Can't go wrong with any of Rebecca Zanetti's books! "Rebel's Karma" is part of the Dark Protectors series. I highly recommend that readers new to this series start at the beginning. This series has a lot of world building and the storyline for each new book is built from the events of the previous books.

I love, love, love this whole series! Grace and Adare's story was a great addition. I liked Grace's spunk and Adare's possessive tendencies.

I would have a hard time picking out my "favorite" genre. I think most readers are the same, we read reviews, listen to our friends and co-workers views on what they are reading and sometimes, make a leap of faith based on nothing more than a great cover picture. That's how I got started on my first Rebecca Zanetti book. Now, if it says Rebecca Zanetti, I add it to the TBR pile. These would probably be classified as a paranormal romance, but romance is not the description I would use for her sizzling interactions between the main characters. Soooooo, the story lines are great, the characters very memorable. What's not to love? Oh, by the way, this is #12 so you have some catching up to do.

Zanetti is a no brainer for me. I absolutely love all her books and this one is no exception! Definitely start at the beginning of the series, though. These are not stand alone books.

Guardian's Grace by Rebecca Zanetti

This book is part of the Dark Protector series of which I haven’t read any but I gave this one a go as a stand alone.

This is the story of Grace and Adare he is a hybrid Vampire soldier and former highlander and she is a human with special powers called a key and becomes his mate when he tries to save her five years earlier.

There is a lot going on in this book though eventually you do piece it together. Not the best paranormal romance book I have read.
Although it has plenty of action and twists in the story but not much romance going on. Therefore I felt there could have been more to the ending to this story.

It felt very unfinished not even in a way that would lead to a follow on of another character. Very disappointing.2.5/5

Absolutely love this author and this book is no exception. She's an automatic one click for me. I love that all of her paranormal books are still realistic and believable. I can't wait for her next book.

It’s probably not great to jump into a series at the 13th book but hey, I like vampire stories.
I enjoyed this book and felt like it could be read with knowing all the info from the previous books, however it did leave me with some questions, but maybe not enough to continue on with the series.
I enjoyed the story and connected with the characters. At some stage I think maybe I’d like to know what actually happens but not today.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eArc of this book.

This story has been a long time coming, ever since the introduction of this new story arc with the all-powerful warrior group called The Seven and I have been dying to read it. Zanetti has a way of weaving her stories together so tightly that you are always so wrapped up in the lives of the characters that you sometimes forget they aren’t real people that you can meet if you just go around the right corners. Adare’s story began when he was called on to attempt a mating with Grace, one of the mysterious Keys, when she was in a coma, and when the mating was successful enough to save her life and wake her, things went downhill pretty quickly. Grace has refused to acknowledge her new mate since waking, even though she is intensely attracted to the sexy vampire, and even more she refuses to get pulled into the danger and drama that surround these paranormal beings that she never realized lived alongside her all this time. Now that she is in real danger though, Adare is done letting her run free and nothing will stop him from locking her down, not even the risk to his own life. But with their ultimate enemy right on the horizon, Grace is just as determined to keep the sexy and distracting male safe to save the world. They have to find a way to compromise or they could both end up dead, or worse, before they can come to understand that denial that strong doesn’t stop the emotional connection between them. I was intrigued from the beginning of Adare and Grace’s story several books ago because you could see they were both intensely attracted to one another but they could never seem to come to terms with the attraction. We get to see their individual motivations in their story and I enjoyed getting to know each of them and see them come fully to life. Adare has lost a lot in his VERY long life but he is determined that he will stick around long enough to bring down the enemy once and for all, and having a mate grab him by the heart, especially one as fragile as the still-human Grace is making him a little bit insane. I loved seeing him being alpha badass, but at the same time the hints of vulnerability as he came to terms with his need for Grace and love for her. He is obviously not used to having any weaknesses, but she is one for him and one that he will protect with his very last breath. He is such a surprisingly deep and emotional character that the surprises just didn’t stop for the reader as he fell in love with his spunky and sassy mate. Grace was a surprise again and again as well, beginning with her ability to even resist Adare to begin with because honestly I have to wonder HOW? –but I digress. When he comes back into her life unexpectedly, forcing her compliance and ultimately protecting her when the enemy also finds her, we see her learn to fight right alongside her male as she comes to terms with the fact that running or hiding from her feelings is useless, she loves the big brute. She might have her misgivings about their forced mating, especially when she feels that he doesn’t even want her around, but once she learns how deeply he feels, she allows herself to openly care for Adare and accept that she needs to be there for him and offer him her strength so he no longer sees her as a weakness. The passion between these two has been building for several years so when they finally let loose, the fireworks are amazing, but as the love deepens that passion simmers even hotter. I loved the whole story and the arc just continues to get more convoluted and intriguing, as it always does with a Rebecca story, though I hated to see the politics in action causing issues with the families and friendships that were established decades ago in previous books. I am dying to see where the series goes next and I have a feeling I know which of the gang will fall madly in love and with whom, but I can see that being QUITE the adventure in frustration and danger. Yikes, it doesn’t get much better than this one!

THE DELIGHT
It’s always a delight to go back into the Dark Protector world, but do it in order! Adare is as sexy as ever even while cranky pants and Grace needs to wise up to the fact she is special. We move the story forward as the end is approaching this battle that was cast many years ago.

REVIEW
While Grace was in a coma after being attacked, Adare bit and marked her in a mating bond without sex. She is one of three keys that will somehow be pivotal in a battle to end all battles. Adare feels he has forced the mating bond onto Grace and leaves her alone for years. But leaving her alone and keeping an eye on her are two different things. When Grace’s health starts to falter, Adare must step in again to do what is best for her.

Adare is what I would call a typical man. Grumpy doesn’t talk much, likes his solitude, and is a warrior at heart. Reliable when the chips are down, he gets things done, but everyone thinks he is pining for the one true love that he can never have. Thus marking Grace was not anything hard for him. He didn’t feel the pull to a female human, let alone feeling forced to mate her. Both are “key” to the end battle, but both aren’t on the same page.

Grace doesn’t remember much of her life before her coma. This often puts her in danger as she tries to figure out what led to her being in a coma. The one true thing is she fights for the underdog, like when she tries to get blood for an ailing child. This draws Adare back to her, and he senses she is deteriorating and slowly dying. Bad for the mission, bad for the mating.

The two fight their growing feelings as Adare tries to protect Grace even from herself. One of those too stupid to live kinds of action. The plot at times is very transparent, even as the author tries to lead you away. Despite Adare’s help, Grace is losing her battle to live, and a medical mystery ensues.

The children we have seen growing up make their appearances as Hope believes she is on the same path her parents found themselves in backstories. Pax also finds a new path that may be the best thing to happen to him.

Overall, this was an interesting addition to the Dark Protector’s series. I loved Adare and all his cranky pants, grew to like Grace even if I shook my head a lot, and adored seeing past characters come and go throughout the story.

Guardian’s Grace is Adare and Grace’s story. Adare mated Grace while she was in a coma years before this story takes place. Feeling guilt over the fact that he took her mating choices away, he allows her freedom while always knowing where she is.. A mistake on Grace’s part has them meeting up again. Grace wants to be independent, and Adare wants her taken care of. Both have secrets. Adare is one of The Seven and Grace is a Key. Both are needed to save the world. There are many action packed moments, exes showing up, Kurjins and others trying to capture enhanced females, and both Adare and Grace realizing that they do both love each other. I was really looking forward to their story and was not disappointed. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Guardian's Grace is the newest book of Zanetti longest paranormal romance. I have read all books so far and for the majority enjoy most of these books. I was excited to get this one but In the middle it kind of lost some edge. It was still a good book overall but I did not live it.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

I didn't realize this was book 12 in a series an I do think it would make a difference to have read some if not all of the previous book so as not to be distracted by picking the worked together while following the plot. That being said I can see how it has enough fans to get to book 12!

Guardian's Grace by Rebecca Zanetti is book 12 in the Dark Protector Series. This is the story of Grace Cooper and Adare O’Cearbhaill. I have read the previous books but felt this could be a standalone book. Adare is part of the immortal world but isn't happy to learn his mate is to be human. Grace is done with the immortal world but has it appears it isn't done with her. This was an exciting read.

Guardian’s Grace (Dark Protectors #12). By Rebecca Zanetti. 2020. Lyrical Press (ARC eBook).

Vampire and Highlander soldier, Adare O’Cearbhaill is one of the Seven. Five years ago he saved a comatose Grace Cooper by mating her with a bite and brand. He was willing to let Grace live her life away from him until the Seven needed her in her role as a Key. But when she puts herself on the radar of the Realm’s enemy, the Kurgan, Adare comes to her aid only to find that her health has been declining. He’ll do what is needed, to get her healthy again, but it looks like he and his captivating mate haven’t evaded danger completely.

Seven years ago Grace was attacked and left comatose for two years. When she awoke, thanks to Adare, she had no memories of the attack. Not really wanting to be a part of the crazy world full of vampires, demons and shifters, Grace is okay with being left to her own devices. But five years later, as her mating brand and health begin to fade, she decides that she’s going to seek out answers about her attack. But now she has a strong, sexy and stubborn vampire demanding that she stay with him.

The Dark Protectors world is always a blast to read. Full of action, machinations, feisty women and alpha men, Guardian’s Grace breaks away the hold Adare has kept on his emotions as he battles between duty and desire to make Grace completely his. Adare’s fellow brother of the Seven, Benny, has a supporting role and set up for his story with an intriguing female he meets during a prison break. And young Hope and Paxton become closer, but there will be interesting developments with Pax as he is taken in by his uncle who has secret plans of his own. I look forward to the next book.
