I have to start by saying the narrator did a great job bringing this story alive. It really was the best part of the book. I do not think I would have enjoyed the story as much if it was not for the narrator. I had not read this book before listening to this audiobook. I of course knew about the book, it being one always listed on top classic novels list, but just never got around to reading it. In all honesty after I finished the audiobook I can say I really did not like the story itself. Just too many “coincidences” happened. Too many outlandish adventures that no child as young as Huckleberry was in the story. So if you really want to read the story I highly recommend you do it via audiobook.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Collection by Mark Twain is a stunning addition to any book lover's collection. Stunning details encased these classic tales. I purchased this book for my collection and it’s even more stunning in person. And of course, this classic tale is timeless and fantastic.

I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I struggled to get into this audio book so I decided I would just physically read the copy since I also own it in that format. However, I do LOVE the seasons editions of print books. They are lovely!

Although it's a classic and has several fun and even impressive scenes, I was never truly hooked with the story. The writing is slow, and so are the scenes. The characters are unreliable and that simply made me don't care what happened to them. I do get that audiobooks are to give them more life but I didn't liked the voice from this book.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get this audiobook to download to my NetGalley shelf, so was unable to listen to it. That said, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was a childhood favorite and the Summer collection cover art immediately jumps out and grabs your attention.

I feel like I would've enjoyed this book if I read it in school to aid in the learning of slavery. I know this book is banned in schools because of the use of the "N" word but I'm sure there are "clean" versions in which younger kids can read. I loved the story of friendship and how Huck helps Jim. The book starts out with you believing that Huck is very uneducated but he's so much smarter than you think and its very heartwarming to watch the story unfold in that way.

While I've never been a fan of Mark Twain and still had trouble paying attention to the story, this audio book was my best attempt at reading his work. The reading is engaging and the narration sounds just like my great-grandma who grew up in Kentucky. If you're like me and have trouble with Twain's writing, try out this audio book!!

I have always loved The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but this far have never listened to it as an audiobook. I really enjoyed this version and the speaker did a good job with the different characters and accents! A classic that everyone should read at some point in their lives.

This new audiobook version of Mark Twain's classic American novel, narrated by the wonderful Robin Miles, was an entertaining listen and presents an alternative avenue for new readers (listeners) to access a great work.
The plot follows 13 or 14 year-old Huck Finn's adventures traversing the Mississippi River from (fictional) St. Petersburg to (fictional) Pikesville, having escaped first the civilising efforts of the Widow Douglas, then from his abusive father. He's accompanied on his journey by escaped slave, Jim, who's hoping to reach the free state of Illinois, whence he'll purchase the freedom of his family members who remain in slavery in the South.
Miles's narration is clear and may assist modern readers to comprehend the Southern vernacular language used throughout the novel. She's a talented voice artist, using a variety of pitch, tones and accents to define the wide cast of characters.
It's a rollicking good tale, cleverly satirical and ultimately heartwarming. Appropriate to the context, racial epithets and racist attitudes appear liberally throughout, which will be confronting to a modern audience. However, the central character and the tone of the work are sympathetic to the plight of Jim, and decidedly anti-slavery, exposing the hypocrisy and repugnance of the views of many in the Antebellum South. Younger readers (listeners) may require some guidance in this regard.
I have no hesitation in recommending this audiobook edition, both to established fans of Twain's writing (like myself), and new reader-listeners.
My thanks to the publisher Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook edition.

This is the second time I've read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. I read it for the first time when I was in University, but I enjoyed it so much more this time. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC audio for an honest review.

I already knew this story, but hearing the words read by Robin Miles was a delight. She captured the mood, the language and the accent so perfectly that it brought the story to life in an entirely new way.

This classic story continues the story of Huckleberry Finn who I first met in Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer. Huckleberry's home life is a difficult one. His father is a violent, angry, alcoholic and he finds Huck to try and get some of the money that Huck found with Tom Sawyer. People in the town try to help Huck but it does no good because eventually Huck's father kidnaps him and locks him in a cabin where he beats him.

Huck eventually escapes and people think that he has drowned in the Mississippi river. That's when Huck comes across Jim who is a slave. Jim is trying to get away because he has overheard that he is going to be sold to another plantation. This begins Huck and Jim's adventures as they go down the river on a raft. As they encounter different people they continue to help one another survive as well as help others along the way.

Some main topics in this book are adventure, racism and slavery and Huck's character is also used to show the hypocrisy of civilized society. I was surprised at how often the "n" word is used in this book. I have read that some editions have changed some of the words so perhaps when I first read it, it was a different edition. Hearing this word, was difficult. I acknowledge that it has more to do with the time it was written and that it would not have had the same impact on the readers as it does (or should) today. A heads up that it is said at least a couple hundred times.

This book is a classic because it has a story that still resonates with people. An adventurous, coming of age story about friendship, racism, slavery, abuse and freedom. These are topics that we can still relate to today.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is very much a classic. Full of life and fun, it follows Huck and Old Jim down the river as they escape the life they lived. I was, of course, familiar with it, but curious to see how it would be read aloud by a narrator. The different dialects throughout the story seemed like it would be difficult. (In fact, I had read parts of it aloud to my kids many moons ago and it was just that!) The narrator did not disappoint however! With skill and smooth narration, she was Huck Finn and Old Jim. She was The King and The Duke and all the other characters that found their way into the story, including the rascally Tom Sawyer. I am glad I was able to listen to this classic and enjoyed laughing out loud many times! I would definitely recommend listening to it if you enjoy audiobooks. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the narrator for a great story!

An excellent audiobook! Not only did it tell a story, but introduced an atmosphere, that otherwise couldn`t have existed only by reading the text on page. It was a welcomed audio of a book that had made it in the literary canon, not just by the controversies it sparked but by the subjects it brought to light, too.

I had not read yet Huckelberry Finn, and I didn't find a better opportunity than this audio book.
.
At first it cost me a little bit to adapt to the use of the words and lenguages of that time but it is very well narrated by Robin Miles, her expressions and small changes in the voices were trapping me in the story and gave a different air to each character some of they made me smile a little.
.
It is a classic book, with lessons about friendship, religion and racism, following the voice of Huckelberry Finn and his train of thoughts on life, his family and society.
.
This book is perfect for those who want to read literary classics and do not have time or are lost in so many terms of other times.
.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson and #NetGalley to let me listen #TheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinn, I really enjoyed the book

It was a good story. I wanted to read it for so long and loved it. The narrator was also very good which is half the reason why I loved the book so much.

This is a classic book and one that everyone should read. This is a reread for me but the first time I read this was decades ago and it felt so familiar but different at the same time. The book is a controversial read and the narrative is in the first person but it is one of those books that it works too well. It dives into issues like racism (a lot of racism), friendship, religion and depicts some aspect of life and society in the early 19th century. This is a book that teaches us a lot of important lessons and if you haven’t read it you should at least once in your life.

This book was not my cup of tea. I am not a fan of classics in general. The language is hard to follow and I feel like I don’t follow the story the way I should.

The one huge positive I have about this audiobook is the narrator Robin Miles. I will listen to anything she narrates.

A wonderfully detailed portrait of nineteenth-century America. An epic adventure of the life of Huck after he runs away from his cruel uncaring upbringing. A great read for all ages.

It has been at least 50 years since I read Huckleberry Finn. I read it in my own room by myself. This audio book, which thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, I got to listen to as if I was a child and a parent was reading it to me.
It was wonderful. The woman who did the readings was perfect in my opinion. she was able to capture everyone's different voices while affecting the uneducated, backwoods language that was used at the time.

Mark Twain wrote this wonderful story 160 years ago. And it holds up. Some reviewers were offended by the language or pointed out that it wouldn't be PC and therefore allowed in schools today. I hope that is not true. It is perfect for 1885 life along the Mississippi. Readers who were offended by the word 'nigger' missed the point. Huck used that word like we say 'black' Americans today. It's what Huck learned (albeit from slave owners) as a youngster in the world he lived in. The love and affection between Huck and Jim is so apparent through the entire book. Huck could not and would not use anything he thought was offensive when describing his friend.

The entire time I listened to the book, I thought what a wonderful story teller Mark Twain was, how he understood young boys and there seemed to be no end to the pranks (and therefore the stories) that these youngsters could get up to. Yet there was relief when it all came to an end.

If I had to give advice, I'd tell anyone young or old to listen to Mark Twain and esp Tom Sawyer and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

I read this book a few years ago and didn't enjoy it all that much. The only reason I finished it was because I was reading it as part of my course paper. It is understandable that Mark Twain was passing a social commentary on the political and social climate of his country in his time but for a book that is popular as children's fiction, it was still disturbing and the language was shocking to say the least.

However, I think listening to the audiobook this time around was a much better experience. The narrator Robin Miles has done a good job of narrating it in the southern dialect although I feel the language is still shocking and unsuitable for a book that comes under children's literature.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Thomas Nelson for the audio ARC of the book.

I read this book in high school, but I remember not enjoying it. Now that I have gotten more into audiobooks, I was eager to give this book another try. Ultimately, it is just not the book for me. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.
