Loved this book, it drew me in the moment i started it. Connie was all for trusting her lists but ended up throwing them away.

This was my first Jo Thomas book, and unfortunately I can't say I loved it. Ii wasn't bad, but also not one I'll be rushing out to recommend. It's hard to say exactly what I didn't like, as it was more perhaps "not my cup of tea".

I liked the setting, and the inclusion of cakes and baking is always welcomed. Some of the characters were also quite funny, as old people often are. Overall though I just found it a bit dull, and wasn't really captured my the Christmas magic as I hoped I would be

Though it is very early to say this yet, I think this might be my favourite Christmas novel of 2020! It had everything I love in novels like this. Cute and charming German Christmas Market, a fantastic heroine and a brilliant story. I recommend this with a full festive heart!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Another fabulous book from Jo.

Reading this book I felt I was there at the German market with Connie and her friends. Doing all the things they were.

Connie, along with her pensioner friends, is on her way to meet her online date, with her book, including her list of things to tick off that her date should be like. But, even with a tick list, things can go wrong.

Sometimes what starts as friendship, can bring unexpected results.

Will Connie listen to her heart or head????

I would thoroughly recommend, it really gets you into the festive Spirit.

Connie is looking for love. On a trip to a German Christmas market. In the company of a group of pensioners she delivers ready meals to (and her own baking!). An unlikely combination, but one which I loved!

Perfect Christmas read.

A lovely story of remembering an old women's final wishes, an exciting adventure to Germany especially for a group of residents at the retirement village and finding love where you didn't see it before. Plus returning to a place full of memories of a love that is thought to have been lost but really it was only hidden

For me, Jo Thomas has done it again! A lovely story full of wisdom and empathy. Plus wonderful descriptions of a German Christmas market, so vivid it is almost like being there with the smell of gingerbread and gluhwein and snowflakes falling. Connie takes a mini bus full of pensioners to the market with an urn full of their friend’s ashes to scatter in her home town. At the same time one of the pensioners has set her up with a date - someone Connie has met on an online dating app. Everything looks perfect, but as usual real life gets in the way. This is such a warm hearted book, a fabulous read as you follow Connie’s progress. Will head or heart prevail? The pensioners are real characters in their own right as you get involved with them all. I loved it. I can thoroughly recommend this as a story that stays with you, full of Christmas sparkle.

Wow another fantastically brilliant read from jo!
Jo has that unique ability to instantly transport you to the destination of the book.Germany and the wonderful Christmas markets are described in such detail you can imagine yourself there in a Christmas jumper, amongst the gingerbread scented air, watching the revellers socialising and ice skating with Christmas tunes from the choir resonating in the air! Connie accompanied by her pensioner friends is in a mission to meet her online date armed with her trusty list! However the path of true love never runs smoothly even with a list! The most unlikely of friendships can spring up when least expected if you just open yourself up to the unexpected and forget your list!
A great Christmassy read that I would thoroughly recommend to all really gets you into the festive spirit!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

A fab christmas read!

Connie is on a road trip to Germany, with a minibus of pensioners. They are going to scatter Elsie's ashes, but also Connie will be going on a date with Heinrich when she is there.
She has been hurt before, but is encouraged to give online dating another go. He seems perfect, but then she meets William, who isn't what she was looking for. Who will she choose?
