This is the 4th book in the "All Day Breakfast Cafe" series by cozy author Lena Gregory. I have enjoyed the entire series and highly recommend this next in series. Thank you to the publisher. and to Net Galley for the opportunity.

Our next in series meets up with our favorite cafe owner and cook / protagnist Gia in Boggy Creek, Florida. She is missing the holidays in New York and wants to serve up some new holiday specials and decorate for the holidays. When she agrees to take part in the towns Haunted festival she did not plan on finding another body. Gia and friends are on the case to determine what happened . Their investigation turns up small town secrets and a victim not very well liked in their small town.

I like the sleuth that kept me guessing with red herrings throughout. The charcters are all likable and add to the story. I love the breakfast cafe and the holiday theme treats that are included. This is a fun addition to this series.

A Waffle Lot of Murder is the 4th book in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery series.

Gia Morelli runs the 'All-Day Breakfast Café', a diner in Boggy Creek, Florida. Gia is on a mission to promote her speciality pumpkin spice waffles when she is asked to help out at the town's Haunted Town Festival for Halloween, an event held on deserted farmland. When Gia and her BFF, Savannah Mills go to the woods to meet Barbara Woodhull, one of the event organisers, Barbara doesn't show up. Then they learn that she has been found by a security guard, dead, having been clobbered over the head...

A Waffle Lot of Murder was my 1st in this series. Although it was book four, I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events and it worked for me as an individual story. Gia and Savannah had a brilliant friendship and protagonist Gia was a great character who I found to be instinctive and keen. The great cast of characters, including the hilarious townsfolk, and strong friendship bonds, helped to zhoosh up this autumnal cozy as did Thor, Gia's Bernese Mountain Dog. I was sold on this Halloween themed compulsive story from the very beginning, and Lena Gregory really impressed me with her fluid writing. The details of the plot were very well-executed, the story was amusing and easy to follow, and every chapter left me with a compelling need to read on. The story was scattered with scrumptious food references, and clues were sprinkled throughout. As a lover of a good breakfast myself Lena Gregory's mentions of delectable sounding meals and treats were pure joy and I could almost taste the homemade Vanilla Cinnamon creamer! The killer's motive eluded me until the very end.

This was a very good cozy and I am looking forward to reading book five. If you adore a great cozy mystery, don't miss out on A Waffle Lot of Murder!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A Waffle Lot of Murder by Lena Gregory is the 4th book in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery series, and a great start. Gia Morelli moves from New York to a small town in Florida and is now the owner of the All-Day Breakfast Cafe. The town is getting ready for the Haunted Town Festival, when the women in charged is found murdered. Gia is determined to save the festival by finding the killer. I found this book to be a quick read, with well developed plot and characters. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me reading. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this book/series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a great story to read around Halloween, or really anytime. I love holiday themed books. Who wouldn’t want a friendship like Gia and Savannah? I would really like to go to the All-Day Breakfast Café. What a hub of activity and great food too! The story flowed and the interactions between characters was great. They have even included some recipes for you to try. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

A Waffle Lot Of Murder is the fourth book in the All-Day Breakfast Café Mysteries. I have read all of them but that is not necessary to enjoy this book. This can easily be read as a standalone. There is enough information provided not to feel left out.

The story is set Boggy Creek, Florida. It is a Halloween-themed cozy that captures the spookiness of the season with creepy descriptions. The author does a wonderful job setting the scenes.
In this installment, Gia and Savannah try to figure out who killed the woman organizing the Haunted Town Festival and why. It was easy for me to figure out who but not why.

There a bonus, recipes included.
Give this story a try.

I was given an ARC e-book copy from Netgalley. I am not required to leave a positive review.

** Friendship **

That is the main running theme as we follow Gia and Savannah through the days leading up to the Haunted Town Festival in Boggy Creek, Florida.

A Waffle Lot of Murder is Book 4 of 5: All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery so I went all the way back and re-read Scone Cold Killer which is the first book in the series to get back into their character development because I noted that was the one part lacking in book 4. Yes, this can be read as a standalone because there is enough information to fill in some historical points, however with the basis of book 4 being friendship, I wanted to see it build from the ground up. Hence, why I went back to book 1.

A Waffle Lot of Murder brings in the main characters, but also introduces us to some new characters. I enjoyed seeing the dynamic friendships emerge from these new characters, but all the friendships revolve around one particular pointed question:

** How far are you willing to go for a friend? **

Gia continuously puts herself on the line and in-between her dangerous sleuthing habits, but I noted she was exceptionally clumsy this time around while she is normally quite lithe and quick witted.

This is the perfect cozy mystery book to "fall" into as we prep for spooky times this month.

Really fun Halloween time story, but suitable for reading any time of the year. Mouth-watering food descriptions. Really enjoy the developing relationship between Hunt and Gia.

Would I read more by this author? Yes
First off want to thank the publisher Lyrical Underground-Kensington Books for letting me read and review it as well as helping me to find a new cozy mystery series to start and a big thanks to NetGalley as well. This is the first time I've read anything by this author and I do have to say that I'm looking forward to reading more of this series , and seen what other craziness our characters get into as well as Thor. I loved how the characters felt and acted like family and the closeness of them, and the feel of the small town had, its the perfect setting for a nice visit or even living there. Another thing is I love the cover as well as the title ,which is what got me to pick it up in the first place, and I'm so glad I did , it had me smiling though out the book, and it fit perfect with the type of reading I was hoping for , something to get lost in and just enjoy .

This is the second book in this series that I've read so I'm not as familiar as the characters that I've read. One of the event organizers is found murdered near the buildings where the Haunted Town Festival is scheduled to take place. The event is in danger of being cancelled if the investigators keep the site of the festival closed down. There were few times I want to ask Gia what is she thinking, but still enjoyed the book despite that. I wasn't expecting the reason Barbara was killed. Now I need to catch with the rest of the series.

I've been enjoying some fun cozy mysteries lately and this one has leapt to the top of the pile.
Pumpkin spiced waffles do sound delicious don't they and now how about a side of murder with that?
Murder becomes the talk of the All-Day Breakfast Cafe when the owner discovers a body in the woods.
The town of Boggy Creek, Florida is awash with Halloween preparations especially when a coveted spot opens for one of the shop owners in town to decorate one of the very limited number abandoned houses in a filed every year that gets judged by the towns people and brings in revenue for the shop owners lucky enough to get one to decorate.
Diner owner Gia Morelli jumps at the chance to promote her new fall themed menu including pumpkin spiced waffles but she sure doesn't anticipate on stumbling upon a body that night.
Hold onto your dinner plates as the clues will be slung at you faster then the greasy hash browns in this entertaining holiday cozy mystery.

If you’re looking for a Halloween-themed book to read that isn’t especially scary, this is it. A Waffle Lot of Murder is the fourth book in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery series, featuring Gia Morelli, the cafe owner who has transplanted herself from New York City to a small town in Central Florida, Boggy Creek. I haven’t read the other three books in the series but the author included enough backstory so that I wasn’t lost at all. Gia and her best friend Savannah stumble across a crime near where a Haunted Town festival will be held, in support of the local animal shelter, and things take off from there. We get to meet a number of the local residents along the way, of course, with hints and “red herrings” galore. The Florida landscape is described well and Gia, not being native to the area, has a healthy caution about the local wildlife, like alligators and coyotes, especially because she loves her puppy Thor.

Typical of cozy mysteries, Gia and Savannah get pulled into “helping” the town sheriff investigate the crime and put themselves in danger a couple of times.

This was a fun read, but it wasn’t compelling enough to entice me to go back and read the first three books in the series.

Note: There are some yummy-sounding recipes included at the end of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an advance reader copy of this book. These opinions are my own.

Once again there was a murder in the small community of Boggy Creek. Gia Morelli said she had no personal stake in this case and wasn't going to get involved this time. Of course if information came her way she'd pass it on to her boyfriend/police chief. Asking some questions wouldn't hurt either. So, you can see where this is going but then it did become personal and Gia charged full steam ahead. Apparently the victim had dirt on on pretty much everyone in Boggy Creek so the suspect list is long and secrets abound.

This story has a wide range of characters from those you love to love to those you love to hate and the plot is quite engaging. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

A Waffle Lot Of Murder" the 4th instalment in the "All Day Breakfast Cafe" Mystery series by Lean Gregory. I love this series since the beginning and was so happy to see this pop up on Netgalley.

I love this series and each book seems better than the last. The story pulled me in straight away and held my attention till the very end. There were plenty of twists and turns, and enough intrigue to keep you reading throughout and per usual with this series I read in one sitting.

I liked whole halloween theme and that it was centered around the Haunted Town Festival that raises money for the local animal shelter. Heres hoping Thor gets a companion soon...

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You know what I didn't realize I would miss about life before quarantine and social distancing? Going out for breakfast! I'd love to sit down at a table in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe and just enjoy a lazy breakfast (or brunch...or dinner!)

This was my first book in this series and it was a really fun read! Gia and her best friend Savannah are such fun characters to follow - they're the perfect team when it comes to solving mysteries in Boggy Creek, Florida. Are they qualified to do so? Well...not exactly. But that's half the fun! The gossipy townspeople are hilarious and delightful and it's so fun to feel like a sleuth right alongside Gia and Savannah.

When a dead body shows up near the location of the annual Haunted Town Festival, Boggy Creek is thrown into a frenzy. You see, no one wants a murderer running around town. And more importantly, no one wants to cancel the festival!

If you're looking for a good Halloween read that isn't too spooky, this is a great choice.

Thank you to Kensington Books for the NetGalley ARC!

This was a fun story based around Halloween. The main character runs a cafe and asked to participate in a Town Halloween function. Each group is given a empty house to decorate how ever they like. Trouble starts when they stumble upon a body on the grounds were the events will take place. The women in the story work together to plan their haunted house which they decide to make a haunted hospital. The story takes many twists and turns on suspects. This was a very enjoyable book to read and I would highly recommend it.

The setting for A Waffle Lot of Murder is around the town’s Haunted Town Festival that raises money for the local animal shelter. Gia’s been lucky enough to get a house this year, and is working with her team to create a haunted space. Unfortunately, the main organizer has been murdered, so everything’s on hold. Though known for her positive work for the animal shelter, Barbara Woodhull had no shortage of people she’d treated poorly.
There were a couple moments where Gia was investigating and made really stupid choices that could’ve resulted in harm. It wasn’t really explained except panic and seemed out of character for what she’s learned so far in the series.
Overall, this was a solid installment in the series and I really enjoyed the spooky Halloween setting. Perfect to curl up with as we move into the cooler evenings of fall.

I have not read any prior books in the All Day Breakfast Café mysteries but I do read a lot of cozies and this one was lacking for me. I thought the heroine was kind of a twit and made a multitude of the quintessential bad decisions one makes in a horror movie that gets that person killed, except she just kept getting lucky.

Gia Morelli, proprietor of the All Day Breakfast Café, has been hooked into hosting a table and a haunted house at Boggy Creek, Florida's annual haunted town festival. When she and her BFF Savannah go to meet the event planner, who turns up dead, Gia takes it upon herself to solve the mystery even though she has never met the deceased.

Usually the protagonists in cozies are spunky with a penchant to get into trouble. Gia is hardly spunky and looks for trouble. She cries often and to me really lacked any depth that made me want to like her. Why anyone would get heavily involved in a murder investigation where they did not know the victim and someone near and dear to their heart is not the suspect, I do not understand. The best part of this book was Thor, her dog. I finished the book but honestly it does not make me want to rush out and read the others in the series.

Gia Morelli owns the All-Day Breakfast Café in Boggy Creek, Florida. She's been invited to participate in the annual Haunted Town Festival -- which means she'll be given a table to display her wares, and better yet, she gets a house to decorate in the spookiest fashion she can think of. She says she doesn't have the time, but when her friends and employees urge her, offering to help and even appear as part of the scares, she says yes, knowing the proceeds all go to the animal shelter.

When she and Savannah go out to the farmlands to look at their house, they're supposed to meet Barbara Woodhull, one of the organizers. But when Barbara doesn't show up, and Savannah finds Barbara's phone, they're wondering where she is. But Barbara's best friend Genevieve 'Genny' Hart meets them, she doesn't know where Barbara is. But after showing Gia her 'house', Gia and Savannah hear police sirens. It seems Barbara has been found dead in a shallow grave, and now there's a killer on the loose.

Gia vows to stay out of the investigation, not having ever met Barbara. But when one of her friends gets involved and is attacked, all bets are off. Gia tries her best to stay away, but things keep niggling at her, and even though she doesn't willingly put herself in danger, her only thought is to keep Savannah safe. But even that might be harder when things escalate, and the killer knows she's on the trail...

This is the fourth book in the series, and a very good entry as such. It takes place in the autumn, which is perfect for this time of year (I love to 'read the season' as it were), and the story line is quite interesting. I like the idea of several smaller haunted houses instead of one, and you can choose which ones you want to go to. This tale shows how far Gia's come since she moved to Florida: she's made good friends who will all go out of their way to help her when she needs it, and are even excited to be part of the festival with her.

My only complaint is that while I know Hunt is now the police chief, I don't understand why he can't spend more time with her. Police chiefs all over the country are married with families, and don't just take a moment here and there for their significant others. I'd like to see a little more progress in this area. But I digress...

The story pulls us in from the beginning, and when we start to learn more about Barbara, it seems she wasn't much of a nice woman after all. Still, it leaves the fact that she's been murdered and now the police have to figure out by whom. It doesn't help that Genny's friend Kayla is doing all she can to badmouth both the police and Barbara, and her relationship with Genny seems more of a domineering one than a friendly one. Gia wonders about this, but isn't able to get Genny alone to talk with her.

When things start heating up, Gia discovers a key clue to the murder, even as that clue brings with it something else that isn't pleasant to her. When the murderer is discovered, I knew who it was earlier in the book, but that didn't deter me at all from enjoying this mystery (I read a lot of these); and I found it intriguing how the author put everything together. The pieces fell in place naturally, and while there weren't really a lot of red herrings, it didn't matter; the story itself was taut and enjoyable.

I have to say that this is probably my favorite of all the books in this series and I look forward to the next. (There are also some delectable recipes in the back that are perfect for this time of year, if you want to try them.) Highly recommended.
