of all the main characters.
A sprinkle of festive magic to warm chilly winter days, a lovely book to read in the run-up to Christmas or anytime over the winter months.

A very easy to read romance with the added magic of Christmas. Warm characters and it's nice to read a book about older generations and the importance of tradition. Really enjoyed it. A very heart warming read.

This was a real feel good Christmassy read, but also good to read in a cold lockdown January! The book had a large cast of memorable characters, was easy to read, great locations and a great story.
A great cosy read that I would recommend

I really enjoyed this feel good Christmas novel. The characters were great and so likeable. I really could smell and taste the gingerbread and hot chocolate.

Written in such a great way that makes you connect with the characters and story from the start. Finding love at the Christmas Market is definitely definitely a book I will read again at Christmas whilst baking gingerbread.

The perfect cosy Christmas story to snuggle up with (especially this Christmas, when we all needed some festive cheer).

I have read a couple of Jo Thomas's books already and I know that I'm going to get all the feels: a cast of memorable characters and ahappy ending. What's not to love. This one's got all of that, wrapped up (pardon the pun) in the story of Connie taking a minibus of older people who live together in sheltered housing taking their dead neighbour's ashes back to Germany, and also to meet the potential boyfriend she's been corresponding with over the Internet.

It's a tale of two towns, two bakeries and ultimately two men that Connie must choose between. Settle down on a weekend, with some lebkuchen (recipe included at the end of the book) and a hot spiced chocolate (recipe also included) to enjoy this warm duvet of a book.
