As a Canadian hockey fan, I really enjoyed reading Nick Kypreos' memoir. Some very neat and new stories that I had never heard before. Plus, his childhood stories were very fun and interesting to read about.

Torontonian Nick Kypreos, had a dream.
The son of Greek parents and from a huge Greek family, he wanted to play in the NHL.
With his tireless work ethic, dedication, and perseverance his dream came true.
After 8 years on the ice, playing for a few teams, winning the Stanley Cup, and finally playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs (his hometown), a concussion ended his playing career. But the lessons he learned along the way helped him with his next 20 year career as a top hockey analyst for Sportsnet.
He has many interesting stories to tell that are about both hockey and family.
Thanks for the great read "Kyper".

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a good bio book about the hockey career of Nick and his career in broadcasting. It was a well written book. It would make a good gift to a avid hockey fan.

I have to admit I am a sports memoirs fan so I was ecstatic to receive an e-arc from Netgalley and the publishers and I thank them sincerely! I read this book in 3 days!

Undrafted showed me a man of integrity who always speaks highly of his teammates and colleagues. His Greek heritage provided strong values who fashioned his lasting career in broadcasting. Aside from glimpses of Messier’s leadership abilities or Keenan’s strange behaviour, Kypreos does not use name dropping or juicy tales to benefit his story. If that is what you are looking for, check out Sean Avery’s biography! This is not that kind of book.

Guarding his privacy and family life, I got to learn mainly about his 21 years career in hockey broadcasting. 40% of this book is about his journey with Sportsnet and how his 8 years in the NHL has helped him develop lasting relationships and shape his tv persona. We also get to see how social media has changed hockey broadcasting, including his insides on both lockouts in 1995 and 2013. In that sense, his story is refreshing and told from a new perspective.

I wish I could have witnessed more his love for the game or its intensity or how the concussion that ended his career impacted him post-hockey. I also didn’t get the sense of who is Nick Kypreos as a man, husband or father.

If you have an interest in sports journalism, this surely will be a winner!

Happy to get a copy of the first couple chapters of this book, and I enjoyed what I’ve read so far. I’ll definitely be picking up a finished copy soon.

I got a copy of 2 chapters and the prologue of this book. I was hooked after the prologue. I love all things hockey and couldn’t wait to dive into this book. I’m a little disappointed that I only got to read 2 chapters.
Seeing Kypreos on tv and then getting to read how he got to where is today, intrigued me a lot.
I can’t wait to read the rest of this book.
