It is a horror novel.his and is the second novel to the author’s first book “Perfect Prophet.”
I did not read the 1st book, but I couls catch the story very quickly.

It is a book about taking responsibilities, spiritual journeys, and understanding of what adult life entails. There are unexpected twists and turns throughout the story. It was sad to see how difficult their life was but at the same time the hope that was there even when they could not see it.
Netgalley once again thank you very much for providing this book.

I love religious horror, and this was a great read! Characters were interesting and I found myself rooting for them, and nice and easy to get lost in prose

Alec and Lucas are brothers. They are estranged. Lucas had become a member of a satanic group who believes his brother’s death is necessary to call up the devil. However things went wrong when the satanic group tried to do the ritual. Alec dies but come back to life. He heals his brother’s hand before he leaves. When Lucas wakes up he is amazed to see his hand “normal.” Alec doesn’t like having healing powers. He ends up joining Reverend Joshua Light’s commune. He is talked into joining Reverend Light’s Healing Tour. He hates doing it but does it anyway. Lucas tries to find peace. He ends up at Reverend Jonas Adonis’ cult-like commune. He isn’t successful but is told that he needs to save someone. Will Lucas be able to do that? Meanwhile Alec is crushed by his responsibilities including his son. Will Alec be able to resolve his feelings of being a “loser?”

A Prophet Rejected

"Evil wasn’t some demon led by Satan. Good wasn’t some gift handed down from God. All of it was people who were scared of what might be."

What a great quote. What happens to the central characters made me think deeply beyond the horror of it all to how we each make choices that allow shades of good and evil within us to inevitably lead us to our fates.

I recommend reading Perfect Prophet first. The character development carried through from the first book and I cared very much about Alec, Cleo, Jake, and Lindy, and even Lucas from the beginning. The supporting characters were equally vivid, although many were either confused or actively villainous. Maggie and Saint are welcome additions to the cast.

Essentially the books in this series are about: misguided people believing they're appointed by God to do his will, yet mostly doing evil to the innocent; and misguided people believing they're evil and unacceptable to God yet often doing good.

And they all revolve around their unwilling, disbelieving Messiah, wanting him, using him, abusing him, and seeking to crucify him.

I really love both books. Prophet Reborn took me to unexpected places, and the climax is chilling. I can't wait to read a third book and hope there will be one soon!

Thank you, Diane M Johnson, for an original, thought-provoking horror series. Thank you, NetGalley, for the gift of this advance review copy. This is my enthusiastic and genuine review of an exceptional book.

When I read Perfect Prophet last year, I kept hoping there would be a sequel. The book had left off perfectly for a sequel and while I had a feeling there would be one, I wasn’t positive. I was glad I was right.

Prophet Reborn picks up a bit after Perfect Prophet leaves off and this time, the book focuses more on Lucas, who wants to see if he can be redeemed for the things he’s done in his past. He has a pretty good idea that he can’t but he at least wants to try.

While he doesn’t exactly go about getting his redemption in the right way, I can relate to Lucas. I think many of us can. While most of us haven’t done anything as bad as Lucas, we should all be able to relate to wanting redemption and not being sure we can get it. I’m sure a lot of us have also gone about getting our redemption the wrong way.

As with the first book, the book is well written. I found the book to be action packed and difficult to put down, just like the first one. Sometimes you get the “sophomore slump” where a second book just doesn’t live up to the hype of the first. This book isn’t that way.

We do see Alec, Lindy, and Jake in the book as well. There are some issues with the family and frankly, it’s nice to see a perspective that isn’t just the normal “Oh we’re having issues.” The issues aren’t tied to just infidelity, alcohol, or drugs, but also to Alec’s neurotic behavior.

There’s also a huge twist in the book that I honestly didn’t expect at all. It’s a great book that is difficult to describe without giving spoilers.

If you like a good mystery, thriller, or horror novel, I’d say this duo is for you. I actually kind of hope there will be a third book, just because I want to see how life turns out for all of the characters.

Summary:
Failed satanic high priest Lucas seeks redemption for his sins in a Christian commune. The day comes when the commune leader learns of Lucas' past as well as his connection to a celebrity faith healer who is rumored to be an atheist. Lucas must now prove his spiritual worth in order to remain a member of the commune. In order to save himself, he must save someone else, but his warped sense of right and wrong puts the faith healer and his family in mortal danger.

The Prophet Reborn is the perfect sequel, i definitely enjoyed following the story line from book one to book two. I love how The author was able to keep the the line between Saint .VS. SInner usually in books the lines between thin out and you end up with a weird mixture of the two. The Character development is defiantly something i enjoyed reading from beginning to end.
