I liked the illustrations in this book, but the story didn't really do much for me. It was only okay for me.

Ohh I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, sweet, warm, cosy, fluffy, beautifully illustrated. I read this with my two children who are 4 and 6 years old and they both enjoyed it too. Would recommend!

A book about winter and snowmen, a mother child adventure. It was a sweet little story set in a winter wonderland, but personally I found it a tad bit boring and I am sure the little ones would agree. The stories does not really entertain and the illustrations don't really bring anything to the story. I really wanted to enjoy this, but it was too simple and dull.

A wonderful addition to any children's bookshelf. This was a sweet story that I'm sure many children could relate to. After going out to play in the snow, Rupert has to leave the snowman he has built when it's time to go home. Upset at leaving the snowman behind, he and his mum come up with a plan.
This would be an ideal addition to any topic book box about seasons to help children recognise some of the features of winter.

I received an eARC of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet, quiet winter story. Rupert and his mother go out to play in the snow, and make a snowman at the top of a hill. The snowman watches over them while they have snowball fights, make snow angels, and sled down the hill. Soon it's time to go home, however, and Rupert doesn't want to leave the snowman all alone. He comes up with an idea- he and his mother dismantle the snowman, bring him down the hill, and rebuild him in their front yard, along with a snowwoman, a snowdog, and two snowkittens for company. The artwork compliments the story well, with a softness that adds to the snowy feel.

This was a sweet little story about a boy and his mom having fun on a snow day. Rupert makes a snowman named Frosty and has fun playing with him. But at the end of the day what will Rupert do when he has to leave Frosty behind?

I thought that this was a cute little story. I wanted more out of it though. I feel like it was kind of half-hearted. And Frosty is such a generic name for a snowman and immediately makes me think of Frosty the Snowman. This was a cute story but was a little bland.

Who wouldn’t love reading this book with this little one?! It is cute, fun and filled with wintery joy. The adventure they have together, throughout the book, is very well written and fun for our daughter to follow along. We recommend this book fully!

Rupert's Snowman is a beautifully illustrated winter story about a mother and son’s day of adventure in the snow. They spend the snowy day making snow angels and a snowman, and have a snowball fight. At the end of the day, Rupert brings the snowman home to be close so that he’s not alone. This is the perfect book to snuggle up with on a snowy day and to remember the magic of winter in the snow. Thanks to NetGalley, Phillipa Warden and Purple Butterfly Press for an advanced copy of the book.

Rupert's Snowman is the perfect read for sitting by the fire at Christmas with a hot chocolate and escaping into the snowy outdoors via the imagination of a story.
I really enjoyed this book and think it would be perfect for younger readers. I can just imagine wrapping myself up in scarfs to go outside and play.
The drawings are beautifully done and perfectly match the feel good fun of the story.
This is a book I could see children reading again and again in the winter,

A wonderful picture book for the christmas and winter season. It is a delightful story about Rupert and his mom. They have a lovely day in the snow, doing snowball fights, snow angels, sledging and building a snowman. I liked the relationship between Rupert and his mother and the story reminded me of Raymond briggs the snowman. My all-time favorite snow picture book.
I recommend it to anyone who is dreaming about Christmas already with the message of this book: Nobody should be alone on Christmas Eve. Have a lovely Christmas with your family.

I absolutely loved this children’s book. Something about the illustrations clicked with me, making me long for the coziness of winter! I truly thought the drawings were lovely, and the story is just as fine. Recommended!

In gorgeous illustrations and beautifully simple prose, Phillipa Warden recreates every child’s (and adult’s!) winter dreamland, complete with gingersnaps and hot chocolate; a classic in the making – I want to live it! This is a book to enjoy snuggling up with, and a book that will enhance the fun and wonder when our children wake up to find that outside the window there is snow of their own. A perfect book for the Christmas season!

This is a beautifully illustrated winter story. I loved the art style and how the words were often woven into the illustrations. I've been looking for some winter-themed picture books and this is perfect!

Super cute, well-illustrated book about the snowman Rupert builds while sledding and then manages to haul back home with him to he can keep him close.

A Snow Day

This is a fun little story of Rupert enjoying a day in the snow making snow angels, a snowman, and even a snow family with pets. I thought the illustrator did a good job showing snowfall, but I thought much of the rest of the illustrations seemed a little crude. The ones that worked best had the most snow falling. Sometimes, I found the text hard to read against the background. There was one consistency error with the illustrations. Just after Rupert had made the snowman and put his hot chocolate mug on top of his head for a hat, the next page shows the snowman watching them make snow angels but without his cocoa mug hat. I did receive an ARC copy of this book, so hopefully, this was caught and corrected before publication. It takes place too late in the story to be seen at the Look Inside preview at Amazon. By the way, for my fellow Americans, this book uses British terminology, like using the word “sledge” for “sled” and “Father Christmas” for “Santa Claus.” If you're looking for a book about wintertime fun and anticipating Christmas, you and your family might enjoy this book.

I loved this and can imagine children's delight with reading this as they picture themselves making snowmen. It's a lovely story of Rupert and his mum spending the morning together just before Christmas.
The illustrations are lovely and tell the story well.

This book made me feel excited for the winter time. It is a children's book about a boy called Rupert and his Mum, who go outside in the snow to have fun and make a snowman. Rupert doesn't want to leave his snowman behind so he comes up with a plan to have it closer to him when he is back at his house. My daughter loved this book and it made her want to play in the snow too. It is a good book to remind us how to play with our inner child and feel the magic of winter time.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

A snow day is a most rare and magical experience for a child. A flurry of beautiful illustrations perfectly capture the awe and wonder of drawing back the curtains and seeing the landscape transformed under a blanket of snow, wrapping up in hats, gloves and scarves, sledging and making snow angels.

Rupert and his mum get bundled up in their warm, woolly hats and scarves and set out with their sledge in search of the perfect snowy day. They build a snowman, collecting sticks from the hedgerow for his arms and stones for his eyes, nose and buttons. Rather ingeniously, Rupert uses the mug from the thermos flask as a hat and the left over hot chocolate trickles down the snowman's head to look like hair.

But when it's time to go home, Rupert is sad to leave his snowman all alone in the field. Unable to bear her little boy being upset on Christmas Eve, his mum helps Rupert to carefully dismantle the snowman and transport him back home on the sledge so he can be reassembled in the garden. Together, they make a little snow family to keep him company.

As a parent, a snow day is a day for making treasured memories and sharing the experience of building a snowman with your child is one to cherish - snow on Christmas Eve would be extra special! Rupert's Snowman is a wonderful addition to the seasonal picture book collection for toddlers and preschoolers and would be perfect in a Christmas Eve box.

I really hope we are blessed with a snow day this winter, although with schools all set up for online learning, children might be logging onto Zoom or Google Classroom instead of sledging! (I really hope not!)

With thanks to NetGalley and Kat Biggie Press for providing me with a copy to review in advance of publication.

Rupert's Snowman is a delightful children's book set in the wonderful wintertime.

This story follows Rupert and his Mum making a snowman in the beautiful winter weather. The snow is good for packing, and their snowman is delightful! Plus, a cup of hot cocoa finishes off the day in the best fashion!

This book feels so childlike and welcoming with it's fun font and winter themed hues. Add in the classic illustrations and amusing placement of the words and you've got yourself one excellent picture book. It's a great picture book to cozy around the fireplace with and get in the Holiday spirit!

Three out of five stars.

This is a cute book with wonderful illustrations. They are darker instead of lighter, so it gives the book a nice winter feel. I really like how the words make shapes as they put scarves on and make a snowman.
