There was a lot happening in this book. Cicely Pick is sent to claim her husband's inheritance in Scotland, which is far and drastically different from her native India. The language and the setting in this novel is beautiful.

Two women become unlikely friends over the love of gardening in this turn of the last century novel. Antonia and her husband no longer share a grand passion, they no longer share much of anything. Antonia’s art career has gone bust, the only thing that brings her any joy as her family’s grand home and the glass, or green house there. When her sister in law arrives from India, Antonia assumes that Cicely has arrived only to gain access to money. But the two women bond over the glass house and Cicely brings excitement to Antonia’s quiet life, This is a beautiful story about the strength of women’s friendships
