This was a pretty decent read. I liked both Krys and Morgan. I liked the overall plot of the story. There were a few things that were annoying (like how many family members are going to be thrown in there so Krys has to explain ad nauseum that she’s her sister’s twin??). Overall, though, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend

Krys is a Journalist who gets into things she shouldn't to uncover the truth and it seems that someone wants to silences her. Thing is trying to figure out who could the person after her be and thing is shes looking into multiple cases both of which is pretty sketchy and the people behind it might want to silence her. Detective Morgan is to be her bodyguard until the person is apprehended.

I love a good mystery suspense type of novel and this was just perfect for that. Kry really gets into things as a journalist and certainly makes her less popular being that she is digging into things that other may not want her to uncover. I loved watching as the case unfolds and seeing how they were getting closer and farther from who it could be. There was just so many options of who it could be its just a matter of finding the right person before they strike next. I loved that there was a few mishaps and close calls to keep the readers on thier toes and it really kept me hooked till the very end. There is a bit of romance between Krys and Morgan and I really appreciate that it didn't take over the book. There is a mystery to be solved and her life is in danger so its good that it wasn't all about the romance but the mystery of it all. Overall loved the book it was such a fun read.

I do not often get to read this authors books but when I do I jump in. Krys is putting her nose out there even if it means danger. She has to get a bodyguard such as Detective Morgan. As you get further into this one you will see also things heating up between client and detective and also along with the danger on the outside. Sometimes scandal can be deadly as this one we will see can lead to that. This happened to be a romance with suspense that could keep my attention until the end.

Good book. In the previous book, Cavanaugh Stakeout, we met Nik Kowalski, an insurance investigator whose search for a missing person landed her in the middle of a serial killer case. She met and married Finn Cavanaugh and is now away on her honeymoon. Her twin sister, Krys, was unable to make the wedding, leaving most of the Cavanaugh clan unaware that Nik has an identical twin.

Krys is an investigative journalist with a reputation for tenacity. As the story opens, someone has just taken a shot at her. She immediately heads for the police department and asks for Morgan. The meeting doesn't start well. Morgan doesn't believe Krys is who she says she is until she provides proof. Then he is skeptical of her claim of being shot at, again requiring evidence. I didn't blame Krys at all for being irritated with him. He becomes fully convinced when Krys is almost the victim of a hit-and-run attack.

I loved seeing the relationship between Morgan and Krys build. There are sparks between them from the start, though the bickering between them somewhat hides them. Krys is stubbornly independent and doesn't react well to Morgan's restrictions on her activities. Morgan can be charming when he wants to be, but he is also very protective. It was fun to watch the push and pull between them as they work out how to keep Krys safe while still letting her do her job.

Meanwhile, the attraction between Morgan and Krys grows until they can no longer resist it. I loved seeing them both embrace it rather than fight it once it happened. They still have some run-ins over Morgan's protectiveness, which creates a big problem near the end of the book. Now all they had to do was let go of their fears of rejection and admit how they felt. I did get a little bit of a chuckle out of her hint to him.

The suspense of the story was intense at the beginning, with the two attacks on Krys. After that, it seemed to be more mental as she and Morgan tackled her interviews and tried to figure out which of the people she's angered wants to kill her. Some unexpected twists create more questions than answers. However, I began to suspect the truth shortly before the final confrontation. I did want to shake Krys for her boneheaded move and thought she was fortunate that she wasn't as alone as she thought she was.

One of the things that was very fun about this book was the confusion Krys created with her presence. I laughed out loud at the way everyone mistook her for Nik. I loved how she was immediately considered part of the family, something that she found somewhat overwhelming. Both she and Morgan took a little while to appreciate each other's family experiences. I enjoyed how Morgan enlisted Uncle Andrew in making her feel welcome. The epilogue was terrific as Krys finally feels she has come home.

Cavanaugh in Plain Sight by Marie Ferrarella is the 42nd book in the Cavanaugh Justice series. It's always so hard for me to pass up a good Cavanaugh read no matter who writes it. Needless to say I wasn't let down by Ferrarella but I wasn't over the moon excited either.

Krys has an identical twin which can be a bit of a problem when an entire town had no idea she existed and now not only is her life in danger but so is her sisters. Even though her sister is away on her honeymoon, this just means she has to figure out who is trying to kill her before she returns.

Morgan is trying to wrap his head around this whole identical twin situation or is his cousins new wife playing tricks with his head. Either was its obvious she is in real danger and as a detective its his job to protect her.

The Good
* This is an easy to read relatively short romantic suspense. It is perfect for a lazy afternoon during lockdown.
* The romance was the best aspect of the book. Marie Ferrarella really took her time to build up the relationship and chemistry before they got together.
* There was some wonderful snappy dialogue between Krys and Morgan. I really enjoyed their flirtatious bickering.
* There were some nice moments of humour. Especially, when Krys keeps getting confused for her sister.
* Morgan was a really great MC. He was charming without being over the top, protective without being possessive and more than willing to compromise. He had some great layers to his character.

The Not so Bad
* Krys was a bit annoying. Someone has tried to kill her twice and she is still convinced that she needs no one and can handle things on her own. She is constantly putting herself and others at risk by behaving recklessly. Her arrogance leads her to be mostly unable to see any other side of things then her own.

The Ugly
* There was hardly no suspense in this book. I never felt like the stakes were that high and it was obvious who the 'bad guy' was the whole time. This was more contemporary romance than thriller. I just wanted a little more boom for my buck.

Cavanaugh in Plain Sight was just okay for me. The romance was good and the chemistry between the characters was there, but the suspense was essentially nonexistent. It started with a 'meet-cute' that was more like a meet-argument that made little sense and went on for far too long. It was like this big important detective couldn't grasp the concept of identical twins.

Once you got past that the story moves right along, but again, the suspense really isn't that suspenseful and the dialogue is often stilted and painful to read. I liked the romance portion of the story, but the rest was predictable, right down to the final scene and the who dun it. I would definitely read this author again if it was a regular romance.
